I've attended The Orchard with my family for the past 20 years, and have found it to be a solid bible believing church. The senior pastor, Colin Smith, is a humble man and a faithful preacher who can be heard on 90.1 Moody radio. The Orchard is about roots, life, and fruit. They aim to help people dig deeper roots down into God's Word, share the life of Christ with others, and bear fruit in ministry. The church has been a blessing to me, my family, and to many others. In our group text, other members have introduced hot button topics that are controversial, yet Mike has not gone after them. But I made the one mistake of discussing our WOKE culture and in a private message was extremely hostile, unprofessional and he appears to have anger issues. All and all, I will not patronize or give money or support to a church that has WOKE staff with double standards.

Speaking of the norm, this church does not have the traditional approach from most churches ( suits, sit and listen quiet manner, very structure), and this is what set this church apart. Instead of feeling like you need to fit in to the church this church accepts you as you are and welcomes you with open arms. Quest Church is a growing group of neighborly people, led by Pastor Ed Taylor, who humbly calls himself the "Lead Quester". It's easy to feel at home at Quest, where we accept each other as we are, but we are dedicated to help each other grow in lives of love and service of God and people, and becoming "better" followers of Jesus. On a practical note, Quest's main Sunday gathering is at 3:30 in the afternoon. Yes, that's a little unusual, but for those who work on Sunday morning, or have to get kids to soccer games, or have other commitments that prevent you from going to church at the "traditional" hours, Quest might be just the thing.

I have been attending St. Mary's parish for about 7 years now and pass about 3 different Catholic churches on my way to mass. I go OUT OF MY WAY to go to St. Mary's. The parish is diverse and welcoming. There are all kinds of people who attend this church. You can feel comfortable coming in with jeans and a t-shirt or coming in with a suit and tie. No one cares about what you're wearing or even if you're late. They are just happy you made it in to worship. The music is very nice and they have a professional choir director. She incorporates lots of different levels of talent into the services. I have never been a part of the choir, but feel that this would be a non-judgemental place. On Sunday nights they have a pianist who has a great voice. In the past 7 years, I have gotten to know the priests and some of the staff members. I did the marriage prep course and the RCIA program here. At one point, I didn't get warm fuzzies from someone in the office but they were certainly professional (and I had a strange request). They did a wonderful job for both the marriage prep and the RCIA program. I mean, they knock themselves out to make sure that you have a good experience. Another thing about St. Mary's that I appreciate is that they have never been the kind of parish to pressure you into giving more. They are respectful and are stable with their finances. There was once a drive to redo the windows and it was done with grace. I enjoyed seeing the stained glass windows repaired. I don't have any comments for the school, but I know several families whose children have gone there and had a positive experience. The children went on to attend top-notch schools. If I had to describe St. Mary's in one word, it would be "welcoming." We have made so many friends here and they supported us during hard times and joined in on the celebration of happy times. It's easy to say "I go to this church and I think it's a great place." I mean, if you've chosen a…read morechurch home, hopefully you think it's a great place. I don't think DeerGrove is a great place because it's perfect though. I think DeerGrove is a great place because, when there are problems, the staff and the rest of the church family really tries hard to band together and work with you. I've been going here for 7 years and they have supported me through my divorce, through several surgeries, through the pregnancy where my spouse abandoned me, and through my discovery that my second child is also disabled. They have shown me a lot of love as a single mother. I have seen them change the church program and the daycare offerings to try and work with families like mine and support me. I've had times where I got really frustrated, even angry, with someone at church. Instead of letting me get indignant and leave, staff has reached out to me and worked with me to resolve the problem and meet my needs. I also think that the Evangelical Covenant Church as a whole is a great place to be. The denomination is committed to social justice, a multiracial vision, and ordains women---and those are all phrases that you don't hear from evangelicals a lot (sadly).
