Took my behind the wheel test and passed. I waited for my DL but didn't come so I called and they told me that there was no record of me passing or taking the exam what so ever. I went to the nearest DMV (pomona dmv) to deal with it and told me to wait that WINNETKA dmv has to update it. I wait for 5 hours hearing them say that they're sending it, until finally, they updated as a fail. I don't understand this! read more

Took the drivers test. PRAY TO NOT GET THE OLD ASIAN LADY. She's mean and extremely rude. Everyone else seemed nice but I got paired with her. She failed me then threw my paper at me and just got out if the car no bye or nothing she slammed my door. Rude old hag!!!! read more

The office staff here was incredibly kind and upbeat. I walked in with an appointment but still had to wait about half an hour (not a problem, I expect a wait at the DMV). I got my picture taken and was ready to take my behind-the-wheel test. My experience with the behind-the-wheel test was, evidently, more rude and jarring than I realize, as I've been having recurring nightmares since. The line was long and it was a hot day, so I imagine no one was in a very good mood. A man--who I only assumed was a proctor as he didn't introduce himself--started barking orders at me through my window. I didn't understand a word he said. Finally, robotically, he said, "LEFT SIGNAL." I assumed we were starting the portion of the test where he examines my familiarity with the controls, but then he WALKS AWAY and starts chatting with a co-worker. I am still stalling in line, watching the clock. I watch his conversation for two minutes. Finally he gets in the car and starts shouting at me. Every single item on the list, he screams out, and starts yelling the next item before I've even begun pointing or gesturing at them. He also referred to the E-brake/parking brake as an "E-bend". Finally the test starts. Everything seems to be going smoothly--I parallel park and reverse 100 feet or so just fine. I pull out of the space and the test continues. He tells me to go left but there is nowhere to go left. He was really anxious, shouting directions multiple times in a row: "GO LEFT, GO LEFT, GO LEFT," almost rhythmically with my turn signal. He is STILL shouting at me to go left but there is nowhere to go left, so loudly and so closely that his spittle actually falls on my neck. I lurch back a little and ask, "Left to where?" He repeats, "GO LEFT!" So I start moving left to park on the other side of the street, and the moment I veer out to make a U-turn he shouts, "What are you doing? What's wrong with you? Stop-- you are done." I failed the test, but I feel that the proctor was incredibly unprofessional, if not deliberately trying to fail me. He wrote that he "had to intervene" because I was "driving on the wrong side of the road". He treated me like a child, threw my test at me and said, from what I could understand, "What you did was scary! There are hundreds of driving schools. Don't be so useless." He talked over me, berating me, calling me a "stupid girl". My ears were ringing and I felt his spit on my neck again from how far he was leaning in to scream at me. He got out of the car while still yelling and just abandoned me on a corner. I walked back into the DMV feeling shaken by this interaction, and as I was making my next appointment I broke down crying. I didn't know what else to say except, "He was rude and yelled at me the whole time." This was my first behind-the-wheel test so I wasn't sure what to expect, but it definitely wasn't that kind of abuse. Since I didn't get the proctor's name I doubt any action will be taken against him, and I know it is the DMV after all. I just have to tell my story somewhere because it's been over a month and I'm still greatly unsettled by this experience. read more

Who loves going to the DMV? No one. I used to go to the DMVs in small towns for faster service, but I'm glad I went to the one 4 miles from my new place. It was organized, the staff was polite and the entire place was spotless. From young drivers to the elderly, the staff was respectable and orderly. They even have a kiosk to handle registration payments so that you can skip the line. read more

Yeah, I'm giving this DMV four stars... for a DMV. I was in and out of there in 90 minutes without an appointment. They've really modernized where they now prep your materials while waiting in line. I got there early, 6:30am and it "technically" opens at 7:00am but the workers don't show-up really until 8:00am. So, I got there early and they pass out paperwork to get going while in line, using their app. That speeds up the hand-written stuff. Then when you're done, you get a confirmation code - TAKE A SCREENSHOT OF THAT or you might have to do it all over, like a couple people who let it time out. Then they check that have your materials, wait in line. However, this is the little snag, when different workers were checking on you but didn't know that the other already did it, bringing things to a stand-still. Then I sat and waited around 7:15ish. There were 'maybe' four cubicles being used at the time and nobody was going through. Then at 8:00am, a herd of workers came through and I was instantly up and going. No problems. read more

Dirty, slow, unprofessional, rude are just a few to describe this place. Seriously why can't we just do this online now? Especially with the new rules/laws, your DL expires every 6 years, at least in the state of CA. This is ridiculous. Not to mention, my DL expired and I received no notice, nothing in the mail. Of course when I get my first ticket in 8 years, I'm driving under an expired license. You have all these rules and regulations we have to abide by but when the DMV or any government based business makes a mistake on their end, it's still our fault. Yes, to some extent I'll admit it's my responsibility, but when I don't ever look at my ID or have the need to, how am I supposed to know? I used to have everything set on my calendars but thanks to new technology that all got erased and hacked into. People make mistakes. Apparently so do machines. I never got any mail, so I have to go in with no appointment, wait around wasting a day and pay a higher fine. When I called to make an appointment waiting time was 3 months. Really?! read more

There was a massive line extending outdoors around the building when I arrived 1/2 hour early for my appointment. I went to a window inside and said I had an appointment, and was told I had to stand in line. One and one half hours later I arrived at a window where I was given a number. About 1/2 hour later the number was called. I was then told that it was too late for me to take the written test that I had come for, and I would have to return for that. Dozens of people who were waiting were suffering in the hot sun for an hour before getting into the building. Some of them had brought their children, who were waiting with them for hours. The service has been alright from what I've experienced, though the staff is either really friendly and helpful or inattentive and rude. When I took my written test a few months ago, the lady grading it stopped midway to turn and talk to a security guard about a music video for a few minutes while I stood there awkwardly. When I took my driving test, I had this short-haired asian lady who was really rude and yelled at me for mistakes that I didn't make. When I tried to make a left turn at a green light, she grabbed the wheel from me and yelled even though there was only one oncoming car and it was going slow, about a block away. After that she wouldn't stop talking down to me and grabbing the wheel when I made turns, even though they were done fine. And then she was mad at me and told me not to be upset... after she was yelling at me and making me extremely nervous. Even when the test was finished and she failed me, she spent some time chewing me out instead of giving me any 'advice'. She was condescending, not very helpful, and made it a very uncomfortable experience. read more

Worse DMV in the system! As my wife went up to the counter to check in on time (appointment for 1:00 pm) to take the behind the wheel test, she was told to start over. After filling out the paperwork my wife was told to wait for her number to do the written test. When I ask the person why my wife has to do the written test when we are here for the behind the wheel test, the only answer I got was "Oh really? then just go to window 23". Now came the really big problem. As I watch the examiners give the "behind the wheel test" I notice one examiner talk to those who came with driving instructor test take no more then 5 minutes and pass. Others were longer and the face of those people did not look happy and they did not go into the office after their test. Maybe the head of DMV should look at those examiners to make sure they are on the up and up, not take payoffs from the driving schools. I just hope that I am wrong. read more

Had an amazing experience with the 2nd examiner who evaluated me on my behind the wheel. He understood that stuff happens all the time & that it would be okay .. missed a street & he just redirected me to a different street & went back to course, no problem, although I apologize ! He was very kind & stress free ! Made everything a lot easier & I passed with 6 mistakes out of 15 ! The first guy though who examined me, middle eastern looking dude ? He's a total douche. Lectured me on some stuff & than told me to make a sudden left turn pretty darn late .. & I failed after, because I didn't go to the merge lane in the far left, as I had no time to, because I passed it & he told me too late ? On July 5th around 5pm The stupid lady taking pictures sees there is a big line at her window. She leaves the photo booth unattended like for 15 minutes while there was a big line of people waiting to get their picture taken and then she had the nerve of telling me "wow, you don't look too happy". Worst DMV experience I've encounter. Spent 2 hours just to renew a DL. read more

1 star just for its existence. Granted, no one likes going to the DMV! Understandably because of the long line and the amount of time wasted there. I got there around 2:30 to pick up some paper work for a totalled car. Waited in line for about an hr before speaking to someone. I finally got to the counter and asked for what I needed. OMG The lady behind the counter with purple braids was soooo RUDE! She was talking over me telling me to tell her what I needed. If she was just quiet for a min or less she would have heard and understood what I needed making this process easier and faster. She just had a bitter soul. In the end she ended rushing me away giving me the wrong paper work! Can't say I'll never come back again cause DMV services are literally a necessity. I can just hope for better service. read more

Why blame an examiner if you failed the drive test? If you failed it' s because you failed yourself. Then you will tell different stories of what really happened that they were rude just because you failed. Remember God punished those who lied, and you will have a "bad karma" with your driving because of lying. If you really know how to drive, you know how to drive. Don't blame your stupid nervousness. Actually, the drive test route at Winnetka, DMV was very easy, if you won't pass the test, then forget it, you are not eligible to have a driver license at all. read more

Going to the DMV is never fun, especially if you're injured or disabled! I was in a cast and on crutches this past summer and they let me go to the disabled line - not expecting that I'd be able to do that with a temporary disability but I appreciated it. I don't know if my wait time was less than it would ordinarily have been. But, the staff were very nice and processed everything very fast. I was registering a car that I'd bought out of state. I was thinking there would be a lot more red tape that I'd have to go through but surprisingly, there wasn't. I'd say this office is better than the other ones in the valley. The Van Nuys one was quite bad! At any rate, bring a book and/or some headphones and something to eat and drink because you're gonna be waiting for awhile, even if you have an appointment. read more

There was a Hispanic woman Bianca behind Window 15 along with an African American named Ashley eating and chatting/laughing amongst each other on their cell phones about 4-5:30pm. Then, when it was about charging me a Filipino older woman walks over and said to me "Pay the money first to me now." While another person was assisting me. Since when did DMV Government agencies begin hiring non educated people alongside a guy with a pony tail and piercings whom looks Hispanic treating people without respect that don't speak English. This male was fooling around with the above named females. Joking and making unwanted comments while on work schedule and in the DMV. This Staff does not look credible nor educated. Ashley don't eat while you are reviewing paperwork sucking your fingers. No one wants to hear you talk about other staff behind their backs. The Guy with Piercings, no English morale and no respect. We are at DMV to pay money for fines/renewal fees. You are the people whom are seeing our information. Horrible place. Improve staff appearance and customer service. read more

This is quite possibly the worst customer service I have ever experienced in my life. The workers are unmotivated and lack the critical thinking skills to properly run a bureaucracy. There is no accountability for efficiency and because of this the workers will move at the pace they deem reasonable and will take leisure time off sporadically. Something as simple as taking a 3 minute test on a computer will take 4 hours of waiting. If I could I would give it zero stars. read more

So 6 weeks ago, I went to the Dmv with my bf so we can both renew our DL...we were seen within an hr both and we took our pictures and left. Usually any government office such as DMV's are horrible and filled with terrible service but this is one of the more efficient and better servicing DMV's. Never spent more than an hour on any and every occasion I had to come down to this place. Over all moves fast although still filled with horrible crazy customers. read more

This DMV has the automated machine that you can use to renew your registration, etc. Parking is sufficient. I was in and out in less than ten minutes. The line for people without an appointment though was very long, I'd say at least 50 people. read more

I went to take my drivers license with my instructor. I have been practicing and perfecting my driving skills for over six months. I was very nice and polite to my instructor and I had no problem with him until we were half way done with our route. He yelled at me and told me I drive horribly and was very rude.
