I spent a long time looking for a church that was God centered and rightly guided and frankly while no church is perfect, this church was perfect for us. We help out with sound, lights and projection on the odd Sunday or we sit in the second row, feel free to come and visit and find my husband and I. I would love to do church with you and introduce you to my pastors Andy, Brian and Abel, who are some of the best spiritual leaders I have had the pleasure of meeting. If you want a church that is perfect, has all the best people, only sings the songs you like and gives sermons that won't offend you or challenge you then this is not the place for you.... However, if you want a place to come, where you will be welcomed and loved regardless of where you are at in your walk with God; if you want a place that will challenge you spiritually to be better, that will give you a place to connect with other believers and to worship with people who want to be here and want to just do life together; then this is the place for you. We don't believe that programs do, nor vision casting/ brain washing, nor pharasaical works. Pastor Rosas seems to be a humble man, and the congregation as well. His wife helped with the children's service, where my 6yo son earned Bible bucks and played air hockey. Worship was not showy or loud. All the more reason to give glory to God and not the worship team. (We used to go to Mars Hill and we wish Marc and his family well. I learned a lot while I was there. I don't think comparing the two is fair).

The parishioners ("church people") are friendly to each other and seem very pleased to be alone in their social groups. It's like a robotic event that everybody does but no one knows why. This is a real turn-off The music was pleasant and gently distracting. The average age of the people is roughly 45 years. There are so many better ways to spend a Sunday than going in here. Now that I am back in the neighborhood, it was nice to come back.The best thing is that the senior pastor, whom I went to college with, still teaches from the Bible. They have grown along with the growth of the neighborhood. It's really nice to see some familiar faces, which demonstrates the stability of the congregation. They have 4 services, each catering to a different style of worship. The early morning Sunday service worked very well for us. Nice to be back!

The worship music is peak, and everyone in the congregation sings and participates. Sometimes I wish we could just sing all morning! They have been in this community for years and years under the name Harambee Church (no relation to the gorilla, may he rest in peace), but rebranded to Renton Community Church (probably to differentiate themselves once the gorilla became famous). The congregation is small and intimate, and folks tend to be committed, you'll see the same people week after week. Lots of weekly community groups, too. I've attended this church for six years and been involved in ministry here. This is a great place to get involved and feel known. Lots of opportunities to help make Renton a Kingdom place.

Of the programs that are housed at Harambee, they have an aafter school program and studio which are run by Cry Out!, a weekly homeless dinner run on Saturdays by The Refuge and a monthly open mic run on the last friday of every month by Cultivate. I know that the venue has been used for lots of events and would be a great place to have a wedding reception or concert. Go stop by Harambee and check out the venue if you like local spaces being utilized for the community.
