Of course, it doesn't appeal to the far left liberals - they are content to read the daily paper which carries the Democratic Party's water and mirrors the propaganda emanating from the Washington regime. I never cease to marvel at the depth of coverage which this weekly paper provides - and the investigative reporting is on par with the best "big city" newspapers (that is, the few unbiased papers remaining). I look forward to every issue as do the increasing number of readers (just compare the Real Estate advertising in this paper vs. the daily rag). As I previously said, "Thank goodness for the Rhino".

So I moved her from Winston, to Yadkinville so that my sister, and I could care for her. One of the things she looks forward to daily is her news paper. She reads it, forgets what she reads, and rereads it. Her bill has never been late in all that time. WELL! Our driveway has big ditches with bushes and trees on both sides. For some reason that is where the paper lands 90% of the time. I have called and asked repeatedly if they can't hit the driveway at least go further down and throw it in the yard. It never happens. I have been calling repeatedly since February asking for a paper delivery box to be put up. I have even spoke with a supervisor, NO BOX! its May 20th. Also my sister had my mother's bill put on automatic draft. My mom did not like this. At 78 years old, she is old school. She could not see the bill being paid. So we called to have the draft canceled, and back to a mailed bill that she could see. It has not been done and THEY HAVE CANCELED HER PAPER TWICE BECAUSE OF THEIR MISTAKE! This has upset her greatly. She does not like it at all. To her its like being behind on a bill and that does not go well with my mother at all, its like she blames herself and she asks daily did you see the paper up there? SHAME ON YOU WINSTON-SALEM JOURNAL WHERE IS YOUR CUSTOMER SERVICE? IS IT NONEXISTANT? You have broken my mothers heart and my families. I HAVE NEWS FOR YOU! MY SISTER AND I ARE DISABLED. WE HAVE CRAWLED DOWN INTO THOSE DITCHES, UNDER THE TREES AND BUSHES FOR HER TO RETREIVE THAT PAPER OUT OF LOVE MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT. The cost of this paper, Greensboro News and Record, is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous and absurd! One…read morehundred dollars for 13 weeks of a paper that we NEVER get on the day of the news but one to two days LATE, for reasons I do NOT understand. We get another paper through the mail as well and it comes ON THE DAY of the news and that paper is FORTY dollars cheaper for the same 13 weeks! FORTY dollars cheaper!!! Unfortunately, my Father has dementia and enjoys reading his paper every day; he has lost so much - I cannot take away his paper too. SO...I will continue to pay this ungodly fee for this POOR service! DO BETTER News and Record! You have faithful customers who are aging and can't afford this outrageous cost; they deserve better treatment and more cost-effective papers (especially when online news is not an option). I always liked the Greensboro News & Record. Living in High Point, we subscribed both to this paper…read moreand the local paper, the High Point Enterprise. I think we always preferred the News & Record over the Enterprise because it generally had better articles, but the Enterprise had better local coverage of High Point. The News & Record is the third largest daily newspaper in the state behind the Raleigh News & Observer (largest) and the Charlotte Observer (second largest). Growing up a Wake Forest men's basketball fan in the 90s, I particularly enjoyed the News & Record's coverage of Wake basketball during that time. Also, I liked the paper's coverage of ACC basketball in general and specifically, the special in-depth pieces they wrote during the weeks of the ACC Tournament. For those that don't know, the ACC (Atlantic Coast Conference) is headquartered in Greensboro and the tournament has been held at the Greensboro Coliseum 27 times since the conference was founded (1953-54 season). Did you know the News & Record used to sell internet service? Our first ISP (internet service provider) after AOL (America Online) was the News & Record's InfiNet service. It was dial-up internet and we connected using our 56 Kbps modem. My email address ended with @nr.infi.net, the "nr" standing for News & Record. I believe many newspapers sold internet service during this time. In general, I thought the service was good and reliable, though we'd get kicked off from time to time. InfiNet was our last dial-up ISP before we switched to cable internet (Time Warner Cable's Road Runner service, now Charter Spectrum). We never had any delivery issues with the News & Record that I can recall and we subscribed for decades.

It is minority-owned and operated, and positions itself, according to their own "about" page as "a leading provider of news, information and entertainment from a black perspective." The masthead says "The Voice of the Black Community." It is distributed in dark green newspaper boxes and is free. Most of the boxes are in Uptown Charlotte and, according to wikipedia, primarily in African-American neighborhoods. Its circulation is 22,305. This week's newspaper is sixteen pages with the above-the-fold headline and photo of North Carolina's new Lieutenant Governor-elect, Mark Robinson. Robinson is a Republican, which presents certain challenges when the Governor is a Democrat. And the Post provides a great amount of ink to discuss. The Life section is timely with a holiday menu and recipes and lifestyle stories, yes, from a black perspective.
