Upon driving up you can't help but notice that their building is HUGE! It's as big as a Costco! Tons of trailers were docked getting filled up by the many volunteers. They even had a Amazon trailer at the loading/unloading dock. There were approximately 30+ volunteers. We all gathered at the picnic tables inside the warehouse. Coffee, Tea, and snacks were provided - nice touch. We all worked together to load many boxes of food that were sent on a rolling conveyor belt with volunteers all along it. I was a team of 2 that stacked the boxes on multiple pallets before a forklift driver whisked them away. It was so awesome to be apart of. If you ever have a chance to volunteer please do so.

Within seconds, people were directing me to go to the line and get some free chili, and another person was trying to get me to take some free pastries. I didn't get any food, as I ate right before coming over, but I wish I had at least tried the food. A really good organization for anyone looking for a meal and resources for jobs, community events, ect... I found the bay area crisis nursery through a different charity. I called the Bay Area crisis, nursery, and, Gina took my call and asked her manager for what could be donated. they were able to accept less than 100 activity bucks, which is fine because at least they're going to a good charity. I get to the bay area, crisis, nursery and park my car in one of the two parking spots. I rang the doorbell and wait you must be patient when you're coming here because the staff could be taking care of children. When the door opened, I was pleasantly greeted by Quinntasha who was very helpful! by the way, if you have new or gently used clothing and toys for children, this is a great charity to bring things that people need and can use.

I was ordered by the court to participate in co-parenting counseling through COPE, which effectively left me with no practical alternative provider. Prior to beginning services, I was informed by Megan that the cost would be approximately $45 per session. I was later surprised to discover that I was being charged approximately $160 per session instead. When I raised this concern, Megan Van Carpels advised me that she would investigate the discrepancy and recommended that I request reimbursement. Despite multiple communications, I never received a follow-up or resolution. I was ultimately directed to contact Headway on my own, leaving me to navigate the issue without any meaningful assistance from the organization. I was equally disappointed with the quality of the counseling services provided. My sessions with Isabel often lacked structure, guidance, and actionable feedback. Rather than facilitating productive communication, identifying areas for improvement, or helping develop effective co-parenting strategies, many sessions consisted primarily of passive observation. As a result, I found myself questioning the value being provided relative to the substantial fees being charged. For a service that is frequently court-ordered and intended to support families during challenging circumstances, I expected greater transparency, accountability, professionalism, and therapeutic value. Instead, I was left frustrated by the billing practices, lack of follow-through, and overall quality of the services received. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this organization.

When we finally did get our individual therapist, it's someone who doesn't even have their license, but just a trainee. She was so miserable to talk to, she had the worst attitude, and I wonder why she's even working in therapy? This company sucks, I pray to God I never have to go through them again, and I would give them zero stars if I could. They do not actually care about making situations better, they care about court ordered therapy so that they can get their check. That's all I have to say about this joke of a company.

It's hard knowing that this was my first attempt at belonging and I was so horribly rejected. I really hate to say this, but I would say queer women 25 to 49 should steer clear of this place. These meetings are supposed to be open to anyone in the community. While the first was okay, but the second was horrible. At the second one, a new attendee, a lesbian, who seemed in a bad mood, started on a tirade against transgender people. Five minutes of bile and hate later, I was hoping someone would object, but to my amazement the other two lesbians in the group there encouraged her and supported her. I should have objected but I felt the hatred expressed was too overwhelming and I decided there just was no advantage to objecting and I just left. I did not believe anything I said would be received well as I there was three of them and one of me, and they were all in agreement As far as I am concerned this place is a bastion of hate and bigotry and I have no interest being anywhere near them. This program and organization is unlike any other I've seen or heard of. While being very structured in many ways such as lack of outside communication for most of 11 months, this allows the individual to step out from under the burden upon them, long enough to make the personal changes needed. The facilities are excellent, and the needs of the participants are well met. Religion may not be your thing, but if accepting God into your life helps reduce the anxiety, or other inhibiting factors, why not? If participants learn to think about their actions prior to acting, they learn to avoid problems, and get help when they recognize it on the horizon. Those are much needed skills today. The support shepherds gate receives from all the churches in the tri-valley area is nothing short of amazing! It is evident by the volunteer support the organization receives. This program has attendees learning coping skills necessary to live functionally in today's world. They help them develop computer skills. They help them interview for and get employment. They have access to every resource from sponsors to doctors and therapists. Attendees of the program seem very positive. Some refuse to play by the rules and are removed from the program. In the end this is a free 11 month program. Not because insurance is covering it, they don't charge. Yes that's written correctly. This is a program that gives the time needed to move to a new lifestyle, and have stabilization. I can't imagine what this would cost otherwise. When it seems like everyone's got an angle to rob you blind, here is the purest form of love and support. I had my reservations given its structure. But the feedback is outstanding.

Then those bins go out to different places such as homeless shelters and food kitchens. You can sign up to volunteer. Everyone here is so friendly and welcoming.
