Candy is good. It's candy, most often it's good even if you buy it at the gas station. It is super expensive! If you're traveling here, buy candy at HEB, Buckey's, or anywhere else. We paid $55 for a tiny amount of candy less than a half a pound. A single chocolate truffle was about 5 dollars. We tried justifying it thinking we are doing this because it's vacation time. But we still can't get over the fact that we spent so much for an amount of candy that we could get else where. This is not candy that is made in the store. Also, customer service was mediocre. No eye contact, didn't say hello or how are you... seems like the employees get no training. Lady with dark long hair helped us, and we could have been invisible to her. I would avoid this place. Oh my goodness, you better be prepared to walk out with lots of amazing caramels fudge anything you can think of they have it. I was in candy heaven! Samples, absolutely you can taste the fresh rich caramel delights they have to offer along with their fudge. Everything is so amazing. I've never had caramel so soft and delicious. Of course we bought it and took it home and didn't last for a day but if you're looking for candies from the 50s and 60s, they have them it's amazing. I tried caramel samples and was sold, had to buy some to take home. This little shop has an insane amount of candies, fresh made fudge and caramel etc. and other goodies to choose from. If you like caramel you will LOVE this place. I am giving a five star rating, but be aware they only take cash or check. Also, it is on the more expensive side, but again the quality it out of this world. And it's a tourist town, so there's that. The only thing I would say wasn't a five star rating is they should be wearing a hair net OR have hair up in a clip. This is a great little shop as far as different candy offerings and variety of candy. They also offer truffles, fudge and other chocolate candies. Most candy is sold by the pound, with a set price for the non-chocolate and another for the chocolate. Small white bags are everywhere along with serving scoops or tongs for the bins, pending candy type. The drawbacks were cash or check only. Signs should be prominent and all over the store. I didn't see one. And, the young girl working there wasn't really customer service oriented. It's a pity because I enjoy the shop variety but was really turned off by this worker. read more

Variety of candy is amazing. That's the only "atta boy" you are going to get out of me when it comes to my experience shopping here on Feb 23, 2022. Prices are outrageous. Open bins of candy are kind of shocking to me, and i am in no way a fear-mongerer when it comes to the 19. And when I say open bins, i am not talking about individually wrapped candies...this is open bins of loose chocolates and other various UNWRAPPED candies. They don't have lids that you shut once you are finished retrieving your goodies. They stay open, all the time. I can't even imagine the flies in the summer time. The decorations are creepy AF. You just have to see to believe. The "cash or check only" policy is ridiculous in this day and age. I had cash in my car, and I did not pay attention to the one sign at the register, so of course I have to run out to my vehicle. But the worst part about the visit was when I came back in, there was another customer who casually says "oh! Cash only! Glad I actually have some in my wallet." At that point, I'm standing there counting my cash out and the older woman who is standing behind the counter, very snidely says "at least you can read a sign." I was amazed because the comment was obviously a jab at ME. Her customer. The one buying product in her store so that she can keep the doors open. I have thought about my experience for the last 24 hours. I'm not one to "trash" an establishment on the actions of someone having a bad day. So, I came to Yelp to read reviews just to see if maybe a "bad day" could be the blame. Obviously, she's having a bad life cause this is normal behavior. I agree with what someone else said...go to CVS and buy ya some candy. Don't do it. Girl, it's not worth it. How this business has remained open is a mystery to me. read more

Fudge is awesome! Taking off a couple stars because we showed up on 10/24 at 5:30 when all signs posted say they close at 6:00. After browsing a few minutes with our small kids, another family tried to come in and the girls working stated they couldn't be helped because the store was about to close. The two teenage girls working behind the counter were some of the rudest customer service workers I've ever encountered. Unenthusiastic and judgmental attitudes complimented with the most depressing disposition... bringing down the entire atmosphere of the store. No matter how good the candy is, you're bound to leave the store with a bad taste in your mouth and a chemical smell in your nose that stings with every inhale. They employees do not wear masks although ask that customers do. When I inquired about that policy for health...not political reasons...I was met with hostility. I am high risk & was in a mask. Cute place!! All candy is $9.00 Per pound. Open bucket of candy everywhere you look. Plus chocolates, and nuts and chocolate coffee beans and truffles and fudge. Besides the racist memorabilia on display and the staff's, mainly teenage girls, lack of good customer service, the unwrapped candy is on open display and I recall some of it tasting like bug spray. I don't know of any other candy store in Port A so maybe that is why they have been able to get away with this. read more

Don't forget your MAGA hat. At first glance this is a cute little shop in a good location. Then you walk in and are greeted by large portraits of our last president. Take a closer look at the "historic" wall art and realize it's all pretty racist. I felt truly uncomfortable. The prices are ridiculous & they only take cash. The candy bins are open so no telling how many germy little hands have sifted through the candy. I couldn't leave quickly enough, so I can't speak to the service. I just paid $21 for what seemed to be about $3 worth of candy had I just stopped by HEB and bought it there. They only take CASH. A little inconvenient, but seriously, why ONLY CASH? Sure, they save 1-2% on CC charges, but it makes one wonder. And a rude staff...OMG! Well, maybe distracted and apathetic more so than rude. The two girls had Tiktok vids to surf as they shared a phone screen behind the counter. So urgent was this activity, that they had zero time to actually look up at a customer with a question or provide an answer with more than a syllable or two. And then there are the sanitation concerns. Other reviews have talked about these in great detail so I won't get into it here. But, if a business that serves food doesn't care about the wellbeing of their customers, well, I don't have any interest in rolling the dice on my health by purchasing their products. read more

Cute candy store, nice selection. I was a little creeped out at the open tubs of candy right at kid eye level, for example: candy necklaces in a big tangled pile without tongs to pick them up with. Not very sanitary. I didn't notice anything "racial" in the store, just vintage signs and sayings. Not offensive at all. My biggest complaint is the they have a big sign at the register stating "cash or check only, ATM in back of store". When you go to use the the ATM, it says it's owned by them and they charge you $3.00 to use it. So they get out of paying debit/credit fees AND charge you to use their personal ATM. This was a one time visit for us just because of that, seems like a money grab. read more

The workers are rude, and the candy is meh. What others say about unsanitary conditions is very true. My kids enjoyed picking their own candy but they were also disgusted by the decor. ANd all the grownups were freaked out the the kids were just supposed to run around sticking hands in the candy, that is exactly the scene. Someone had a dog in there, and the employees did not seem to care (definitely not a service dog). We spent $50, and it wasn't much, quite shocking. My entire family and I tried to go to this store this evening on our vacation, intending to buy a ton of candy and anything else sold here. My father, mother, husband, baby, 4 year old son, and I were all turned away at the door with a swift "we're closed." Surprised, I told the young, brunette shop girl, "but the sign says you close at 8:00 p.m." She answered, "I know. We have to close early tonight." And before we could load back into our rental minivan, the lights were off and she was gone- despite the fact that it was still during the shop's business hours. Needless to say, my four year old son is extremely disappointed. We weren't even offered an apology. I guess we will have to take our business elsewhere. Don't waste your time going here. read more
