I was disappointed with company. I was given a pick-up date and when I called they had not even started working on my computer. It took 2 weeks to get my laptop and when i finally got it the power cord stopped working. Not sure how that happens. When I dropped off the laptop the cashier was friendly but when I returned I was told sign here and have a good day. Recommend! Courteous and professional. Nicer customer area than i expected, with operation hours that are friendly for those who can't get away from their office during regular business hours. Agree with Krystal that the timing estimate compared to when the work actually completed were not equivalent. I don't live nearby, and was prepared to drop off the Wii and call it a night, but they indicated that it would be an hour or less, so i stopped off for a beer and dinner. Came back and had to wait another 45 minutes for the repair to complete. (Had i been told that it could take a few hours or couldn't get started until morning, how would i know if they started to work immediately? would have happily gone home and come back the next day and this would be a 5-star review.) Other than that, the price was fair and my Wii works without issue after a month. Why would I need to waste more of my time at this point for a measly explanation from you? The horrible experience, headaches, money wasted, and time lost can't be made up for. You had my console in your shop for months, and you didn't offer me any explanations then. When I asked patiently for one, all your receptionist could offer then was repeatedly emphasizing how busy things were, saying I had to wait longer, and giving me the "option" to either pay more to have it rushed, or come pick up my console if wasn't willing to wait another month, after I had already waited for two months. I'm sad to have to leave a bad review anywhere. But It's honestly shocking to me that you would care so much for what customers have to say on Yelp after you treated them with such disregard. read more

They do not answer the phones, do not answer emails, the voicemail is full, and their locations are closed when they should be open. I caution all consumers on this business. Here is the situation, after 30 days they will sell your xbox, playstation 3 or any items that they have repaired. They sold my sons xbox AFTER I called an informed them that I am extremely occupied and could not make it to their location to pick up but did make a date for pick up. I posted a question on yahoo answers because I was getting disc read errors on my Xbox 360. A lot of people directed me to youtube videos but I was too terrified of destroying my Xbox myself so I chose not to go that route. Someone from Wired Extreme posted their website as an answer along with contact information for the company. I emailed them and they responded very quickly. At first I didn't want to use their service because they are all the way in Texas and I live in San Francisco, California(Go Giants!). But, after visiting their website and seeing all of their great reviews, I decided to chance it. Also, places around San Francisco seemed pricier than Wired Extreme. I had to pay $20 for shipping to the company and back to myself. Sounds like a lot, but again I am in California and they are in Texas. If you could drop it off at their offices then of course there are no shipping fees. After I sent in my unit, it took about two to three weeks for me to receive it back from them. When I got it back the problem seemed to have gotten worse! Now, when I tried to play games with my unit it would freeze up. Before I would get an error and be able to back out and return to the main menu. I was pretty upset. I paid all this money and my Xbox still didn't work. Also, it had been a little more than half a month without my unit. I emailed Wired Extreme afterwards and asked them what I should do and if they even checked my unit before sending it out. When I initially emailed I got an immediate response. This time I didn't get a response for a couple of days. This frightened me because I thought I might have been scammed. When I got an email reply I was asked to call Wired Extreme and was told that I would have to send my unit back to them. Along with the email there was a disclaimer stating this: "Please be aware that if we do not find a problem with the unit, you will owe for shipping and be charged a NFF (No Fault Found) fee if we do not find anything wrong with the unit." This bugged me because their testers obviously didn't find a problem the first time they shipped the unit back to me. So, in my mind if I sent the unit back I would be screwed and still have a broken unit. A lot of my worries were assuaged after I called Wired Extreme. I ended up speaking with Dillon and we talked about what might be wrong with the unit. I told him exactly what the Xbox was doing because I didn't want to be charged more money and not have my unit fixed. He calmed me down and reassured me that he would be able to fix the issue and if not, I would receive a refurbished unit instead. Dillon also apologized and said that it must've been a fluke. I was also able to negotiate shipping payments with him due to it not being fixed the first time. So, I sent my unit in a second time and I received it back in a little more than a week, which I thought was amazing considering the repair time of the first attempt. Dillon also called me, told me that he tested the unit himself, and that it was now working. I felt that that was going above and beyond what he had to do. That was awesome of him. When I got the unit back it worked perfectly. There were no new dings or scratches on the case. It had returned exactly as I had sent it to them. With the last shipping experience I would rate Wired Extreme with five stars. But, with the entire experience I would give them three and a half. I will definitely be using them again if anything else breaks, and I will be recommending them to my friends if problems arise. read more

I took my PS3 to them for repair almost two months ago, and I am still waiting. When I dropped it off they said it would take "3-4 weeks." They have a online tracking system, but it only ever says "Awaiting repairs." I would not use them again, and I recommend that every one els stay away. read more

They are very tricky and deceptive. Especially in their pricing. Their website clearly states repairs take 1 day to 1 and half weeks. The price for that repair on a PS3 is $60 - $90. I called to verify the price and time information. However, once you get your console to the business they will tell you there is a 4 - 5 week wait but you can pay another $40 to have a "Rush" done. You feel trapped a little at that point because you want your console fixed and it is already with them. Who wants to wait 4 to 5 weeks when you been told less time and the website states less time? My situation got worse. They notified me that the console could not be repaired. I paid upfront $108 dollars. The offer I was given was to take my console back and get a $40 refund of my $108 payment. So they keep $60 if they don't repair the system. Or I could get another repaired console for an additional $150 if I wanted to wait 4 to 5 weeks or pay $199 and get it rushed (again) for 1 to 2 weeks. So basically I would have to pay $307 all together for a used/repaired system and wait another week or two. They know your already invested with the original repair payment so they gouge you on a replacement system. read more

When our PS3 succumbed to the Red Light of Death failure in mid-March 2011, I found Wired Extreme online and decided to use their service. They require a phone call to initiate service, which was a turn-off, but I decided to proceed, anyway. I called them, got a quote, paid for the repair and shipping, and sent my PS3 off with the mailing label they sent me. After shipping off my console, I received an email advising me of a repair station failure at their business. I figured that meant it might take a little longer to get my console back. Say a couple of weeks? Try a couple of months! Yes, we finally got the PS3 back on May 10th, and it worked until June 17th, when the RLOD came back with a vengeance. Having a 90-day warranty on our repair, I emailed them Friday night asking how to proceed with the warranty repair. Come Monday afternoon, I initiated a request for warranty repair on their website, thinking my unanswered email may have reached their Spam folder. It's now Tuesday night and there has been no response to either of my requests. At this point, I'm doubtful I'll hear back from them at all. This is no way to run a business, especially one that aspires to serving more than local, walk-in business. read more

I was told my ps3 would be repaired for $60 and it would take 3-4 weeks. It took 6 weeks total, with almost no contact to me, so i was left in the dark. Then, i was contacted at the last moment telling me my ps3 was ready, but that it was going to be $108. They said they had to replace the power supply, which they did it without my knowledge. It CLEARLY says in their own disclaimer that they are to contact you if additional repairs are needed. Then the customer service was rude and unhelpful, telling me that they would just take the new part out. Overall, it was a very poor experience. read more

I dealt with them in the past when my PS3 died on me and they were able to fix it once, but the fix lasted less than 3 months. Even though I purchased their warranty every time I took it back to get it repaired again, they would take weeks and would not give any information on the status of the repair. At one point they were unable to fix it and they refunded some money for the warranty. I went back last week because I needed to get my 360 fixed and I thought they would have improved their customer service skills. I went by around 1:00 PM on a Tuesday and there was only one clerk. He did not acknowledge me when I came in the store and he did not look like he was doing much. There were other customers in the store, but he was not assisting them. After a while he asked me what I wanted and I told him I wanted to get my 360 fixed. He quoted me about $55 and told me it would take about 3 weeks to fix, because of how busy they were, but told me if I paid an extra 20 bucks I could have it back the next day. I decided to get it fixed but when I came back from the car with the console he had gone to the back. I waited for 10 minutes for him to come back and take my console, but I got tired of waiting and left. Don't bother with this store. They will not communicate with you and they lack the most basic customer service skills. read more

Do Not Use Wired Extreme!! Initially, we sent my son's XBOX in for repairs. After 3 weeks, we complained about it taking so long! We received a call from the owner, Dillon to explain why it was so long and also so he could sell us a "warranty". Recently, the XBOX broke again, with the same issue, and we tried to send it back for a warranty repair. Keep in mind that we did this after calling them and being told to send it in. Today they called to tell me about some magic sticker that was missing from the unit and because it is not there (first I ever heard of the sticker) it is no longer covered under warranty. Also, they are not going to send my unit back to me even though they told me to send it!! If it's not picked up in 3 days, they will dispose of it?????? I have contacted the BBB and the District Attorney's office. Don't get mixed up with this group. Way more headache than it will ever be worth. In response to Dillon, No, your receptionist said 3. My system was sent back within the warranty time. When you personally sold me the Warranty Dillon, you never mentioned to me anything about a magic sticker. I don't remember seeing a sticker but also was not looking for it because I knew nothing about it. I also thought I knew all the important things about the warranty because again, you sold it to me yourself. When I call to get the repair info, no one mentioned anything about a sticker, they just said to send the box in. I would think that if the sticker was important enough to void the warranty, someone would say something. But Dillon, thank you for bringing the sticker thing up because it is exactly my point. I would ask your potential customers just one questions. Do you want to deal with an honest business whose word your can take at face value or do you want to deal with a business that requires you to continually look at the fine print looking for magic sticker clauses? Oh, and who refuses to send your stuff back after the refuse to fix it? I think the choice is pretty easy. read more

This is the worst company to deal with!!! I took my computer to them for a computer virus removal 03/18/12. I was told it would take 3-4 days to repair. I called and was told "Still in repair" After 3 weeks, same response. Finally I told them I would come and get and it and take it to anoter place. When I picked my laptop up, 'IT HAD BEEN DROPPED ON THE END" AND THE JACK WAS BROKEN. The counter person handed to me closed, did not inform me of the damages. After I found out about the damages, and called back , the counter girl was rude, and told me i must have damaged it since I picked it up 45 minutes earlier. Come to find out, the reason it was taking so long was: a part had been ordered, (input jack and hard drive) they had not told me and they were trying to cover their tracks without me knowing. The company's owner agreed to fix at no charge to me. I went to pick up my laptop, and the corner of it where it was dropped is still not closing or together. You have to hold the corners together in order to plug in the jack. The owner claims to have ordered a part or bottom part for my laptop, but to this date 05/31/12, my laptop is not repaired. I was told to come and get it and when the part comes in, they will contact me. I don't feel this will happen. I'm very,very disappointed, angry., frustrated that they damaged my Gateway laptop to begin off with. What kind of customer service is this!! Wired Extreme repaired my son's X-Box when he thought he had not other option - Red Ring of Death!! The people in the office we very knowledgeable and polite. They were very helpful with our questions and uncertainty of the situation - upfront about the pricing and the warranty. It took about 2 weeks to complete the repair - we were hoping for about a week. Brought my dying PS3 in for service - I could play saved movies and stream movies, but could not play DVDs or BluRay or games, all of which are problems in my opinion. Anyhow - was told at initial view at the unit that it wasn't the laser, but was in fact the board - $70 paid, and a two week repair window promised - also was told they would email me later that day or the next day with a link where I could check on the status of the PS3 online if I wanted. I never received the email with that link or any other email, actually -- so -- communications are a little off. When I attempted to access their website from work, I was forwarded to a link calling me a moron, or an idiot, or whatever....I called to ask if they had been hacked or something, and was given the reason that they log IP addresses, and if anyone abuses them on the site, the IP is then forwarded to the dummy site....I wonder who at my office gave them a hard time -- sure wasn't me.... Anyhow - was told there were 2 units in front of my PS3 and it would be that day, or the next and I would be good to go. Fast forward another week (3rd now) and I finally got my phone call. The system works now, but - they replaced the HDD (lost all save games, moves, etc) -- I guess that was messed up, too -- anyhow....I'm glad to have my PS3 back. It took them about two weeks for them to tell me they could not fix it. I had to constantly call and go to the location to check in it. It was 5 days before anyone had even started to look at it. I wanted to love this place, but in the end it was such a waste of money. The first issue I had with my ps3 went really well. My system stopped playing blu-ray and games. I took it directly up to wired extreme and they fixed it on the spot in like 30 minutes. The employees were helpful and seemed like a cool place to work. I was telling everyone about this place and was really happy with the service. Months after that my ps3 worked just fine until I got the Yellow light of death. Again I took it to wired exteme but this time the repairs would take a little longer. I didn't have an issue with the wait but my complaint is what happened after i got it back. After I got it back the ps3 got the yellow light of death three seperate times and after wired extreme fixed it 3 times finally was deemed a "lemon" and I received a refurbished ps3 from wired extreme. About a 4 months after i had the refurbished ps3 I got the yellow light of death. I took it directly to wired extreme and paid my fees to get it fixed again! When I get it back it lasted about 3 months and got the yellow light of death again. I called wired extreme and talked to an employee about my situation. My Warranty was out(by a month) and they wanted me to pay again after i had already paid so much into that by this time I could have bought another ps3 with the money Ive paid to this place. The employee on the phone even had the nerve to tell me that the equipment is better now. Sorry but that doesn't help me now does it. I never leave reviews but I was so disappointed with all the money i've wasted that I just had too. OK. Joseph T. I must have got your HDD. I also had my PS3 in because I took it to a place in OKC for YLOD and they suck told me they fixed YLOD but now I had a board issue too and that is why I then had no sound or video. When I contacted Wired Extreme they were really fast to communicate. I came to Dallas for training for a week and took my supposed unrepairable console in and paid for the rush service I had to email and call to get an update and on Friday my last day I got a call back and was told my system was being tested. When I arrived to pick it up I was showed it was up and working. I then drove home to OKC and when I got settled from my drive and plugged in my system excited to do a back up to make sure I saved my data because I was not smart enough to do it before it died. All my data was gone, I called and was told we don't wipe systems unless we call first and only if it is necessary. needless to say I am not happy about loosing my data but I am so happy they were able to save my system. I will say the first time I had them fix my Xbox 360 which had the RROD, I was recommended by my sister, they did awesome. It took about a week longer than they quoted, but since I was traveling an hour to get there it wasn't a big deal. When I got it back it work about 3 weeks then RROD once again. I took it back to them, still under warranty. I also thought I'd see if they could fix my Zune, which was playing music just wouldn't sync to my computer. That's when everything went wrong. They said it was just the hard drive and would be easy to fix. I paid $150 and was told it'd be about 2 weeks, just like the Xbox. Lots of lies were told to me about it being fix when it wasn't, wasting my gas going to pick it up only to be told they hadn't touch it yet. I waited another week to call, Wired Extreme then tells me they tried replacing the hard drive and the motherboard and that didn't fix it (though now I'm not sure about the motherboard, another company will be checking that for me). They said that they needed to send it off to another company, but they needed my permission to send it. Fine and dandy, but I received neither call nor email about this. I had to call them first so they could ask me if they could send it off. I gave the go ahead. This was about 6-ish weeks ago. The whole ordeal took about 3 months with my Zune and about 2 and a half with the Xbox that was under warranty. I got the Xbox back and I inquired about my Zune. I was told it was in shipping and would arrive in about 2-3 days. At this point I was done dealing with young girl at the front and asked for a manager. That's when Dillon comes into play. He told and promised as soon as my Zune gets in he would personally call me. A few days later, I do get a call, but not from Dillon as promised, from the young girl who stays at the front counter. I pick up my Zune and get home, it doesn't work. I plugged my Zune into two different computers. I call the Wired Extreme in Carrollton, TX to ask why it isn't working (no they didn't check it when I picked it up; I walked out of the store thinking it would work). They told me they are now the middle man and can't help me any farther, then my phone dropped the call. They emailed me the other company's information. I called BadGizmo, they are willing to help me find out what's wrong and give me discounts because of the problems I've had with Wired Extreme. BadGizmo also told me they had problems getting in contact with Dillon and the Wired Extreme crew. Which in the 3 months of this problem, there were many times I would call within their hours of operation and I would get no answer. On a scale of 0-5 stars: Customer Service- 0 stars (They do not know how to handle customers) Communication- 1 star (They did call me a couple times without me calling first) Getting things fixed it the quoted time- 0 stars Actually fixing an Xbox- 2 stars (Don't expect that RROD to stay gone long) Actually fixing a Zune- 0 stars (It went to them working; I got it back completely broken) Basically, if you don't mind waiting longer and maybe getting a repeat problem with your system go for it, especially if you're local. If you want a timely service with quality work and employees that treat you well, find someone else. I'd rather pay a little extra and go to the manufacturer and know what I'm sending is being fixed.
