Never anyone else in (not entirely sure how they make a profit) but its full of clocks all ticking away, and chiming away, to themselves. The chap serving always seems to have an assistant and they're dead helpful. They've replaced watch batteries for me before instantly and also they've repairs a watch for me. I noticed that their clocks on sale seemed to be quite expensive in my opinion but then if they're not busy they'll need to mark them up to make a profit! They have a lot of stuff in there - nothing dead modern or trendy but a lot of traditional stuff and they're very kind and chatty in there so its worth a visit if you need a repair or are thinking of treating someone to a clock/watch as a present. No immediate parking but there's a side road where there'll usually be a spot so its not a problem.

My dad is the kind of person who is enthralled by places such as this and so it turned out that I was dragged inside by him knowing full well he had no intention of making an actual purchase. Inside the establishment does not improve much but then again this is a practical place where things are made to order and on the whole the quality is excellent. They even offer a free estimate over the phone and the customer service level seems to be of a very high calibre indeed. This place produces wrought iron gates and other similar products and they seem to give great attention detail which means that the quality of the workmanship is high. On the whole a very professional establishment which serves its customers well.

Since I have previously not had any problems with watches, only that the occasional battery needs changing, I seldom have to visit the Watch Lab unless I'm really desperate to rescue a watch otherwise I could just buy a new watch as that could actually save money. In other words, the service is sometimes pricier than going to buy a new watch (especially if you own an inexpensive watch). The prices aren't cost-effective even for the simple tasks such as replacing a battery or strap but the price all depends on the model of watch or type of strap (as they offer different kinds of material). If you are just looking to have a battery replaced, I would suggest a small watch kiosk corner in St. Johns Precinct not far from the seafood section; this will only cost around £4-5. However, if it's a technical issue regarding your favourite (and expensive) watch, then you may want to consider here.

Opened in 1864, Flaybrick Hill Cemetery was originally set within a rural location, designed as the…read morelast resting place for the people of Birkenhead, but now been encircled by gradual suburban development. Although regrettably much vandalised by local dimwits in recent years (of which there are many), traces of its essential splendour still remain, so that it can readily be likened as a sort of 'Highgate Cemetery' of the north - being rich in Gothic ornament, and containing the graves of many notables of the day. Much has gone however. The beautiful church is now a complete ruin, and the charming lodge at the main gate looks as if the local council has given up on its maintenance altogether. This is a shame, as in the hands of local administrators with more imagination and vision, the cemetery could actually operate as a tourist attraction - indeed plans have been underway for some time to open a National Bat Centre here. In its heyday, and you need only go back 30 or so years before the rot really set in, the cemetery was an extremely pleasant place to stroll around - having a number of walks arranged to give maximum value to the views. You can still see the memorials to Sir William Jackson (founder of Birkenhead Park - the first municipal park in the world); the delightful headstone of George Lance, the Victorian still-life painter, and that of Lock Ah Tam - the tragic murderer of his family during the 1920s, while many others may be identified just by taking a look at the website. Use as a base for visiting the nearby Tam O'Shanter city farm or Bidston Windmill.

In my case I needed the back of a watch engraved for a friend's birthday. As I soon discovered there is more to the game of engraving than meets the eye; size, scale, style of inscription. A very helpful employee of Timpson's helped me with my final choice and did it there and then (while I went for ten minutes of adolescent reverie in the adjacent Games Workshop). On the basis of this great service I wouldn't hesitate to use the other services - cobbling your shoes or cutting your keys and in a really handy location in Liverpool Central Station.
