I had a vision of using the existing cabinet under my electric cooktop to build a new cabinet where I was having the wall oven removed and a gas range put in. From the text message and pictures they didn't understand quite what I was talking about, but when they came over and I could explain it better they got it and executed flawlessly. We wanted to add a dormer to an old house in Renton. Daniel, the estimator at Wise Choice, came out quickly and did an initial estimate, without the benefit of architectural drawings. He was the only contractor to follow through on an estimate which had been promised. Later, when we had the architectural plans, he updated the estimate to account for the structural support in the design. The estimate was higher than we expected. Despite knowing that his company might not get the job if I could not reconcile the cost, he patiently answered all of my questions. He spoke with our architect and tried to find other solutions. He did everything possible to help us make an informed choice about the project, and remained objective throughout the process. When I thanked him for taking the time, even though we aborted the mission, he said, "We are here to help." I would recommend Wise Choice to anyone. read more

I have used WiseChoice for two home projects so far and wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Our first project was a kitchen redo after a water leak. Our wood floors also had to be redone. I cannot recommend Svat and his team enough! I purchased a condo back in September that was built in 1997 and was in sore need of a facelift. His team did a complete gut of the place and turned it into my dream home in 6 weeks! Svat checked in with me every step of the way and made sure I was completely happy with everything. Svat and Vlad's attention to detail is amazing and their work is top notch. They were so patient with me when I was indecisive about cabinet colors and tile patterns. I was looking for help with my outdoor deck and messaged Wise Choice as a possibly partner in fixing my families deck. The first appointment we made together no one showed up. A week later someone did show up for our appointment to review the project and give a bid. Since then I have reached out in following up in regards a big and have not heard back at all. The work on our deck project was exceptional. We had to shore up support beams, raise a sagging deck surface, resurface the deck with composite decking, replace railings, waterproof roof deck surface, and change out an exterior door. Sergiy, their in-house engineer was very responsive with our needs, interfacing with city inspectors, and geo-tech consultants. Yuri did an excellent job on the deck, with a good eye to esthetics. Vlad and Viltali did a great job on the roof deck even in inclement weather. We intend to use Wise Choice again on future projects. read more

I had used wise choice for some repairs to my balcony which had a water leak in the deck. I found them to be very reliable and careful in their work. Water leaks can be tricky to estimate up front but their initial assessment of the likely problem was accurate (flashing along the stucco wall). They did discover some additional rot and were very clear in their communication about extra cost related to that and made sure I understood what was going on. Their price estimates weren't the lowest but nor were they price gouging high compared to others I'd got, and they were amongst the few who seemed to know what they were talking about, as opposed to we'll open everything up and cross our fingers. Very happy with Wise Choice. They provide good work at an excellent value, are personable, honest and reliable. Yes, they charge $150 for in-home estimate (applied to your payment if you hire them). However, it was more than worth it. If you're not ready to pay $150, they'll gladly discuss your project over the phone at no cost. I found the phone call with Daniel to be far more helpful, accurate, and in-depth than the 2 other contractors who gave free in-home estimates. Once he came in for the estimate, it was a pretty clear choice for me. After working with them, it was indeed a Wise Choice ;). They met or exceeded everything I'd want from a general contractor. Communication is great, and they were flexible with my needs/requests and things that unexpectedly came up. They're straight forward about what can/can't be done with clear and accurate explanations, and are great about suggesting alternative solutions to whatever the situation may require. While they are not "master craftsmen" (a few of the finest precision details weren't absolutely perfect), their work is absolutely solid. Especially at the prices they charge, it's an excellent value. The main snag in the project was my painted kitchen cabinets, which ended up taking several attempts to get right. At the root, it seemed to be a bit of miscommunication between myself, other workers I had hired (outside of Wise Choice), Wise Choice, and the subcontractors, that led to problems. For almost any project, there will be snags; How they're handled shows the quality of the company. And in this case, they did everything they could to make sure I was I satisfied. They were honest and reliable from the beginning, and in the end, schedule and budget were exactly as estimated. I'm really happy with their work and sincerely enjoyed working with them. We are delighted by the job Wise Choice Construction did to update our kitchen and remedy and treat mold we discovered behind our cabinets. We obtained bids from several local contractors. After closely reviewing them we decided that Wise Choice offered the most complete range of services we needed. Other bids were lower but did not offer the total package of services that Wise Choice did. Sergiy, Bohdan and their construction pros removed our old cabinets and installed our new ones. They removed the old false ceiling and florescent fixtures, installed a new ceiling with recessed lighting and textured and repainted the entire ceiling. Our new quartz countertop is sparking as is our new larger and brighter garden window. Throughout the entire project the folks from Wise Choice were courteous and kept us informed of what was going to happen next in our project. We recommend that you strongly consider Wise Choice Construction for your remodel or other construction project. I've done major remodeling in 4 homes and my experience with Wise Choice is by far THE BEST. Very responsive! Sergiy upped my comfort level by sharing so much information about how the project would go (he even answered his phone when I had a question while AT the tile store.) My project lead Vlad was incredibly responsive throughout the project and took initiative to contact me to let me know daily status of acquiring materials, deliveries, start of demo, etc. The "other" Sergei who did the on-site work, was very considerate of my home, putting down lots of protective matting for my floors. He put in 8-10 hrs. per day on the project and he paid incredible attention to details (e.g. matching the tile cuts and the grout lines of the shower threshold with the rear shower wall). I am amazed that they were able to delicately dismantle and then reuse my old frameless shower door and enclosure, saving me several thousand dollars on the project! Even when I did crazy-making things like last-minute "Oh, I want a different shower drain!" or "Can we install some safety hardware for my jetted tub?" they took it all in stride and delivered. (A grab bar for the tub wasn't practical so they built a matching step for ease of entry to the tub!) Their experience and professionalism showed when they took preventative measures like adding a component to the shower tower so if a leak ever develops, I'll be able to see it running to the inside of the shower rather than hidden in the wall. We're having a problem with the shower tower that I purchased and they're coming back to remedy that and finish some trim on the shower enclosure. But I have no doubt that will all be remedied and I am extremely happy with the outcome of my project. read more

I had a drainage leak in my upstairs shower that was leaking to the floor beneath. Required a contractor to rip up the shower floor to fix the issue then tile it back up. Got a few quotes, some contractors didn't want to deal with it, one tried to convince me I had to do a full shower remodel. Svat's quote was reasonable and promised he only needed to replace the floor plus about a foot up the sides and could make it unnoticeable that we did a renovation. I was a bit skeptical at first but was very pleased with the finished product. Not only is there no leak but they sloped the floor so it drains much better. They also started when they said they would and actually finished a day ahead of schedule. read more

I set up an appointment with Wise Choice for a virtual estimate. They contacted me during the stated time. I did not feel like the person on the other end walked me through their process very well. He said they could come up with an accurate estimate without seeing the house. I let him know there was a virtual walkthrough on redfin if he needed to get more info. The call lasted maybe 15 minutes. We never went virtual. He told me I would have an estimate by the end of the day or the next. It's been a week at this point. Since then, I realized the virtual tour of the house is no longer available, but they never reached out to let me know that or do the virtual tour. read more

I chose Wise because of reviewers mentioning success with smaller projects and was not disappointed. Often in the Seattle area businesses act like THEY are doing YOU a favor by doing your work - not so with Wise. I had a tub drain that needed to be replaced but could only be accessed from the floor on the lower level after removing kitchen cabinetry. The estimate was straightforward, and once work commenced the project was done ahead of schedule - 2 full days of work instead of the 4 originally estimated. Garbage removal was optional, and that's stated on the quote, but was $250 for a $5,000+ job so that's okay. No other surprises occurred. I'll use them again. read more

I was offered a virtual consultation instead, which I opted for. I received a phone call a bit later, and I explained to the person all of the things I wanted done and I was given a quote over the phone. More than impressed with Svat, Miro and the crew. We started with water damage in our main shower, after the work began we decided to add to the scope or work to include full tile in our master bathroom. They were very accommodating to our sometimes delayed schedule as we secured the tiles for the extra work. Svat would return phone calls without delay, nothing like the other companies we contacted for estimates. Miro was the man on the job, very personable and kept us appraised on the work schedule. Most important was the ability to contact him for questions; we almost purchased 12x12 tile as that was the linoleum which was originally in there. My wife was hunting for tile the day before they were scheduled to return; her favorite was a 12x24 tile which I initially believed would work. Called Miro and he said the 12x24 would be a more modern look; called the wife before she bout the 12x12 lot and are so happy with the results, look soooo much better. Tremendously happy with the work that Peter and Roman did to finish my upstairs bathroom. A straightforward finish of a roughed in bathroom turned into a whole other project when we found out that the roughed drain was not connected to the main sewer line. Other contractors would have probably given up, but Peter and Roman spent the time to think through how to route the new line and redo all the plumbing, while minimizing the extra time needed. Wise Choice did a great job remodeling our kitchen (vent hood, upper cabinets, backsplash, countertops) in a 90-year-old house without any square corners and with very particular requirements from our side. For example: - Due to the house's roofline and our desire for a direct run, they not only ran ducting for the vent hood through our bathroom, but made it very straight and cut custom pieces from duct transitions to give it a surprisingly finished look - Despite inches of height differences between the four corners of our kitchen, they were able to twist the crown molding slightly to make it almost impossible to tell anything wasn't square - They flattened a very wavy old wall in preparation for the backsplash, which now looks great - After hearing a "pop" in the wall while prepping it for the backsplash, they found multiple nails directly through wiring, quickly rewired it, and got an electrician to come or on short notice and simplify the wiring and boxes They clearly strived to do everything in as high-quality of a way as possible and were responsive to feedback on everything throughout the job. Some small critiques on the work include some scuffs on the hardwood floor from moving the refrigerator and too-jagged glass tile cuts prior to providing feedback (but they redid the cuts without any fuss - and the backsplash looks great now!). I'd also recommend ensuring that future clients establish a very specific scope of work to prevent any confusion or friction. (While there was a bit of it for this job, I believe all the change orders were fair.) read more
