The nicest shop on the island for quality keepsakes, gifts, and art. Don't visit Edisto without a stop here.

Pretty simple small gallery, most of the artwork is from the area with local artists gathered from what I saw and they were wonderful pieces. If I had more cash I would think of getting one, but you know maybe in the future. The shop attendant was talking to someone, so we didn't really bother to ask questions and really get to know the place but I thought the gallery was pretty neat.

Sandpiper carries very approachable art -- both in subject matter and prices. The majority, if not all, of their merchandise comes from local and regional artists who reflect Lowcountry and Southern themes. While much of the gallery is devoted to paintings, they do offer a variety of mediums, including free-standing and wall-hanging sculptures, jewelry, woodwork, and even fiber arts that could be worn (hats, scarves). Although I haven't purchased anything (yet!) in my 2-3 visits, the staff is always very friendly and informative, and not the least bit pushy or stuffy. This is definitely a place I will keep in mind for gift-giving occasions.

When I showed her what I had, however, she advised that she could definitely work with me and get my project started. The service I received here was outstanding. The owner is quite chatty, and I learned a great deal about their shop and the location while she worked to write up my order. I left my items and was told they would be ready on a certain date. She called me four days before the date they promised to let me know that my items were ready to be picked up. All that to say that the service, from beginning to end, is exceptional. I brought my two paintings home, and they are perfect. They're stretched exactly how we wanted them. I now know that these incredible pieces of art art properly stretched and will be well maintained for years to come. Thank you, Off the Wall, for such great work. I'll definitely be back when I need my next works framed. FYI - the gallery does more than framing. If you're interested in original visual art in many forms - not just pictures - you can't go wrong here. My next stop will likely be to purchase a couple of pieces that I'm thinking I can't live without.

They change the exhibits out every two months so it's a great place to return to over and over again. The current exhibits upstairs feature Emily Furr and Jamaal Barber. I loved both artists and really enjoyed getting to see their work up close. Several makers in the building have shops open and there is also a small gift shop area in the front of the building by the art vending machine. I picked up a Coburg Cow pin designed by Emily Furr as a souvenir. Also, admission is FREE. They have a small parking lot behind the building and there is a free garage across the street. There is also lots of street parking available. If you go visit, I also suggest going on a day when Swank Desserts is open because it's across the street!
