I recently met Rebecah through a business friend and immediately made a connection. My husband and I met Rebecah when she came to speak at our daughter's preschool. At the time, we didn't think we needed much "help" with our daughter and her behaviors. We mostly just wanted to support her school and maybe learn some techniques as a bonus. About a month after we listened to her speak, our daughters tantrums and behavior got to a point where we needed help. She just seems to understand our daughter. She helped us understand her too. Rebecah was a game changer for us. Our 3 year old was running the family and terrorizing us all. After taking her to be assessed by the public school district, a developmental pediatrician, having her hearing and speech tested, and reading every book we could find on how to handle "spirited children," we felt like nothing was working and we that we needed some professional help. Rebecah is unique in a very good way. She is the sweetest, most non-judgmental, caring, patient, grounded, stable and emotionally healthy person you will ever meet in your life. She also has an incredible inner strength. Additionally she has an extremely healthy inner child that makes her even more effective in helping parents with kids that are difficult to discipline. She uses her connection with nature to also help in the overall healing process. I must add she has a great smile too!! Rebecah helped me with my 3 year old who is now 4. You need to take notes when she is guiding you because what sounds simple and non-important turns out to be life changing if you are willing to do the work she recommends. What she recommends is not at all difficult it is just that sometimes we are stuck in a rut. She will help you out of the ruts. Rebecah can help with children under the age of 5 who are aggressive, overly defiant (like punching adults and running away into the street when they don't get their way). If you have a child who is not overly aggressive or defiant than your problems are cake for her and she will have them solved really fast. I really like Rebecah because she has a lot of knowledge of the various types of parenting schools out there and she picks the best from all of them. I have read tons of parenting books, attended tons of parenting classes and am involved with my child's education & advanced methods and science on child development on a daily basis because we have been in co-op preschools since my child was age 18 months. I feel I am a good critic of her because of my knowledge of parenting and child development. Rebecah understands that not all kids are the same. She knows that the cookie cutter approaches won't work for every kid. She also has very effective tools that are new in the realm of parenting education. Some of these include her knowledge of sensory integration and also natural consequences or regular consequences. Again she will recommend to you and your child those tools that are most effective for your situation. She got us over the biggest hardest hurdles in the beginning and without her I can't tell you the mess we would be in now. My family and I decided to work with Rebecah after feeling unsuccessful with parenting our 8 year old spirited child. Rebecah is very approachable and incredibly knowledgeable about spirited children and what strategies families can use. She gave us real-world scenarios to help our family work better together and provided lots of feedback to our issues. Her insight and observations during our home visit and family visits helped tweak what we were doing at home and how we needed to match the intensity of our spirited child with chores and develop his buy-in to family decisions. Rebecah has been a godsend for our family. She came into our lives when we were feeling totally unequipped to handle some difficult tantrums going on at home. Rebecah came into our lives when pandemic parenting had taken a serious toll on our family. We were struggling with nighttime anxiety with our nine-year old daughter and were just not able to be our best selves as parents. I found Rebecah through a free talk she gave at Cornell Elementary on navigating sibling issues. We were stuck in a pattern of "whack-a-mole" parenting, where we would reach a point of desperation, read a new parenting book, try to implement those techniques and then give up when they didn't work or stopped working. We did a 12-week session with Rebecah and emerged from the program so much more confident in our parenting. I would highly recommend Rebecah to anyone who feels like they need support creating a consistent approach to parenting and also to anyone who has especially strong-willed/spirited children. She didn't psychoanalyze or label our kids. Instead, she gave us very specific instructions on techniques to try. And if those techniques weren't a good fit, she would help us tweak them until they were a good fit for our kids and their specific personalities and needs. We would constantly throw additional questions at her (but what about when we're traveling? or in the car? or at the store?) and she always had an answer that made sense. Her program has a strong emphasis on compliance (e.g., getting kids to get their shoes on the first time you ask) and on getting kids to participate in chores and in making family decisions. When we started with Rebecah, I told her that I was feeling like someone else would be parenting my kids better than me because I had absorbed so many conflicting messages on how to be a good parent. Rebecah Freeling is an amazing educator, for both children and adults. My daughter attended Rebecah's childcare center in Ohio for over two years, thriving under Rebecah's influence. When my daughter first began preschool, she had separation anxiety. Rebecah guided us all through it, teaching us how to ease into the transition. My daughter transitioned so well that we often had to pry her away at the end of the day. Whenever we had parenting issues arise, Rebecah would be the first person I would ask for guidance. She expertly guided our daughter through the grief of losing her grandmother, the challenge of our family getting lice (and told us how we could treat it without putting nasty poisons on our bodies), and our difficulties with TV tantrums. She helped advise us as we tested for allergies that we suspected of causing behavior issues, and she guided us to nature-based resources we didn't know existed. Rebecah holds such wisdom into how and why children behave the way they do. On one occasion, Rebecah spontaneously grabbed some felt and scissors and began telling the children a story - a story that directly related to how my daughter was feeling and the anxiety she was experiencing at that moment. At the end of the story, my daughter relaxed and asked Rebecah if she could take the felt characters home and tell her dad the story. As she repeated the story several times to her dad and I, we could see her confidence grow as she began to see herself as the brave giraffe in the story. It was a brilliant spontaneous teaching for not only our daughter, but for us as parents and how we can reframe her fears into stories that teach. Apart from our own experiences, I witnessed Rebecah's expertise through her work with other families, some with very challenging behavior issues. Children who were defiant or aggressive at the beginning of their time at the preschool changed throughout the year; their behavior calmed, they learned how to express themselves cooperatively, and they blossomed. Her knowledge of how to reach all children, regardless of their ability or issues, is a gift that she has honed into a great skill that has helped so many. Rebecah modeled to us a way of raising children compassionately, cooperatively, and with a rain-or-shine relationship to nature. She inspired us (and continues to!), mentored us, and helped ease our concerns of parenting in a materialistic and often frazzled world.
