How do I start? Witte Stables is beyond incredible, I spent several hours researching a place for my 10 year old daughter to get horse riding lessons. I even made the mistake of getting a groupon for a 4 day package at, I digress an unnamed stable (BIG MISTAKE). Peter and Susan Witte of Witte Stables run a fantastic operation. If you want to take a single lesson, if you want to do a camp, multiple lessons, or if you want the chance to become a CHAMPION, thats what they do and do it very well. Their work ethic, training abilities and excellent facilities not to mention very well trained horses was a blessing. My 10 year old daughter has been taking riding lessons for four years at Witte Stables, and she loves it. She has never had a disappointing lesson or bad experience the entire time! Peter and Susan Witte are easy to work with and are patient encouraging teachers. We discovered them through a Saturday kids camp, and signed up for lessons after that good experience/introduction. Peter and Susan Witte have an excellent riding program that really engages children. They are professional, welcoming and very experienced trainers. They provide excellent hands on training for both riders and horses. They offer a fun, barn family experience at competitive shows and their ability to interact with kids is second to none. If you want to learn how to ride horses, than come here! This place is so nice. They teach you everything you need to know about horseback riding. My daughter attended two 5-hour days of horse camp including a riding lesson each day. After having attended a 1-week Girl Scout horse camp this past summer, she was super excited to spend some more time riding and learning more about horse husbandry. But she was pretty disappointed by the time I picked her up on the second day. She is 11 and has some experience riding. In her opinion, the riding "lesson" was relatively short (she says about 20 minutes each day, but she is 11 so her sense of time may not be entirely accurate). She was also really frustrated because her "lesson" was entirely on a lead being walked around the arena. She asked if she could ride around the arena a couple of times without being on a lead but was told "no." She also was frustrated with what she called a lot of "busy work," like word-find worksheets, etc. The camp is billed to be appropriate for ages 5-18, but I think that older kids or kids that have even a little bit of riding experience will be frustrated. I wish that we would have spent the money on a family trail ride instead. read more

I can't say enough about Witte Stables! I initially visited their stables to take my nieces to their wonderful kid's camp program and decided that I, personally, wanted to get back into taking horse riding lessons (had done that as a young child). The experience has been absolutely incredible, as I have realized the rich history that both Susan and Peter Witte have had in not only horse training, but training riders from an early age (and some who are "not at such an early age!") The favorite part of my week is having my weekly lesson where I enjoy the time on the horse, always learn something to improve on, and learn something about these incredible animals at their stables! Would highly recommend for the kid's camps, lessons, etc. Has been such a positive experience all around! read more

Excellent camp! My daughter is 7 years old and she had the time of her life. Peter and Susan Witte were wonderful with the children and really did a great job explaining horse etiquette. She has signed up for riding lessons and I may have started something I may not have wanted to! I recommend for all ages as it is a safe and fun learning environment. read more

Without getting into details, I credit Witte Stables & Susan & Peter with helping my daughter get through an extremely difficult transition in our lives and to thrive under challenging circumstances. My mom bought a Groupon for a 5-hr day camp for my 5 year old nephew. Prior to purchasing, she called and talked to Sudan's brother who said she could stay at the camp to watch, as to not leave a 5 year old with strangers. She called a couple days before the camp and spoke to Susan to confirm one more time. Susan agreed and said that was perfectly fine. Upon arrival, Susan called my mom a liar, and said she was not allowed to stay at the camp as it was a liability, but she could come back 30 minutes before the camp was over. My mom reminded her of the conversation they shared days before and Susan denied it. My mom told her she did not feel comfortable leaving my 5 year old nephew because he did not know anyone and wouldn't feel comfortable. Susan still would not let my mom stay. My mom and nephew left, disappointed and sobbing because they could not participate. This was a surprise for my nephew and he was SO excited. I have never been so disappointed with customer service in my life. Susan also said "well, you leave him at school with strangers so what is the difference?" The difference is that ALL teachers and staff at school are fingerprinted, licensed and have background checked. This statement is so ignorant. We have requested a full refund from Groupon and will be sharing this terrible experience with everyone we know as well as sharing online in an effort to prevent other people from dealing with the same thing. My girls (9yrs & 6yrs) love the riding camps & lessons at Witte Stables. They're always excited to ride the beautiful Arabian horses and learn all about them. Not only do they educate the kids about proper equine care and feeding, they also bring in a veterinarian to talk with the kids and have a great craft program. Peter and Susan Witte do a fabulous job with the kids and it is always on the top of our list for camps in Scottsdale! read more

My daughter recently attended a one-day camp at Witte Stables. It was such a great experience. Peter and Susan know what they are doing- the camp was well organized, the activities age-appropriate and fun, and with the riding lesson they were friendly, patient and safe.
