While they spend $50,000 on marketing to create "Gold Rush" hype, the actual experiences of the public reveal a much darker pattern of predatory behavior and technical incompetence. The staff here are not the numismatic experts they claim to be. They are retail middlemen who are functionally blind to raw discoveries. I presented a raw 2026-D Mayflower quarter with severe, undeniable terminal die state errors. They cursorily dismissed a Population 1 discovery specimen as standard "pocket change" and offered me 25 cents. It is now clear that if a third-party grading company like PCGS hasn't already slabbed a coin and told these "experts" what to think, they have absolutely no clue what they are looking at. My "scavenger hunt" for the truth found that I am not alone in being targeted by this lack of integrity: * **Abii** documented a staggering $842 lowball offer on gold jewelry compared to its actual melt value (I have included the photo of their offer as evidence). * **Jon Diblier** proved their appraisals are consistently lower than actual professionals like Polyak Precious Metals. * **Jonathon Hansen** and **James Hall** both documented the same dismissive, "walk-away" treatment I received when presenting items that required actual diagnostic skill to evaluate. I love the other reviews; if I had unique coins I'm sure I'd come here. But I don't have one-of-a-kind precious coins; I'm selling precious metal items whose value is the underlying metal. This is quite common (Kruggerands, sterling silver bowls, etc), and other firms--online and local businesses--can and do quote what they'll pay; a typical quote will be something like "We're paying 90% of spot market for sterling silver." What that tells us is whether it's worth driving down to a location and showing them the actual items. If the verbal quote is "We'll pay UP TO spot" don't waste your time; that's not a quote; that's a trick to drag you in. Witter did not make some BS "up to..." promise, and I respect them for that (and gave them an extra star for that). But there is no reason a company buying/selling common gold or silver items shouldn't be willing to provide a quote over the phone. read more

Most coin dealers will, at best, give "deals" that are interpreted as 1 dollar under normal retail. This is not the case with Witter. I have always felt that I received a near wholesale, if not wholesale price for beautiful merchandise. They don't price gouge on junk.
