Due to the small size of the store, the selection is not comprehensive, but I always find very cool things every time I come in. I usually shop for gunpla, military model kits, game miniatures, and hobby supplies like paints and glues. I'm fine with paying a bit more to support a local store, but I'm always pleasantly shocked that prices here are either roughly the same as online or cheaper! I don't keep up with anime figure prices anymore so I can't tell you if the prices on those are as competitive. I can only vouch for the model kits/miniatures/supplies. The biggest downside is the place is super cramped, but in a way it's also somewhat of a plus because I can look around at the various stacked boxes and find lots of treasures. Plus the person behind the counter (think he's the owner?) is very nice and patient.

When I tried to use it, I realized the tip has an unpolished, sharp metal burr from manufacturing that literally catches, tears hair, and scratches the scalp. It is completely unusable and hazardous (see photos). On August 29, 2026, I returned to the store politely asking for an exchange for an undamaged one or a refund under California's Implied Warranty of Merchantability. Instead of helping, the employees outright refused, laughed directly in my face, and refused to provide any manager or owner contact information. Selling sharp, defective accessories and openly mocking young customers is absolutely shameful. Avoid this place at all costs -- a complete tourist trap with zero accountability.

Konstantine scheduled an appointment to meet with my family and I to see the collection rather than having us come to his location. He arrived earlier than the appointment time only to find out that there were only two small sip lock bags of 50 cent pieces, nickels and pennies. We were all amazed at what the collection consisted of. I felt bad knowing that what I told him was untrue. I know that Konstantine deals with much larger collections and had we known ahead of time what it truly consisted of we wouldn't have wasted he and his son's time and gas taking the trip across the bay. I do have to say how professional that he was under the circumstances. I really appreciated his willingness to help us out by coming to us rather than having us come to him. If you've ever ridden the 38 bus, I'm sure you've noticed Alex's Gift Shop. It's got a bright yellow awning with red letter, advertising the various items they have for sale. This includes batteries, telephones, socks, "hardwares", "walkman & CD", and by the way tear gas. Yup, you read it right. TEAR GAS. Now, the thing about the tear gas is it's been some effort to scratch it off the awning. This is because, as far as I can tell, they do not sell tear gas here. They don't see "walkman" or CDs, either. But what they do have is an amazing selection of cheap housewares and tools. I got: - Nice new can opener with bottle opener built in - $3.99 - Turnover Spatula - $3.99 - Bag of small zip ties, 5 colors - $1.99 Mom was doing inventory and her daughters, who couldn't have been more than 8, were working the register. The total came to $12.01, which is obviously wrong, since it should have been under $11 after tax. But this is the TL. I was way too drunk to do that math at the time. Looking at the receipt, something got rung up at $4.99 instead of $3.99. But whatever - the point is, had I shopped at BBB and HD for this items, it would have cost twice as much. Updating my review after tonight's drama online. My husband and I went onto the whatnot stream, after several months away, and my husband won a giveaway. Generally that's okay, but not for him. The host proceeded to block him (which is his right, so i'm not saying anything about that), but then trashed us to thousands of people online. SO unprofessional! I said that and was ignored, obviously. Apparently, we're banned from the shop, which is fine. But seriously, we wrote reviews about verifiable experiences, and the host tonight literally trashed us to thousands of people who don't know us and don't know what our experiences were like at Witter. He literally said that people can't trash others online like that, yet that is exactly what he did to us. Trashing us and inciting others to do the same is very immature. Extremely rude and unprofessional behavior. My husband felt compelled to delete his review, even though it's our right to review our experiences. So yeah, be careful what you say about Witter, because they will not let it go. There is too much hate in this world for behavior like that. Just be nice and professional to people, that's really all we ask. Businesses should be fair and professional, not malicious and vindictive. Honestly, if they had just reached out to us in the first place, this could have been avoided. My husband was trying to be the bigger person by entering the stream tonight and let go of the past, but they made that impossible. He even deleted his review. I have been collecting coins for over 30 years and I can sincerely say that Witter coins is my hands down favorite coin shop, not only in the Bay Area but all of California. My first interaction was with Dean himself in 2002. Dean is a real gentleman that established the core values of the shop. He is honest, helpful and very fair. Recently, I visited the shop for the first time since Dean's retirement and I was very pleased to see that Seth, the new owner, is carrying on the traditions of the shop. Even better, Seth is embracing expansion of the shop's services and hours while bringing the business forward technologically as well. Seth submitted some coins to PCGS and CAC for me which was very appreciated. His inventory is immense and his prices very fair. It is obvious that his goal is to promote numismatics and build excitement about coins, not squeeze collectors for the last cent. I visited this shop today after coming across a great deal on a storage auction. I was really impressed with the free parking provided, which is a gem (no pun intended) in the city. I was greeted by the doorman and assisted promptly by knowledgeable staff. The process was very easy and also informative. I have an avid knowledge of the numismatic field, so it was great to work with such experts. I expected to receive an offer which I estimated prior to coming in and the actual offer was significantly more than I expected. (Score!) The whole environment was very stress free and pleasant. I have been to a lot of places where I have been concerned about safety, but this firm has a very keen eyed Security staff. I am a long time coin collector and this is really one of the best coin stores I have ever seen. I live in Houston and travel to San Francisco every few months and decided to finally visit them - my coin buddies have long told me to visit Witter Coin. I am glad I did. I took a few coins to sell as well and the two guys that work there, Sean and Luis, worked together to quote me a price that I was very happy with - I actually traded in these coins to buy new coins for my collection. I made an appointment with James, who carefully and respectfully inspected my amateurish boyhood collection stored inside an empty chocolates box (with dividers intact for separating coins). There was enough to make a modest sale of all the contents. Cannot hang on to things forever.... Better to see them enjoyed and preserved by other collectors.
