I purchased a jade bracelet and ring from two of their first online (live) auctions and got really swept up in the excitement. After scoring the jewelry, I had a little buyer's remorse, nervous that I'd made a mistake buying in a hurry and without seeing the jewelry in person... I just got them and I'm in love! They are even more beautiful than they were on the somewhat grainy livestream. I am so happy and can't wait for the next auction! I bought a tennis bracelet during a sale on 9/29/24, but NEVER RECEIVED my order. On Nov. 11, after leaving a negative review, they cancelled & refunded my purchase. Instead of making things right, the owners took to TikTok, sharing a twisted version of events rather than simply following through on my order--which I'd been waiting over six weeks for. Here's what happened: On Sept. 29, I placed my order with full awareness that shipping might take time, but I expected some level of communication from the shop. I was excited to buy from them after seeing positive reviews online. On Sept. 30, I emailed them to add a note to my order about me being out of town until Oct. 24. I didn't receive a response or confirmation to that email until Nov. 11 (more on that below). On Oct. 24, after nearly four weeks without any updates besides an initial confirmation email, I followed up. They finally replied that day, saying they were still waiting for my piece from their supplier. On Nov. 7th, I received an email that my item was on its way and that I would receive it by Nov. 8th because of express shipping. On Nov. 8th, I stayed home all day to wait for my package because it required a signature. But my package never came. When I checked the tracking number, it showed that UPS hadn't even received my package. On Nov. 9th, I got an email from John of Mureta asking for a review of their store. At this point, the store had taken my money, had not fulfilled my order and had not communicated to me to the status or whereabouts of my order. So I left them a 1-star review. Then, on Nov. 11, I received a notification from the Shop app saying my order had been refunded. I called the store and left a voicemail to find out what was going on. No response. Eventually, I commented on one of their TikTok videos about their poor communication. That's when the owner finally responded--on TikTok. The short version of what went down: 1. The owner claimed they didn't have my order number. 2. They "fired" me as a customer. 3. They accused me of lacking compassion and trying to "destroy" their small family business. 4. They went on to make a TikTok bashing unsatisfied customers, even referencing my review as "crude." I've attached a screenshot of my review on Google and nothing about it is "crude." But WHERE is this energy when it comes to communicating with paying customers offline? In re to the email from the owner on Nov. 11 I had mentioned - he was responding to my email from Sept. 30th and asked why I left a bad review after the store had followed my instructions of delaying my order. How could they have delayed my order for me when, by their own admission on Oct. 24, they hadn't even received my item from their supplier yet? Instead of trying to make things right, they just canceled my order. On TikTok, the owners claimed I should have reached out if I was concerned (one even said they hadn't received any emails from me). Despite my efforts above, they only responded when it negatively affected their public image. The time and effort they spent on TikTok could've been used to fulfill orders and respond to customers. Now, I keep getting notifications on Tik Tok from their followers reprimanding me for voicing my experience. They are openly allowing this which is pretty disgusting on their end. Overall, I get a small business with high demand will have delays. But I did not expect such poor communication and definitely did not expect the owners to react nor respond so egregiously. The owners mention numerous times that they are limited in work space to fulfill orders. PRO TIP: limit orders or cut back on sales that create an influx of orders that you can't fulfill in a timely manner. Ultimately, they took my money and my order, didn't fulfill it after 6+ weeks THEN canceled & refunded my order after my HONEST review. A review the owner asked for on Nov. 9th. Owner Jon took to TikTok to distort reality of what he did with my order and to me as a customer. I spent almost $3k on a bracelet only to wait almost 2 months for it and end up with no bracelet at all. Maybe have some "compassion" for your paying customers who spend their hard earned money at your store and receive poor customer service instead of turning us into villains for social media. Found this gem of a store via tiktok a while ago and decided to go check it out in person when I was in the city. I was worried about parking since it was in the busy city of SF. To my surprise I was able to find parking quite easy on the street infront of the store (although you did have to pay to park/parking meter.) Walking into the shop was like walking back in time to a jewelry shop from the 20's! From the display cases to the light fixtures, to the numerous amounts of books on display. Everything dripped with elegance! Both the owner/ and the employees were super friendly, welcoming, and very understanding. I was looking for a tennis bracelet and I was amazed by how affordable the prices were. They had a ton to choose from! In different sizes and colors (gold or white gold.) I ended up leaving that day with a white gold piece. However, after a few days I decided white gold wasn't my color. So I came back for an exchange and they were so friendly and understanding about it. They made the exchange so easy for me I was so happy, since I was the one inconveniencing them with it! I'm so disappointed in my experience with Mureta and Co. As part of their Canada Day sale, we ordered a tennis bracelet, earrings, and it was supposed to come with a free upgrade (potentially worth thousands according to them). The earrings were already in stock when I ordered, but the bracelet was being made to order. After about 6-7 weeks, the items still had not shipped, and I saw that the items were significantly cheaper online than they were when I placed the order. I emailed customer service asking if they could honor the current pricing, to which they replied that the best they could do would be to give me store credit for the difference in pricing for the earrings only. That seemed reasonable to me, and I accepted that offer. The items finally shipped after about 8 weeks, and when I received the package, there were no earrings, no upgrade, and the bracelet arrived in a broken box. I checked my Shopify account and saw that the store had cancelled the earrings, and instead of the difference in price issued me $720 of store credit. I called when I received the package to say how frustrated I was having waited for so long to not receive an item that was in stock 2 months ago, for the quality of what I received, and for the missing items. Instead of being met with any sort of apology from the store about the mishaps on their end, I was given a huge attitude from the representative. She told me she would no longer be honoring the difference in price since the price of the earrings has now increased from our last talk, but she would "do me the favor" of reordering the items she mistakenly cancelled and not charging me a higher price for them because of tariffs (that were seemingly implemented in the last week). It's worth noting that these earrings were no longer in stock (and presumably sold to someone else) so I would have to wait for them to be ordered again. I had to multiple times stop the conversation to voice how inappropriate the tone of the person was, especially for an error on the part of the store. We ended the call finally agreeing to reorder the earrings and ship them out the following week, send the upgrade I was promised with it, and issue the refund for the difference in price that I was supposed to originally receive. The next afternoon I received a voicemail from the owner of the store, saying he "does not tolerate disrespect" and they are cancelling my order and to never order from them again. I was stunned. I called him back to discuss what had happened, but it was clear he would not answer. I texted him, assuming he had heard misinformation from his representative, because anyone listening to that call would have been appalled with how she was speaking to me. Instead he threatened me that if I "continued to push this he would not be happy." I have truly never been treated like this as a customer, especially from the OWNER of an establishment, and definitely not from somewhere I spent nearly $3K with. From reading the other reviews, it seems as though if you have any sort of issue you are at risk of being fired as a customer, having videos berating you online, or just overall being treated terribly. It took 2 months to receive the package, which was missing items that were part of the promotion that were supposed to be included. They also inadvertently canceled items after waiting 2 months for them, and when my wife called to inquire about this was treated so rudely by the employee. In addition, we needed the ring resized after the wedding, 2 days before we moved from California to Michigan, and Mureta, without hesitation, offered to send the ring to us after they resized it. It was delivered with an overnight delivery! They went above and beyond. So thankful that we will be coming back to SF to buy another set of rings later this year. I purchased a bracelet during their sale on 9/30, but after more than a week with no shipping updates, I reached out to customer service for an estimated shipping date. I completely understand delays during sales, but I just wanted some communication. Unfortunately, I never received a response to my email. After 10 days of waiting, I checked their Instagram, where their bio stated not to DM for order updates and to email customer service--which I had already done with no reply. Desperate for an update, I sent a DM anyway, and someone managing the Instagram account responded, telling me they were swamped and waiting on more stock. This raised the question: why keep selling items they don't have in stock? I once again asked for an estimated shipping date, but received no response. It's now been 3 weeks since my order, with no updates or replies to my emails. I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of communication and customer service. I've been going to Mureta for almost 3 years every time I'm in San Francisco. The owners Jack & Caroline bring such fresh energy and expertise to antique and vintage / estate jewelry. I visit a lot of shops and there is no equal to their professionalism, approachability and knowledge. I also find their pricing very fair and transparent. My friend bought a sapphire ring that she soon discovered was too large - she came back a week later and they exchanged it no questions asked. What a fabulous little antique shop! The woman that helped me was extremely friendly and patient with me while I tried to make a decision between one of thirty or so antique tea cups. They have an amazing selection of old tea cups and they are all so beautiful (hence why it took so long for me to decide!). The tea cup I ended up choosing cost 40 bucks, which is pretty steep but it is gorgeous and in all my tea cup shopping pretty reasonable for the quality---more detail = more expensive, as a general rule. Double take, "tea cups? Huh?" I went in to this small nook of an antique shop to answer my personal WTF. The answer is easy, it's a specialty place with an incredible selection of antique, bygone dining sets, china, dinner bells etc. "Oh My Cheeves has rung us for dinner. Shall we my nineteenth century guests?" You name it, Mureta's has everything in Old OLD School dining essentials. A second look and you find antique opera glasses, a business card brass monkey ("monkey-monkey"). I live in the neighborhood and am obsessed with vintage jewelry but never went into this store very much because I thought everything was too expensive and the vibe felt kind of stuffy. The new owner, John, is so nice and very welcoming. I fell in LOVE with a vintage emerald ring, but it was more than I wanted to spend on a Tuesday afternoon. John was so great working with me on the price and told me that they do trades. I ended up bringing in a bunch of jewelry that I had from my family and he was so kind and honest about what pieces had value and which ones did not. In the end we made it work and I am the proud owner of my new favorite ring! Do yourself a favor and just go in to take a look. They have pieces from all different time periods and the entire staff is so kind and happy to let you try things on, take pictures, etc. I will now be stopping by here much more often, it's my new favorite store in the neighborhood. read more

Maybe I caught him during a particularly bitchy moment but I was very unimpressed with the owner. I was walking by his store when I noticed 3 pieces of furniture and some fabric that had been left outside. They weren't in very good condition and had no price tags so I thought that maybe they were being discarded. With a little fixing, two of the pieces had potential and I was interested in keeping them. I wanted to inquire inside but the gate appeared closed and when I looked through the window, the place appeared empty. I was in the neighborhood for a couple of hours so I kept glancing in that direction, also observing other passersby and their obvious curiosity. I went back again to peek inside the window; that time, I saw that there were people inside and that the gate wasn't locked, just pulled partly shut- at this point, I decided that that the furniture most likely wasn't being given away but I was still interested in buying two of the pieces. I walked in, wasn't acknowledged and since the people inside were in a conversation and I didn't want to interrupt, I decided to wait till someone addressed me. About 10 minutes passed before the owner finally opened his mouth in my direction and with great irritation, asked what I wanted. I said that I was curious about the furniture outside and he literally, PHYSICALLY pushed me out the door as he barked that he was in the middle of a private appointment and that's why the door was locked. (Except that as I explained, nothing was locked, else I wouldn't have been able to get inside.) So not only was he extremely rude about kicking me out, he also attempted to make me feel stupid. This whole situation could have been avoided very easily if he'd left a note on the door indicating that he is occupied with a private appointment and if he put price tags on the furniture sitting outside or if he simply informed me right away that he wasn't actually open. Overall, very odd way of doing business, in my opinion; I'll be taking mine elsewhere. read more
