Items are organized but nevertheless it took a bit of time to locate what we needed. Asset Recycling houses over 30,000 square feet of new and ready-to-use resources. My son has been here often so he's becoming familiar with certain areas and found what he wanted. I, on the other hand, was overwhelmed. Asset Recycling is a division of Youth Fair Chance, Inc., and in operation since April of 2003. They are a non-proft organization who works to divert usable building materials from landfills while offering donors all allowable tax incentives for their contributions. The charity's focus is to provide today's youth with a fair chance for a safer and more environmentally friendly future by eliminating usable building materials from landfills.  It provides neighborhoods and individuals, especially the ill, needy, and youth, new and affordable building materials for home projects. While the Asset Recycling warehouse primarily contains windows, doors, paint, plumbing supplies, flooring, and lighting, you can also count on finding interesting deals, arts and crafts items, holiday and party supplies, home decorating items, fabrics, and more. Asset Recycling is open to the public with a focus on serving those most in need of assistance with safe and affordable housing.  Inventory changes often, so frequent visits are encouraged. Asset Recycling is located on Holt Road with entrance and parking in the very back of the building. Stop in when you're in search of building supplies and have some time.

This leaves a LOT of things that still need to be recycled, but with no home. Rock-Tenn is that home. Rock-Tenn will take nearly everything. Plastics 1-7, cardboard, even phone books. In fact they have a special dumpster for phone books. So the next time you go out to your mailbox, see the stack of phone books that have been left, wonder why we still need paper phone books in 2011, then decide to get rid of them, take them here. Pros: - They are a single sort facility so you don't have to separate your plastics from glass and such, but try not to throw garbage in their bins. - Their gates are typically open 24 hours, but even if they are not, you can park outside them and walk a short distance (20ft) to the bins. - The bins are very large so there's plenty of room, especially in the back because most people are too lazy to walk to the back of the bins. Cons: - Their parking lot puts on a clinic on how to make white mud. If you just washed your car or are wearing your vintage chucks, i recommend parking in the road area otherwise your wheel wells and shoes will be covered. -They don't take Styrofoam. Yes, I know it's typically #6, but their facility doesn't have the machine to handle it properly. -Lazy patrons tend to not pick up their dropped recycling, so the area around the bins is often littered with lazy people evidence.

I did not see a phone book booth bin this time, and I unfortunately had some to recycle. I put them in the cardboard bin. :/ I know they take them from previous visits. I feel bad when I do stuff like that, but at least I am recycling?? In Seattle, they just put everything in one bin, and it gets picked up. Also, I saw another reviewer said they think they are open 24/7. I have specifically looked a few times on my way home from work downtown, and have noticed that the gates were closed. I didn't notice a chain, but I would figure that they don't want people all over the property all the time. So glad someone on the south side offers this service for free. Awesome-and easy access!!

Billing has been awful - not billing for months, then sending a "past due" statements. Not crediting for payments being made. I canceled their service multiple times, by phone calls, by emails, and by snail mail, and they kept sending trucks for service and billing me for services never rendered and eventually charged me a fee to stop their service. Worst ever company ever I ever dealt with ever. EVER! Other businesses in town had the same experience with them. Can I give negative stars? Awful. I never bother to give reviews, but this one prompted me to. Terrible. Atrocious. Horrendous.

They're in charge of issuing the refunds to customers. As of today, which is April 21, 2021, I still have not received my refund, despite my herculean effort to get it over the past 6 months. Stericycle has employed every tactic to delay giving me my refund, even though they received my return package kit in December 2020. Over the past 6 months, I've followed up with them more times than I can count. Every time, they've given me a lot of excuses for why they can't get this done, starting from: "We don't know why the cheque is being delayed, this appears to be a system issue - we'll escalate it and get back to you." I never, ever hear back from them after they promise to escalate the issue and get back to me. Not one single time. When I followed up again in February, they told me the cheque was processed but there was a delay in it being mailed out. When I called again one month later, I was told the same thing - they're still having a "delay" and they don't know why. Even though I was told over and over that they will "escalate the issue", no one even seemed to be attempting to look into this. In late March, I was fed up beyond belief. I asked them to resolve the issue NOW; I will not hear any more empty, dismissive promises. One of the agents we spoke with on the phone said they'll escalate the issue and have the refund sent out by the end of March. And of course, we received absolutely nothing, even after March passed. When we followed up again in April, I asked their agent what happened to their promise to have it sent out in March. She had the nerve to tell me that "no one should be able to make that promise". I asked her if anyone looked into this at all during March, and she just repeated "no one should be able to make any promises". I managed to get this issue raised to a supervisor, who told me that it will take them another 2 months to get this resolved. I said no, that's not acceptable. They've already been dismissing me for half a year and we're nowhere close to a solution. This has caused me so much time, energy and stress. I asked to have the issue further escalated. I was directed to a manager, who seemed a little more helpful. She promised to look into this and have the cheque sent out to me in 6 to 10 business days. I was so hopeful that this will be finally resolved. But nope. After that conversation, I did not hear from her again. When I haven't heard back after a full week, I followed up with her again. She directed me to an account manager, stating he'll call me by the end of the day. Well, this account manager didn't call me until the next day. He explained that they apparently don't have the funding approval to issue the refunds. Since this situation has dragged on for so long, he said they'll see if they can issue my refund without going through the "approval process". He said he'll discuss this with his management team and promised to get back to me with an answer by April 19th at the latest, no matter what the answer is. Guess what? I never heard back from him. Today is April 21st. I tried reaching out to him yesterday and today, and left him a couple of voicemails. I even tried reaching out to the manager who initially directed me to him. She managed to get a hold of him, and he promised her that he'd call me back "within the hour". Well, that did not happen. So I still don't have any answers or the faintest clue when I'll be able to finally get my refund and put this behind me. This has been the worst customer experience of my life. I wish no one has to go through what I've been going through with Stericycle. I'm also very unhappy with Allergan, the Fibristal manufacturer company who hired Stericycle to take care of their recalled medication, but I don't have the energy to get into it now. It's basically Stericycle who's withholding my money now. I almost want to just forget about the refund, because I am so tired at this point. But I'm not willing to give up the fight. This isn't just about money anymore; it's about everything else they took from me - my wasted time, my energy, not to mention my stress levels. This is not right; they can't just withhold money that is legally owed to me because they feel like it. Can you imagine if I did that with my bills?! I'd be phoneless, powerless and kicked out of my home. We live in a lawful society so companies cannot just rob people and get away with it.
