I went with my son to Asset Recycling yesterday to purchase a couple things he needed. I honestly have no idea how people find things here without an employee. Items are organized but nevertheless it took a bit of time to locate what we needed. Asset Recycling houses over 30,000 square feet of new and ready-to-use resources. My son has been here often so he's becoming familiar with certain areas and found what he wanted. I, on the other hand, was overwhelmed. Asset Recycling is a division of Youth Fair Chance, Inc., and in operation since April of 2003. They are a non-proft organization who works to divert usable building materials from landfills while offering donors all allowable tax incentives for their contributions. The charity's focus is to provide today's youth with a fair chance for a safer and more environmentally friendly future by eliminating usable building materials from landfills.  It provides neighborhoods and individuals, especially the ill, needy, and youth, new and affordable building materials for home projects. While the Asset Recycling warehouse primarily contains windows, doors, paint, plumbing supplies, flooring, and lighting, you can also count on finding interesting deals, arts and crafts items, holiday and party supplies, home decorating items, fabrics, and more. Asset Recycling is open to the public with a focus on serving those most in need of assistance with safe and affordable housing.  Inventory changes often, so frequent visits are encouraged. Buyer beware! Yes, you may find some good stuff here, but the prices are high, especially considering all the merchandise has been donated. **Carefully consider** what you buy here, because it was donated for a REASON--may be of questionable integrity!! There is NO return or exchange policy, even if it's defective. So if the tape doesn't stick like it should, or the paint is bad halfway down the can, or the tile cracks when you install it...was it worth the small discount? Not in my book. read more

Very reasonable prices and a great place to dig and find great stuff! New items donated from large box stores really helps their selection!

I came to this place because we were working on upgrading some areas of the house (still in the process too), and this place is like hitting a gold mine! It is very disorganized and you really have to maneuver around all the piles of stuff they have, but it just means they have a lot to offer. I'm just warning you not to expect a highly organized place like Home Depot. This is a recycling center, and they just throw stuff where there's room. They have almost everything! Laminate flooring, patio furniture, kitchen backsplash, blinds, windows, kitchen cabinets, the list could go on! Since it is all donated, you can sometimes get a huge deal! The owner doesn't really like to barter much, and he's not that nice either, but his daughter was really nice. She gave us a better deal when we went back. I recommend making sure you can carry what you need or bring someone who can, because the employees don't help all that much. I think I remember seeing a sign there that said you have to load/carry what you buy. They do have flat carts so you can put bigger items on there and wheel them to your car. read more

Yes, the "employees" are kinda weird & often rude; I don't care!!!! There is so much salvage stuff here, it truly is a renovators dream. You DO find bargains. I always have. Been going since they opened & have had some strange encounters with the workers, but I was in heaven, so I just laughed it off. What do you expect, it's a salvage store!! There are some truly unique, but also lots of useful items. I call it the Goodwill of salvage stores, and the quirky service style is part of the package....I bought 4 brand new, large rectangular triple paned windows for $150, paint (check to see if it's still good), tile, marble, doors, cabinets, hardware, etc. I tell EVERYONE I know about this place. I've never been disappointed. It's my version of Disneyland, actually. read more

This place is literally a joke, for some reason every bad review just gets erased, however, on the rare occasion they have anything worth a shit, they charge more than the stores do for it. Do yourself a favor and don't waste your time unless you need some off brand paint that may or not be ruined. read more

Holy smokes! I just heard about this place a few weeks ago.... I thought it would be great, but it was AMAZING!!! Get ready for a little drinking here: every time I say 'stuff' this place gets a prop from me! There is so much stuff and stuff behind stuff and other stuff- and I don't mean 'crap' kinda stuff, I mean like gooooood stuff! Big stuff, random stuff, crazy stuff and soooooo reasonably priced, if you're redoing any part of your house and are pretty open to items, THIS IS THE PLACE!!! Tyler and Brian helped to load our stuff into the car to boot - this was only after the owner spent some time with us and came out and walked us around!!! I'm hooked.... on STUFF. read more

I've read some information about Asset Recycling and understand the mission. It's a good idea and gathering from the sheer amount of STUFF in their warehouse, there's a market in Indianapolis for recycling (re-use) of the types of materials in which they specialize. It is a not-for-profit charity with an environmental and educational focus. I suggests you check it out. The prices seem high, however. Because I have to be a bargain shopper, and enjoy it too, I can beat the prices on a lot of Asset Recycling's offerings. Additionally (nothing personal, just a question of taste and professional business behavior) my companion and I were rather embarrassed and off-put by several examples of sexual innuendo and crass references at checkout. I love asset recycling. Love it. Got an excellent deal (50% off retail) on a brand new vanity, that is still in stick at Home Depot. This place is a hodgepodge of everything building (and some household stuff). Be prepared to dig. And don't come in nice clothes. I feel like I need a shower when I leave. They have old paint, old windows (and new windows!), the afore mentioned vanity (of which there were several), doors, moulding, small selection of tile, plumbing stuff (mostly small things), pieces of broken marble, and I could go on and on and not even touch the tip of the iceberg. I asked where they get their things, and they said it is all donated. You can check their website for details on what they do with the money they make, etc. I noticed lots of NEW, especially Martha Stewart, stuff that is sold at Home Depot. Just a heads up. All employees are rude, owner included! Last time, I was in the young blonde cashier was cussing using the GD word, complaining about other employees, she acted like cashing me out was a real chore. After bad attitude & filthy mouth I decided to write this. I have no idea how this unorganized place is allowed to remain open with all the board of health violations. There are a few good deals but you really have to dig & God forbid if you need an employees help! read more

This place is a scavengers dream!!! If you can think it up & build it, you can probably find what you need at a good price. It's self serve so wear old clothes & dig around. Found some very cool sinks, faucets and cabinet nobs...saved hundreds$$$. read more

They are getting greedy. This placed used to be cheap, but they have upped their prices recently. They get merchandise donated to them and "employees" are doing community service for them to knock time off their plea deal, so there is no excuse for the higher prices. They wanted $15 for a cracked planter that I could get for $14 at Walmart. Sandpaper is $3- just like Menards. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy stuff at a retail store with paid employees. read more

i was turned on to Asset Recycling by a friend. it is basically a huge warehouse full of building supplies and materials. some are brand new and some used. here's what i can remember seeing: paint, doors, windows, cabinets, fabric, wood, sinks, carpet, and flooring. you get the idea. it's well organized. i picked up 4 gallons of quality black paint for $20. if you are a homeowner, artist, or project minded person this is the place for you. the people running the place were very friendly. read more

Pricey! $250 for a used cabinet and you must like mix and match cabinets in your house. Unorganized. Can't walk through. If you need something used for your older house, this might be the place for you. Otherwise - Yuck! read more
