Jacqueline was our guide. She was very knowledgeable about the house, the family, the renovation process, etc. Sometimes it's my impression that guides aren't that knowledgeable; Jacqueline wasn't this way. I thought of the Molly Brown House tour we took in Denver. Very interesting! The carriage house and garden are available for wedding receptions, etc.

From the second we walked in the lady was very rude, assuming we had been there before, annoyed with any question that was asked, and quite honestly the attitude on her face said it all. Some of the more popular flavors are available for retail purchase in central and northern Wisconsin at stores like Trig's and several local liquor stores. During our visit we were offered a free wine tasting with an explantation of how the wine was made and some great pairing suggestions. This is a great place to visit & stock up on some unique gift ideas for all occasions. Plan to spend some extra time for tasting!

I had been to this grand house a couple of years ago. At that time they had a great exhibit on the effect of the Civil War on the area. I met an older gentleman named George. We talked smart for over two hours. He was great at answering questions about the county. On this visit I hoped to talk with him again; but, alas, he was not there on this visit. So I checked out their new exhibit on rural electrification of Marathon County. I found it quite informative and interesting. You can "interact" with people who used to live in the county by telephone; and listen to their stories. This is a nice place to spend a couple of hours. You can learn a lot about the area. There were a couple of floods that decimated the town. The one in 1913 was particularly devastating. As I am prone to staying at the Everest Inn, I'll probably visit this museum again the next time I'm in Wausau. Hope to catch George next time, I could use another history lesson of Marathon County. If you are a history buff (who isn't?) it would behoove you to check this fine little museum out. There is no entry fee; but leave a donation of a couple of bucks. It's the right thing to do.

Our boat was captained by Brian and his deck hand/entertainment of the night was Ben; both very professional and got us out and back in safely. Ben was fantastic on the acoustic guitar, excellent voice and sense of humor. It was a small group when we went but he still worked the crowd. The boat was clean and I appreciated that they had binoculars available in each bench seat so you could take advantage of seeing the sights. Ben also does some of the scenic tours so he threw in a few nuggets of info about the area in between songs but overall the focus was on the music and enjoying the views. Sunset was perfect! Would highly recommend.

It was a 1.5 hour interesting and enlightening guided tour highlighting elegant, historic, and hidden Cottage Row in the town of Gibraltar, the Strawberry Islands, and the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse. The all-in cost for us 2 seniors was $91.79. We boarded their boat named Quo Vadis and it has a capacity of 58 we were told. Betsy was our engaging and informative tour guide and she was a great local narrator and guide having been raised on nearby Chambers Island. From a nature and wildlife standpoint, we saw double-crested cormorants, white pelicans, a bald eagle, and a big eagle's nest along the way. Betsy added a lot of local color and flavor and trivia to the talk and it was just what I enjoyed hearing to gain more insight into this charming area. Big thumbs up and we would take another of their tours if we were up here at the right time and conditions again.

Lovely trip! We took our 12 year old grandson on the Sunset Cruise and it was so much fun. The…read morelive music was perfect and the performer was funny and knew just what to play based on the crowd. We chatted with other passengers and drank our beer as the sun slowly dipped beyond the horizon. It was an experience we will remember for a long time! I will mention that we were never told where the lifejackets were although we were told how to put one on. My grandson made that observation! :)
