I've never had noodles that were so greasy, they they turned the styrofoam container orange. They also tasted strongly of chips. The staff are generally attentive, although only if the restaurant is fairly quiet. Having eaten here on two busy occassions we were left waiting for almost 10 minutes to simply make a drink order. This should be offered immediately on seating in my view, having worked in restaurants. The staff also seemed intent to get food out extremely quickly in between courses. Some on our table hadn't even finished their starters when the mains were literally thrust at us at lightning speed by a clearly overworked group of waiters. There should always be at least a 5 minute gap between courses. The food quality is also affected according to how busy the place is. On my last visit I was distinctly unimpressed; the duck seemed overcooked and rubbery, whilst my prawn main course was flavourless and bland. I could've cooked better myself. Others on my table commented similar. Having been previously on a Sunday, which was calm, the food was much superior to this. If you do go, avoid a Friday or Saturday. Clearly the kitchen don't like a full house.

The name suggests this restaurant doesn't take itself too seriously but the food produced here is something quite marvellous. Both the Lady-friend and I were left well-chuffed with our meals. The restaurant wasn't busy at the time (about 6:00pm), whether they haven't caught on yet in the local area or if Thai1 becomes busier a little later in the evening I can't say. Perhaps the lack of customers was the reason for the speedy service too. Whatever the reason, it was efficient and courteous. My something and rice and the Lady-friends noodle thingy were both tip-top. In my experience Thai food is either really good or really bad but credit where it's due, this was some damn fine Thai. I was hankering for something a little higher up the Scoville scale than usual and the meal I had - and I remember this part particularly well - nearly blew my face off. Food was top notch with all the old classics of Green Thai Curry, coconut rice, and Pad Thai turned out very well. The ingredients seemed fresh and well sourced. The spice level was just right i.e. not to hot to burn your lips but strong enough to get you glowing. The waitresses were charming and very pleasing on the eye. All in all a good night had by all. I strongly recommend it.
