As we left the train and headed towards the station, I spotted the Aseman Wursti. It didn't look ideal but as I said, hunger had set in and we didn't want to risk not eating that evening. Let me tell you; it was really good! We started with our coffees, which were pretty decent; then ordered the all-day breakfast. It was kinda like an English breakfast but not exactly. The difference was some relish on the plate. There was the traditional sausage, bacon and egg as well. I'll just have to dig out a photo and post it. Yes, I take all day breakfast photos. The place looked quite popular and all the food looked like nothing complicated but tasty. They also had beer!

This was a perfectly fine McDonalds fitting pretty much the normal standard. We just ordered a…read morecouple of cheeseburgers and some mozzarella sticks. Cheeseburgers came up quickly, and the kitchen thankfully still used the hold hot plate style holding area rather than putting together everything to order - so the cheeseburgers were actually good because the cheese had been warmed and wasn't cold when bitten into. One of the staff members brought over the sticks when they were ready, we just used on the standing tables on the upper level rather than going down to the seats. I just wish we still had these types of McDonalds back in the UK; I originally thought that the touch screens etc were good and they would be, except they result in nothing ever sitting as the recipes require on the hot plate holding areas. So I do miss my proper cheeseburgers, so it was nice to get that back again here.

The menu is unsurprising, the same burgers at the same price as in any McDo. What set this place apart is the Rock'n'roll-themed interior (and now lost exterior). The idea was brilliant, as the building is protected by the musem authorities, and a combined gas station/diner in a 50's Rock-theme quite nice idea, especially when it involved some local rock stars in the process. As a concept not very original, but a nice idea to implement a strictly controlled franchise with an individual theme is quite nice and was implemented very well at the time. Now, regretfully, the rock-theme seems to be gradually fading, and this place is slowly turning into yet-another McDo.

Stopping into this little Tex-Mex Chili joint just blocks from the central train station made me feel at home. Their menu isn't extensive, but what chili shop's isn't? I went for the "Classic." What I got wasn't quite what a Texan would call "Chili." It had beans in it, which is a Cardinal Sin in the Lone Star State. Big no-no. But I guess they are Finnish, so I can't fault them too much. The meat was the smallest bit I've ever gotten in a chili bowl- but it was layered thick and deep with fresh tomatoes, cheddar cheese, onions, lime, and tortilla chips. The presentation was wonderful- it was colorful and looked delicious! The interior was small- they can only accommodate 5 diners, tops. But the cozy space inside is a great way to get out of the snow, and get some down-home Tex-Mex cooking! They play Spanish music over the speakers, but the staff doesn't speak it. The place is attractive, with cute water bottles, and fun place settings. It's a really nice looking spot, and they do make a welcome bit of my state's cooking. Bless their hearts!

My family was very tired after 2 weeks of traveling in Europe, and we are staying at the very nice apartment hotel Aallonkoti, about 2 minutes away from the restaurant. My mother missed Asian cooking very much, so I decided to give this Chinese restaurant a try when I walked by. The restaurant seems to serve buffet as a dining-in option, but I went for the a la carte option anyways, because that's how Chinese people like to order :p I ordered stir fried green leafy veggies (not the mixed ones), a tofu dish, veggie fried noodles, chicken & corn soup, and lemon chicken with the waitress' recommendation. They came out all very delicious!! The seasoning was just right, not too salty. The veggies were fresh and had a good balance of crisp and moist. And the lemon chicken was super delish!!! The veggie portion in the noodle dish was very generous! Rice was good. Overall, we were all very happy! Despite that we still tried to eat some local Finnish food everyday, we actually ate one meal everyday from here during our stay in Helsinki! Haha XD The waitresses were very friendly. They even offered me hot tea while I waited for my take out order. If you happen to stay around the area and crave for some authentic Chinese dishes, try this place and go for the a la carte :)
