Short side is - Go somewhere else. Despite having some great nurses, front staff is unprofessional and a hot mess and is not able to handle sensitive situations.

I asked if the doctor could submit the preauthorization that day (since I am running out of medication) and he said, "well the doctor is very busy". The preauthorization STILL HAS NOT BEEN COMPLETED. Good thing it's birth control and not any life-saving medicine. Do yourself a favor and find a different doctor.

I chose this practice being that is was mostly women doctors (at the time I believe there was one lone male doctor, but if I remember correctly at my last visit, they were all female) and they were affiliated with the hospital I would like to deliver my children at (also the hospital in which I was born at many moons ago as well - Ha!). I have been thru 2 pregnancies with this practice and they took good care of me, and my babies. Both pregnancies I developed high blood pressure towards the end of my pregnancies and needed to be monitored. They were very good with this. Because of the blood pressure, I was put on bed rest and then once I was closer to my due date, I was induced. Dr. Novas delivered my son, 11 days before his due date. Dr. Chamberlain delivered my daughter, 8 days before her due date. I think I've seen every doctor in the practice and I don't recall there ever being a time I was disappointed with anything. My kids are now 11 & 8 years old, and while I am done having babies, this practice is still kind and gentle and I am comfortable here. Even now that I've moved further away, and no longer work nearby like I used to .... I still use this practice and don't plan on changing.

Excited for my first appointment when I found out I was pregnant, the first thing my doctor said to me when she walked in (not even "hello") was a disappointed look and, "I thought you were going to lose more weight first?" I was under 200 pounds to start and gained 20 pounds (including the baby!) the entire pregnancy. The nurses "tsked" every time I got on the scale. I left every single appointment in tears. I left at 30 weeks to go to a different practice after another doctor there told me I'd "die on the table" if I needed a c-section because they "couldn't anesthetize someone of my size." To be honest I'm grateful they made me meet all the doctors at the practice, because they were all monstrous and I knew I had to go somewhere else for my own safety and that of my child. I did end up needing a c-section, and it went just fine. I had a healthy baby, an easy recovery, and luckily ended my pregnancy at a supportive practice that treated me with respect and dignity. You have to call again the next day. It was end of April before I finally got someone on the phone to give me an update that they wanted me to come in for more tests. Thankfully, it wasn't anything life or death because I wouldn't have heard about it for 2 months... The other problem I had is that the ultrasound technician took my weight yesterday before I went into the room for my blood pressure and everything. Great, fine, whatever. But I get into the room and am met by a nurse who needs to weigh me. I said, "I just did that, do I need to do it again?" and she asked, "Oh.. do you remember what it was?" On top of that, 3 people asked if I skip periods: the ultrasound technician, the nurse and the doctor. I answered the same way each time. Seriously, they all carry laptops and are typing while you answer questions and between the two instances, I was left wondering "does NO ONE write anything down????" Just seems very disorganized and I feel like there should be a better system when it comes to passing along information, both from nurse to nurse/doctor and from nurse/doctor to patient. Work on it please because I love Dr. Scanlon (she's literally the only thing keeping me going to MCWH) and I really don't want to go elsewhere because I'm frustrated with the rest of the staff.

Every single time I came in they had the wrong contact information, I would correct it, and it would revert back to an address I hadn't lived at for years, turns out that's where my confidential test results and bills were sent too. He always made me feel comfortable, spent time answering all my questions, and his bedside manner was great...he's super smart and thorough. You can tell he truly cares about his patients. He really is one of those doctors that gives you the "warm fuzzies," which is needed during pregnancy, labor, and delivery. Also, at my six week check-up the office gave me a Swarovski crystal necklace of my sons birthstone...what other Doctor goes the extra mile and gives his patients a push present?
