I guess being located next to a river really does add some charm to the place, and the gardens themselves are actually quite lovely in a way. Yeah, this place certainly does provide a nice and relaxing feel to it, and it is certainly a pleasaure to wander around as well. Oh, and like a lot of botanic gardens, you don't have to pay to enter either, which is certainly a huge bonus when you don't actually want to spend any money.

This is another pretty big park, though one of the main reasons is because there is this huge lake…read morelocated in the middle. It isn't strictly noticeable from the main road through Ballarat, however it is certainly worth checking out. As well as the lake, you can find the botanical gardens, and a vintage tram that runs a short distance around the lake. Also, there happens to be a farmers market that pops up here Saturday mornings. Yeah, this place is pretty cool, and great for a relaxing weekend.

The park has a pretty large pond, and lots of guess, though they weren't all that aggressive, which is a pretty good thing because I heard that they can be at times. It is a rather lovely park, with an old-style entrance which certainly does give it some character. Yeah, it would certainly be a nice place for a picnic.

This seems to be more like a sporting type of park than anything else. Okay, it doesn't have any…read morepre-defined ovals, but it does have some pretty large grassed area, in fact large enough that there were some people windsailing here when we happened to pass through. Still, it is a large open area, which certainly does make it quite useful, especially if you have dogs that like running around. The park is also ringed by trees, which also makes it rather pleasant as well. Sure, it probably isn't a place worth visiting if you don't live here, but I can see how it can work well for those who do.

The thing about this park is that it reminded me of those parks that I used to go down to as a kid…read moreand try and catch things in the creek. The reason I suggest that is because I noticed some kids down there doing just that, or at least with their bikes. It does have a charm about it, and does feel somewhat more authentic than other parks that I have been to. It even has places to sit.

While there was many different animals here I mainly came for the koalas and kangaroos. You can walk up to all the kangaroos directly and feed them. Food cost $4 AUD. You get a good amount of food as you are really only giving them a little bit in your palm. The koala experience is $50 AUD for a group up to 4. You get to spend time with the koalas in the koala area. So much fun! Definitely a bucket list item to cross off! I highly recommend coming here.

In fact…read moreas a lake it is actually pretty huge, and it does take a decent time to actually walk around it (something that I didn't get to do, namely due to how late it was getting). The stroll, though, was quite pleasant, even if it was rather cold. The other thing is that there does happen to be a number of water sports being performed on this lake, if the boat houses and the yacht club is anything to go by. Oh, and there are some rather nice parks around it as well.
