Unlike a lot of people who have this treatment, I was there to investigate for curiousity's sake and not because I have/have had a chronic illness. The whole thing must have taken no more than an hour and that includes waiting a bit before and after. The session cost £60.00 and they gave me a voucher for a free hydro massage (review to follow). Before the day, the session had been booked weeks before over the phone and I was nervously looking forward to the unknown and reading other people's reviews on C.Is. It wasn't until I walked into the clinic when my legs started feeling trembly and nerves set in. Sometimes it's good to feel like this. The clinic itself is on the top floor of a converted office building with a modern, clean, calm and fresh feel to it. You are greeted by a receptionist and asked to fill in a form with basic details and reasons for being there. This is to make sure you don't get treatment carried out if you state you have specific medical conditions or you're pregnant etc. A professional member of A.R.C.H (Association and register of Colon Hydro Therapists) came out to the waiting area and took me through to the private treatment room. Everything was immaculate, sterile, clean and the therapist made sure I felt comfortable. Well, atleast tried her best to. A coffee enema was given first which took about 15 minutes. Then came the colonic irregation which was very bizarre. A strange sensation that can only be described asstrange. I was talking to the therapist throughout the process and she was telling me average facts and figures. The facts and figures of my session were by no means average but if you want the gory details, message me. People asked me whether I would go back and do it all again but I'm still trying to work that one out. If I was told by a Dr/hospital that I should then I'd have no problem however, I wouldn't go back for the fun of it. If you want to do a bit of internal spring cleaning then it's worth a session. I felt fresh and revived after my treatment and recommend it to people who want to try something new.

I could cry! I wish I hadn't waited so long. It's been worth every penny. I even worked for 4 hours at the allotment and didn't have a twinge! Lovely friendly staff, holistic approach, referral based approach to advertising. Just amazing. :-)

Thought I'd write this review on the back of having attended this hospital for daycase surgery…read moreyesterday in addition to several outpatient appointments prior to this. Unlike the RVI the Freeman is situated just outside of the city centre in High Heaton/South Gosforth but remains easily accessible by car, bus or metro. It has a lot of speciality services including the regional Transplant Centre and the new build Northern Centre for Cancer Care. I'm a massive advocate of the NHS and am well aware of the pressures but every time I attended an outpatient appointment I was kept waiting for between 1 and 3 hours which is where they lost a star. Waiting areas were cramped and didn't offer any drinking facilities other than water of course and I wasn't permitted to leave to get a coffee neither (which for a caffeine addict was difficult to take!) That said.....the staff are all incredible! Obviously rushed off their feet and yet always willing to go the extra mile to ensure every individual is cared for, particularly on the ward. I was given privacy and treated with respect. Every step along the way meeting the doctors, anaethetists, physio's and nursing staff they would have a laugh with you to make you feel at ease and they promptly organised home prescriptions and follow up appointments. I was in significant pain post surgery and the nurses were wonderful...promptly giving me a cocktail of meds which settled it nicely and they offered me regular coffees/toast. Overall I'd say persevere with the waiting times and try not to let it cloud your overall judgement as once through the doors the care is exceptional and all credit to everyone in the NHS who works hard to make patients like me feel lucky to have such a great healthcare system in place!

Able to offer appointments on the day for emergencies or in the evenings outside of work. The doctors never rush you neither if you want to flag up more than one issue! Your repeat prescriptions can be delivered to your local boots store or pharmacy if this is more convenient. I wax actually gutted to leave when I moved again outside of the catchment area. Highly recommend for anyone in the jesmond area!

There is a huge ball pit with floating cushions, a sensory cave with thousands of lights and projections, floatation tanks, swimming pool/jacuzzi and all prices are reasonable. Firstly, I wish to point out the comment made in the previous review about giving the centre 5…read morestars if it wasn't for the fact you can only go if you have a disabled person with you - clearly that is the point; both the respite and the activity centre were set up with the aim of supporting disabled people and their families. I am aware this must be a common issue, since I heard one person complain they couldn't get in to summer event; apparently they were hoping to meet 'the main man'. Once you start letting randoms into the centre, particularly the ignorant and those who will gaup at the disabled guests, you are creating an unsafe environment, lest the verbal abuse that both disabled people and their carers face. Disabled people and their families go to places like this because people are use to seeing and spending time with disabled people, so I hope they never have open days - they won't come to help the disabled. This also links into what I have to say - the best respite care does not allow all and sundry into through the doors. Security is an issue here - yes, you have to ring a bell for staff to let you in (sometimes a kind soul, other than staff will let you in, which they unintentionally don't realise is a security risk) and they also have security cameras, but there is still a worry of the intentions and experience of volunteers. The majority I have seen are competent and respectful, but one recently, sat at the front desk made me, a relative of a disabled user of the centre, very uncomfortable. She was gossiping and carrying on, I felt, and I noticed how she looked at a severely disabled person. She was also staring at me in a horrible fashion. I worry about randoms coming into the centre to pad out their cvs, without any real understanding, and with that, there is always a risk of an unqualified person claiming to be an expert on such matters which is potentially very dangerous. She was also making comments as I left the building. I was quiet because we had experienced an upsetting situation, and no, I do not have any disabilities, physical or learning-wise, I have you know - you should try asking. This is called communication which is lacking in some cases between staff. I also find it extraordinary that the carers and families of the able-bodied, but those who have learning disabilities are so ignorant when it comes to physically disabled people. I personally would have recommended different respite centres for able and physically disabled people. An open door policy is worrying for families leaving their vulnerable relatives who can't fight people off. Too many cooks spoil the broth - sometimes too many carers is not a good thing. One of the best respite care homes operated with far fewer staff and operated a lot more successfully. Again, this clearly causes communication problems. They don't appear to know who has been on shift earlier in the day which I find odd seeing they have staff-turnovers. The activity centre is attractive - the sensory rooms are a little small to manoeuvre large wheel chairs. The pool is aesthetically pleasing but a design flaw is apparent for my relative's needs. The ceiling hoist and steps cause a barrier getting into the pool. A pool where the stairs are located in the corner, avoiding making the water shallow in the middle would be better. Here the handler can get in, control the hoist control, position the guest in their arms, remove the sling without having to move to the far corner which means two people are required. It is also safer. It is a shame some visitors have to be rude. Two women with small babies - I am unsure of their disabilities - using the sensory room, I think, were pathetically impolite. I think people like this would be wise to stay at home. 30+ experience living and working with a person with special needs.

This is a modern GPs surgery in Howden.Wallsend. I have used…read morethis surgery since moving from another area a few years back.It's like a breath of fresh air compared to some doctors surgeries. I cannot complain about the service I receive from here,it has always been the best on offer. There are no nightmare receptionists,customer care seems top priority and everyone is treated with respect and warmth. The building is light and airy and very welcoming and has an open reception desk.There are lots of self help and information leaflets available and a notice board area.Plenty of comfortable seating,a childrens play area and toilets. They offer a physio service at the surgery should you be unlucky enough to need it along with the usual health and support clinics.There are plenty of staff to help with queries ect and the whole surgery seems so well organised and the staff efficient and well trained. Always five star service here.

My husband and I have both used this surgery for many years and have never had reason to complain. It is important (when you are 70+ and 80+) to know you will see friendly faces when you have reason visit the doctor.
