The grilled cheese here is one of the best I have had outside of the US. I wasn't expecting it, so it came as wonderful surprise! I ordered a cheese sandwich that I had seen on the display, prepackaged, and when they asked me if I wanted it heated, I said yes. The result was this marvelous grilled sandwich which was simply divine! You have to pay a Euro in coin to use the bathrooms at this establishment! Just an FYI, NOT a complaint! Ik zal geen boeken meer kopen in de Standaard Boekhandel…read more Als cadeau voor mijn kleinzoon voor Sinterklaas kocht ik een boek uitgegeven door Hachette, voor 24,50 euro. Toen ik thuiskwam, zag ik dat er verschillende pagina's uit het boek waren gescheurd. Dus bracht ik het boek terug naar de winkel om het te ruilen. Enkele weken later kreeg ik bericht dat er een nieuw boek was aangekomen. Ik ging naar de winkel en ontdekte dat ook dit nieuwe exemplaar opnieuw op verschillende pagina's gescheurd was. Ik wees de medewerker hierop en die antwoordde dat ik zelf contact moest opnemen met Hachette! Ik weigerde het boek en vroeg om een nieuw boek dat naar mijn huis werd gestuurd (ik woon niet in de buurt van de winkel). Ik heb contact opgenomen met de klantenservice van Standaard Boekhandel. Ze weigerden het boek naar mijn huis te sturen omdat de bestelling niet meer dan 25 euro bedroeg! Wat is het voordeel van het kopen van een boek in een Standaard boekhandel? Ik zal mijn volgende aankoop op het internet doen, maar niet op de website van Standaard Boekhandel...

Het is een algemene regel dat wanneer je de betere winkeltjes in een stad wil traceren, je zo'n…read morebeetje om het centrum heen moet cirkelen. In Maastricht vind je dan de beste boekenwinkel van Nederland, de Tribune. Dat bleek althans uit een kwaliteitsonderzoek van Vrij Nederland. Wie hier binnenloopt kan zich daar wat bij voorstellen. Tot de nok toe volgepropt met boeken zoals zich dat hoort, met medewerkers die blindelings naar de juiste plank lopen en zonder verder te zoeken het juiste boek voor je uit de rek pakken. Het winkeltje lijkt vooral goed voorzien van filosofie, kunstboeken en literatuur. Maar ook als je iets meer specialistisch zoekt zoals toneelboeken maak je hier de beste kans. Zo'n typisch winkeltje waar je altijd net iets langer blijft snuffelen dan de bedoeling was.
