The last time I played this course was in 2004 and even then it was sketchy…read more Back then it was called the 'City' course and managed by the city of Gastonia. Since then an independent management group has taken over. I met some friends for a 'tune-up' round in preparation for a charity tournament we're playing in. I called a week ahead to make the tee time and asked about their practice facilities. I was told they have a driving range, practice putting and chipping area. I drove from Fort Mill and got there an hourly early only to learn the range was shut down for 'over seeding'. There is no practice chipping area only a putting green. As I was entering the Pro Shop, I saw a sign that said 'Snack Bar'. Once I checked-in and got my cart key, I asked what time did the Snack Bar open. the lady said "oh, we don't have a snack bar". My response was " you got a snack bar sign, but no snack bar". She just stared at me. This course is ragged. I don't like the lay out, too many blind shots and poor sight lines. The greens and tee boxes were OK but the fairways were in bad shape and if you are out of bounds, you will lose your ball or be heavily penalized. There are creeks that criss cross the course with power lines above as well. There are some ponds but none that create difficulties for your shot. I was going to play 18 but after 9 holes, our group decided to stop play. The lady in our group was disappointed there were NO Red or forward tees, the gold or Senior tees are the most forward tees, sorry ladies, the City of Gastonia will receive your comments. The electric carts were in good condition and the ProShop was small with not very much gear for sale. They do sell beer and they have soda and snack food vending machines. I doubt I will return, just way too many other good options near where I live.

Crowders mountain is a course in which you get what you get. There are pretty much wide open…read morefairways and the course has a great layout. The greens are relatively on the slower side but they are challenging. This course transitions to my game very well. It can be busy from time to time so plan accordingly unless you go off first or later in afternoon. Lots of potential to score low but you must play strategically. Overall great experience. Oak mills amusement park is the old challenger 3 fun park in shelby. I had a birthday party there…read moretoday for my son. One of the workers (Noah) is very disrespectful. I was told, when i booked the party to pay the deposit and then the full balance due after the party. Noah came in the party room during the party to yell for us to pay the balance left. Nevermind the fact my child was opening gifts and i had a room full of guest. But then thru the whole day he yells 4 more times. As if he was trying to say i was a thief. Like i was going to leave and not pay. The first time i went to go pay the lady at the counter, she didnt know how to cash me out. So how am i to pay a bill if your workers dont know their job? So she calls him up there and i told him how he made me feel throughout my childs party and his explanation was that last week someone walked out without paying...well thats not my issue. And i dont like the way he made me and my guest feel and for that i will NOT visit nor have another party there...and this was the 2nd party my son has had here..If i could gove you no stars thats what youd get!!!

It's been 10 years since I wrote the first review for this golf course…read more And it's been 10 years since I last played it and today was special because we were able to host the Strokes Fore Hop fundraiser for William 'Bam' Montgomery who is in need of a kidney. There were 72 golfers who joined on a beautiful sunny, 72 degree Friday on 11/12/21. Over $12K was raised to help with the medical bills and expenses for Bam. The course has matured and improved over the years. It is a challenging course with a fair amount of water and some greens protected by bunkers. There are some really nice Par 3's, hole number 6 which is right at about 115 yards from the Senior tees. I nearly won the 'closest to the pin' with a shot that put it right at about 10 feet to the pin. A pair of Panthers VS WFT tickets were the prize but, I was just edged out by a shot from Mr Shelly at 85 years old put it within 7 feet. The course is well maintained in great condition, the tee boxes are in great shape as are the greens. The fairways are wide open and most of greens are large and well maintained. They have a great bar & restaurant as well as a very nice out door patio. I highly recommend this course.

They consistently ran out of food and had a line out the door. It was very crowded. We sat outside on the patio in 100 degree weather without a fan. The table for our group of 8 was cramped and sagging in the middle (so much so that we spilled our food and tea). The waitress never once cleared the dirty plates from our table and we had to ask repeatedly for refills. My 7 year old was charged an adult price ($17) and she didn't eat much because everything ran out. However, due to the size of our party, gratuity was included. Overall, not a pleasant experience and we will not be returning.

Not the best conditions today, they had punched the greens & sanded. Still very bumpy & not rolling true. The Pro Shop guy said they were waiving the green fee & just charging $20.00 for cart.
