I was able to rectify this late last year when my boss and I were planning a department work event. My coworkers live/work across the country, and the man office is in Van Wert. Every year we do a week of meetings here, and have events afterwards. My boss had the idea to try out Olympic Lanes and have a bowling event, he asked me to go talk to management, get some quotes and check the place out. I liked what I saw. The staff was friendly, the bowling alley was in great shape and it had a very nice and well stocked bar area. I spoke with the owner and she made it so easy to set up this event and for a great price. We got two games on two lanes, drinks, pizza, wings. The night of the event, we all started with having some drinks at the bar, while waiting for everyone to get in. We then had a fun night of bowling, talking, drinking, laughing and catching up with each other in person. I have to thank the staff of Olympic Lanes for making this happen. I have since returned to have some drinks here because the bar is well stocked, service is great, prices are reasonable, food is good. I love this place! If you are in the area and: 1) Want to have a drink at a friendly neighborhood bar 2) Want good pizza, wings and other bar food 3) Want to have some fun bowling with friends or family 4) Have an entertaining corporate/company event with no stress Then you should definitely come to Olympic Lanes!

For example, I stood in line for twenty minutes to get drinks from the bar because they only had one bartender working. There's only four of ten bumper cars working, or nine of twenty go-karts working. The lines build because there's only so many seats for these, or staff to assist. Not a drinker so I can't say much about the bar but if you are, I think you could definitely get your fix here. The food was quite decent. Lots of fried fare but it came out hot and crispy. The floors at this particular alley are unwaxed which deviates from the norm. My husband, who has his own ball, usually spins his ball but could not get the move to work without wax and had to change up his play style. Not sure if this is a conscious choice or if the lanes just needed a proper waxing but it definitely changes the experience. We all bowled pretty badly, though I can't totally blame them for that. It's been a while. Lol But the lack of wax definitely contributed. While we were alone most of the night, another group eventually showed up not to bowl but to eat. This place seems as much a restaurant as it is an alley so you can plan on either experience here. Or both! The alley is a little dark, a bit cluttered with bowling balls stacked absolutely everywhere, and the service was kind but detached, but it's not a bad place at all. Upon entering, there is small bar on the right where you can order drinks, food, and play Keno. The bar is small but the drinks and food are reasonably priced and the food tastes good. Service was good and the bartender/server was friendly. The patrons, likewise, were friendly. There are lottery machines conveniently located just outside the bar where you can purchase lottery tickets and Keno tickets. We were told it was easier to get out Keno tickets from the machines rather than the server trying to enter them for us. The bowling alley itself is well lit and nice. It has regulation lanes and a few bowling balls, but the bowling ball selection is limited. My girlfriend and I were able to play one hour, which included shoes, for $32. The price seemed reasonable. The scoreboard machine has a variety of themed options. For example, there was an Angry Birds option where you could play five frames. There are also just straight up options with scoring only and 10 frames of play. It had been awhile since either my girlfriend or myself had bowled. However, we both had a blast and our hour of time went by quickly. This bowling alley is older looking but it is nice, clean and all of the employees were very friendly.
