Wow, I had been to this park many times back in the day, but I had NO idea they had hiking trails,…read morecaves to explore, and even a disc golf course. The caves - not really caves, they're more like crevices to explore. They aren't more than 15 feet deep and the sun lights them up fairly well, so don't be 'escared (yes, I said 'escared). Getting to them can be tough if there is water in the normally dry creek bed. You'll have to traverse a VERY steep uphill trail to get to them. The cool thing about the trails here, is that you get a little bit of everything. Some paved trails, some smooth dirt trails with lots of berms and hills that are great fun for mountain bikers (but won't tear your expensive rig up). Look for these hills near hole 9 on the disc golf course (it's hidden in the woods). Take Side Trail A (creative name, right?) to get a good view of the creek when there's water in it, and take the Blue Angel Loop if you want to walk or ride on loose river rock. I've never seen trails measured in feet. If you hit all of the trails, you can get 6 to 7 miles in. You can park at Red Horse Park, Veterans Park, or at UC Municipal Park - they're all connected to the trails. I'm amazed at the diversity of the trail system in this park. And oh yeah, they have a covered basketball pavilion, baseball diamonds, LOTS of space to run around in and even fly kites. No power lines around, so your kite won't get hung up on a line.

If I had gone on a day when the temperature was in the double digits in Fahrenheit, I might have…read moregiven this park at least 4 stars, but when I visited on Father's Day, there wasn't really much to do. Scorching hot temperatures scared everyone away because none of the kids would want to play on the playground there, though I did see one family just sitting there, possibly resting during a long road trip. Otherwise, it was literally a ghost town minus the tumbleweeds. I stopped by this park to just get away from city life. Well actually, I wanted to visit the nearby Nekter Juice Bar because they a Father's Day promo going on that would only work for that day and that day only. I had already visited the other Nekter location in the Greater San Antonio area, but wanted to pay a visit to this location aloof from the urban life. Bullis County Park and Nekter are just across from one another, opposite Borgfield Dr. After leaving Nekter with smoothie in hand, I drove up Old Blanco and parked in the parking lot right in front of the playground. As I mentioned, nobody was playing in the playground. I did see a pavilion, which allowed me to rest in the shade and take more photos of the park while sipping on my smoothie. The park wasn't the greatest, I can say. Let's just say the grass is greener on the other side lol. I was, however, fascinated by some rock and log formation near the pavilion. There are a handful of picnic tables in the pavilion that you could throw a party at. However, you'll need to reserve the space beforehand; call in advance to do so! On the south side of the park, there is a softball field, which surprise surprise, nobody was there during my visit. However, I was fascinated by the number of dandelions I saw in the outfield. Nice to see, but I'm sure outfielders will be trampling over them while trying to catch a fly ball. To the west, there is nothing but trees. The grounds immediately around the pavilion have seen better days. Grass isn't very abundant here. It almost looked like the cows have eaten most of the grass here! Not that I'm comparing this park to Brackenridge Park, which I had visited the weekend before, but it was kind of a boring visit overall to Bullis County Park. Then again, if school were in session, I'm sure it would have been loads better with kids enjoying the playground and possibly frolicking through the flowers. I say this because it's real close to Timberwood Park Elementary School, and it would make for a nice place to unwind and relax after school, if the weather were nicer, that is. 3 stars for now. I still recommend stopping by if you want to stretch your legs, but don't expect anything memorable here. The only thing memorable about my visit to this park was sipping on my cold smoothie, which allowed me to stay at the park for a while without burning in the hot sun.

Not a bad park but most of the walking is on wide paved sidewalk that runs around the outside of the park. It's mainly set up to bring your kids . There are plenty of playground options, a baseball diamond, and soccer goal for kids to practice kicking into and stuff like that. Not a bad park. I'll have to come back when I have more time and hit the trails and do another review.

When visiting please keep in mind that they are not only a hiking trail, but they have multiple soccer fields, and a pirate-theme playground at Mitchell's Landing. The playground is truly a masterpiece which was created for kids of all ages. Frankly my kid was having the time of his life running from one side to another not knowing where to even start, which I guess was a good problem to have. The reason why I am not giving them 5 stars is because parking is a nightmare. There are not enough parking spots to fit the crowds that come here. Between the soccer classes, birthday parties and the morning walkers, parking is super hard to get and you might have to be driving around a couple times until you get one. If it wasn't because of the birthday I was going, I would've turned around and go back home. Regardless, this is an amazing park and highly recommend for anyone with kids as little as 2 - 12.

There's a short little nature trail if you feel like a walk. But don't try this in the Summer heat. Basic Softball field and playground also. Best thing about the park is its away from the noisy busy roads, in fact you have to take a little side street to get to it, so it has a peaceful feel and you can recharge your eardrums and mind from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Parking is close by or close to the bridge. Visitors can also fish near the bridge as well. There are also water fountains for humans and pets next to the public restrooms. There are benches along the path and trash cans. Also, this place is great for capturing photos of nature. The area is a flood zone so be careful when it rains. There's shaded walking trails but nothing that is like a field to play on. It's also very close to the main road but it is fully fenced around so that's nice. Also took a short walk down to the river on a trail that was fairly steep. The main trail is paved and easily handicapped accessible. There are placards on the trail, displaying wildlife, early inhabitants, etc. it was pretty interesting . The park also has an old farmhouse and area around the house with display set up and placards describing each item, nice trip through history.

Nice little green space tucked away across from a subdivision near I35. There are two parks side by…read moreside with a playground, splash pad, pavilions, and clean bathrooms. The trail map shows two very short trails (.04 and .05 miles), but we managed to get in 4 miles by veering off the dirt trail onto unmarked trails. The main paved trail is shaded about 50% of the way and the dirt/rock trail is not shaded at all (unless you veer off into the woods like we did). There's a small creek that runs along the dirt trail so we saw lots of people fishing. (The water is gross so it's not suitable for swimming.) Lots of parking and some historical buildings to see. Overall a great find--we'll be back.
