I'm always tempted by a bit of cake action, even if I've just gorged on a full Sunday roast, so it can be a dangerous event walking along the road casually browsing new territory. In this case, my first instance exploring Cross Gates, I suddenly came upon Woodhead and realised I'd found a bit of a temptation. I decided to ignore it completely but, of course, ended up finding my way back along the street eventually!
Having just had coffee and a cake some way up the road at LB's I knew there was really no need to venture in. I stared longingly through the window at their delicious looking offerings - four bread cakes for only 48p, 4 baps for 40p! There were delightful easter themed creations, animals, gorgeous russian slices and even a beautiful looking Mother's day cake!
I browsed the offerings as many a happy customer purchased their delicious cakes; they are obviously popular as I'm sure they had virtually sold out of sandwiches. Still, in spite of the cheap and delicious goods I held strong, I'd only just had a piece of cake and so a little restraint was much in order. However, next time - oh beguiling russian slice, you will be mine. Oh yes you will!
