Demand causes all sorts of things. Some good, some not so good. Demand for housing immediately after the First World War led to an extensive building program in Ely, beginning in 1921. The emerging community needed health care. Quicker than you could say George's Marvellous Medicine the Practice was founded, in 1926, by Dr Morgan Williams.
A proper family Practice, the founder and later his daughter (Dr Elizabeth Havard) served the local population for a total of 53 years. Go Morgan and Lizzie. Today Woodlands Medical Centre is a group practice providing medical care to the residents of Ely and also to the surrounding villages in the picturesque Vale of Glamorgan.
Working from the medical centre are five General Practitioners, supported by three practice nurses, along with community District Nurses, Midwives and Health Visitors. read more
