My friends are always complaining about the science teachingthere are only a few good science teachers thereit's only down to luck if you get a good teacher. Bad luck if you don't :(. I think that the psychology and English departments are extremely good :D.very supportive and the teachers help perfect your skills which is GREAT!...the canteens cool.food is often nice.but sometimes not that good.but ihave to say the environment is spacious, beautiful and helps you concentrate. This is a local state school which takes from a wie range of surrounding areas and backgrounds. They have a distinctive blue school uniform and they staff are kind and laid back. In my opinion the school seems to suffer from no leadership because the student are very rowdy and have no manners or mannerisms. Although the school is really nice in terms of buildings,support materials and some teachers.The bullying and behavior of a good portion of the girls there is shocking!! The support they give you if your child is being bullied is very ineffective and our daughter as suffered daily abuse and physical abuse! The school has a very good ofstead report for both the infant and the junior school which makes it all the more appealing to sen dyour child out there. The foundation year staffs are very friendly and though firm I believe do a very good job in settling in the new students very quickly. Originally a grammar school founded by the Franciscans, it was the first voluntary aided comprehensive school to be awarded technology college status in East London. This was my secondary school. I had a great time here. As a Technology College, St Bonaventure's endeavours to promote an educational climate which is scientific, technological and vocational. Almost half the timetable is taken up with the teaching of Technology, Information Technology, Mathematics and Science. Located in Forest Gate, it has great access by both the district line (Get off at Upton park and then a 10min walk), and by plenty of buses so access is not a problem. In terms of uniform, years 7-9 wear a brown blazer with gold trim, gold and black stripped tie, black trousers and black shoes. year 10-11 students wear a black blazer with gold trim, yellow and black stripped tie, black trousers and black shoes. the P.E Kit was the same for both. It was white shorts, Blue jersey with a white horizontal stripe, and trainers. During my time, years 7-9 were not allowed outside of school for lunch. years 10-11 were allowed. School dinners were nothing special although the doughnuts were great. Outside of school, there are plenty of chicken shops and newsagents about 2 minutes walkfrom the school. This is a great school with a natural progression into the sixth form centre which has a high level of oxbridge applicants and admissions. One of the best (If not the best) consistantly for the last 15 years in grades. Highly recommended.

Also has its own car park although its only for about 10/15 cars so you generally overflow into the car park of the shops next to the school. Its set on the same grounds as the junior school although they are actually seperate schools. The headteacher, Mrs Cosgrow is very approachable and they publish a weekly newsletter online so its easy to keep up to date with the events etc.
