But God will punish them sevenfold for using God as a way to feed their greed. The education is so expensive, but not only that, if you make a mistake, they make you pay with your soul and life. They are money-hungry, using God as a way into your bank account. We have been with Abeka for 2 years now, happy to have an education that starts school with the Word of God and prayer. But the sinister part is the money. We don't mind scraping up what money we have for a good education for our child that teaches about God. So we thought we could do a 3rd year with them. We ordered the wrong items on accident. We were trying to hurry to use the discount coupons they had available and ordered the wrong items. We didn't open the items; we just wanted to return them and put the money we just paid toward the right items. But no, Abeka wants us to pay another payment down to be able to get the labels to return the wrong items we ordered, wait for the money to come back. They gave us 30 days, and if the items don't reach them within 30 days, which they won't due to delivery delays, weather, or them delaying on purpose to drain you of every cent, then they add another 10% restocking fee. I can't just throw another large payment out into the air. I need school supplies to buy for the other part of the school, like pencils, a dictionary they require, glue, colors, etc. Abeka is not forgiving. Returns are expensive. Your mistakes are expensive. The way Abeka forgives your mistakes is exactly how God will forgive their mistakes. These are children's education materials you are overcharging for. To teach kids about God, you are making it financially unable to happen. I will pray that God makes it impossible for everyone who owns and works for Abeka to enter heaven. If I had the ability to teach children about God and educate them the way Abeka does, I would do it for FREE. YOU'RE TEACHING CHILDREN! God's children. The children who still seek God. That's who you are teaching, and you know God's children have it hard in this world. But you are making it impossible. We ordered my son a large book order. The books came in but never made it home. Got the run around…read moreand they just expect me to just overlook it. Then we are getting ready to move. I packed my whole house and no books. I send an email to the teacher to get his belongings. She says she will have them ready. I go to pick them up and guess what he has no belongings. Shocker! The last day of school the kids bring home their belongings but if you move, you do not get anything. My son also way diagnosed with a learning disability but does not qualify for any programs. Just wow. Enough said.

Then again, she *has* been concentrating awfully hard on letter "C" and drawing cornstalks and scarecrows....oh wait, Halloween just passed. Nevermind. She has an awesome teacher. If I thought the teacher would feel comfortable being named here, I would, but with all the cyber gray areas, I'll resist the temptation to sing her praises by name. This teacher is fully engaged with the children. One day my child came in late and was reluctant to join the class and my cajoling wasn't helping. Mrs. _ took command, firmly but kindly directed S where to go when I could not - and blew me away with her adult to child communication skills. I almost felt like turning myself in to the principal's office for being a slacker. I check Little Daughter's book bag everyday and her in-school work is thoroughly checked for mistakes, she is given 'family' homework, regular progress reports, and updates. If I have to email her teacher, I get a response within a day, usually within hours. Once, she had a problem with another studen trying to take her lunch away from her. She came home one day hungry and explained that someone had taken her lunch (she's 5!!!) and she didn't get to eat. My initial response was to go all Ninja around corners and slink down the hall into the cafeteria and get that little 5 year old punk at lunchtime by the collar and tell him if he ever stole her lunch again, he'd better watch his back at recess. Then I realized that was not what a Mature Adult would do, and I emailed Mrs. _ , who had the situation rectified the next day, and Little Daughter out of his target zone. My only gripe is that there is too much junk food at the school. Gummy bears for treats, and the typical crap cafeteria food in every school. But they are trying; they are putting more whole grains out, the kids cannot use their pin numbers to charge ice cream to the lunch account(they have to have cash), so that helps it when it comes to cutting back on the junk. So I'm not deducting stars. Seriously, this is one awesome teacher. And overall, it looks like a great school.

Main office staff: Unprofessional, patronizing, rude, dismissive and disrespectful. An experience…read morefor my kids and for me as a parent that become memorable for all the wrong reasons. On the positive side this experience served as a teachable moment for my kids. The eldest was at disbelief asking over and over again: Why are you been treated like this? How aren't you mad? Why don't you say something or call someone? Mom! Why are you so calm, even though you are being polite, they continue to treat you like this. This isn't right. In that moment, seeing how upsetting this experience was for them, gave me serenity and strength to remain calm. After exiting the premises, I sat with my kids and explained to them. How others treat you when they are in a position of authority or under any other circumstances when is required of them to act with professionalism, empathy and understanding says everything about them. If you respond with aggression and disrespect, you will be exactly like them. Never get down to their level, always remain respectful.

My son began struggling in 10th grade while attending a local public high school. I can't begin to tell you how many meetings we had with teachers, counselors, deans, principals, IEP and district representatives. Since he wasn't a discipline problem they kept passing him on. I soon learned my son was an experiment for a floundering system. Following a terrible semester report card, we decided to search for a private school. I was surprised to find Pensacola had so many choices. After visiting most of them, I concluded these private schools were all a one-size fits all style of student and curriculum all except for SoLA. On our second visit to SOLA, Mrs. Tarver "interviewed" my son to identify what was missing in his quest to become a lifelong learner. Finally a school administrator that was willing to get to the core of why he wasn't learning. The SoLA staff had truly taken an interest in my son reaching his full potential. SoLA taught him first; that he must want to learn. Once he learned this skill others followed, including; independent thinking, creativity, integrity and balance, he became happier and believed for the first time he could do this work. He became independent, self-motivated and the stress level in our home dropped significantly. Final thought: While our local schools are struggling to lift performance across the board, SoLA is doing this one student at a time. Teachers will always be underpaid - and underappreciated but the teachers at SoLA know they didn't choose to teach for these reasons. They chose education to change lives and the Pensacola School of Liberal Arts does this greater than anyone else... One student at a time. I go in to read to that class and I have seen them, and the children are killing them and disposing of them properly. Once again I say that this is a very good School. Most of the time you go to Avalon Middle School after that school, but like me when you moved during school and changed areas, (depending on where you moved) you would go to Sims Middle School or Hobs Middle School. Once again I say that this school is a Very good school and I would recommend this to a friend, however when you were enrolling your child, ask about the roach problem and tell them to take care of it. This place is horrific, teachers drain people with projects and homework and u can't even keep up…read moresince you have two projects from different classes but gonna be due 3 days after the 1st project. This place is hot cross buns since people don't even flush the toilet and whenever i go to the stalls i see a 20 inch log of poo just sitting there and the bathrooms smell weird. The lunch also gives some not edible stuff like some chicken that looking like some handmade mashed potatoes ontop with some poopy sauce ontop of it. I would not recommend this school
