INCREDIBLE!!! The front desk people were LOVELY and so helpful. Its so efficient- you sign up with them and scan you drivers license. So whenever you want to scan in you just scan your license. And its FREE for DC residents!! It's HUGE!! With nice changing rooms and a wonderful pool- they have floaters and pool noodles too. Super clean.

Pool entrance as of April 2023.

Currently closed indefinitely due to repairs and failures to meet various DC Dept of Health inspections. (As of May 12, 2023) Completed repairs could take 12 months - and unclear if temporary fixes will allow pool to re-open before then.

This is the best short/long course pool in the DC, Maryland, Virginia area. I have been a competitive swimmer all my life and am impressed with the pool layout, aquatics programs and athletes training here. Wilson Pool does have its positives and negatives. Positives: -The pool and locker room facility is clean - They alternate between 25 and 50 meter lanes every other day - They facility provides kick boards, flippers and other swim gear for free - There are very dedicated athletes here - The pool is free for DC residents - There is a warm up/cool down pool and hot tub to soothe muscles Negatives: - The pool is always very crowded unless it is opening or closing time - Staff is available but not very friendly - There have been instances of people getting belongs stolen so please lock up your stuff - They need more programs and co-ed swim groups so people can meet other swimmers

I've been swimming at the Wilson Aquatic Center for more than two years, almost as long as it's been open. It's incredible. The pool is a stellar 50 meters, which is also the major reason this facility is the finest aquatic center in Washington. One of the beauties of the pool is that swimmers of all levels swim the 50 meters, which is divided into slow, medium and fast lanes, in addition to a leisure lane for water-walking and other exercise. Newer swimmers can improve their fitness while more experienced swimmers get a good workout and improve their strokes. And everyone can enjoy the gorgeous, long stretch of water. There is also a smaller lap pool at Wilson with slightly warmer water, a kiddie pool with lots of ways to play, including kiddie basket ball. I love this pool and swim 4-5 days a week there. And it's free for DC residents! Unfortunately, there is an effort to turn the lanes around so they are 25 yards wide, which is upsetting to hundreds of people. In less than 3 weeks, more than 600 swimmers signed a petition to keep the 50-meter length. http://www.gopetition.com/petitions/save-the-wilson-50.html For people who like shorter lanes (25 yards or meters), there are 8 other public pools available in DC.

I also was coached by Keanne Henry, who is a fellow OnPoint instructor, and she is a fantastic coach with a slightly different coaching style from Lloyd. Love them both.
