When I was attending that school, the experience was fantastic. Teachers and staff members were kind and courteous. Especially during freshman year when you absolutely have no clue where you are going. There's someone there to guide you. I enlisted in the NAVY'S JRROTC during my 4 yrs there, and the experience was memorable. There are so many events and PT drills. It definitely taught me a few things. Time fly when you're having fun with friends and events. Many things have changed since technology evolved. I wouldn't say you would gain the same experience but more of a fast-paced movement experience. Seems like everyone is doing something solo or collaborating with another. Overall, this school is amazing. I'll definitely recommend it to friends and families. Come check it out and ask for a tour. It's worth it. read more

The varsity men's soccer coach has NO discipline. He came to our school and had him and his whole team charge their phone, curse, and make a mess in our home bleachers. Mind you, they have their own visitors bleachers. The coach has no regard, lacks common sense, and feels entitled to go where he please. Beautiful campus but They are too "loose" liberal here . They treat kids like they are in college. No ID checking system so it's a MESS. And they wonder why the kids are out fighting in the neighborhoods during lunch and god knows what else. Step up the security and supervision!! My experience at this school was not ideal. I keep to myself and don't like to be in the center of a drama that much... but, drama always seems to find me. I've faced challenges with bullying, and the staff's responses to such incidents could have been more effective. Some teachers have bad attitudes and often times project that onto other kids. Absolutely not. Teacher "Mrs.Cunradi" was so unlikeable. When she would try and dress code students she tried to go to the extreme- turned the heater on the highest heat so i could take my different colored sweater off. The heater was on my legs, not my torso. Also F*** Coach SMITHEREN, FISHER, AND NEIL. All a**holes who are track coaches. They're so unreasonable and ruined my grade. read more

Super impressed with the upgrades to the football field. The Track and field looks really good and the turfgrass is well kept. They did a great job for the visiting teams side and they have tv's available down on the field for instant replays. The school is doing a great job with keeping the school pride at an all time high! Went to the Wilson Dance Spring show. In a word Phenomenal job. Everyone should support this group of teens. This was a very well put together show. I've seen many dance shows and was extremely empresses that these were high school students. Keep up the good work Wilson Dance. Great memories going to school here in the 80's. Every time I come to Long Beach l try to drive by and relive the great times, I had going to school here. I was so blessed to have met so many wonderful people and live in such a beautiful city. It will always have a special place in my heart. I gave it 5 stars because I don't know much about Wilson High except that Wilson High was one of the best schools back in the 90's. I'm surprised it's gotten bad, but I'm not one to judge because I'm not there on the regular. I hope Wilson gets better like they were in the past, if not, then I would recommend having Mr. Michael Navia who is currently the Principal at Milikan High school to straighten out Wilson High school. Before Mr. Michael Navia was principal at Millikan High school, Milikan was horrible, but when they hired Mr. Michael Navia as the principal, he made Milikan high a better school. Mr. Michael Navia has changed several bad schools into good schools. If Wilson high doesn't make any changes for the better, then I would definitely suggest that Wilson hire Mr. Michael Navia to make those changes. God bless. read more

Review is ONLY for the outdoor facilities and football field. It's a bit strange to have the bleachers right on a major street...7th Street. Traffic is beyond crazy busy on event nights. There's no parking lot and you will drive around for long periods of time looking for a place to park on a side street in the neighborhood. Lines to get in the stadium get backed up along the sidewalk and there's no crosswalk. Seems a bit unsafe for kids especially. read more

It's alright I guess, staff still are overly, not even strict, just ignorant about the dress code. This school focuses more on dress code then the drugs kids use and sell. I see kids smoke all the time in the bathrooms and don't even get punished. Staff pull kids out, for a not very smart thing, for their sweaters not being school colors, I find it so so ridiculous, sweaters are sweaters and this school needs to change that. Anyway, I like the counselor in the LPS pathway, he is great and very very helpful. Also Ms.Shipman if that's even how you spell her name, she's a sweetheart. But lots of math teachers do not know how to teach. The school is alright, but the students here are mmm not very good. OH YEA TOILET PAPER, THERE IS NEVER TOILET PAPER IN EVERY BUILDING, THE CUSTODIAN OR JANITOR DOES NOT PUT IN ENOUGH TOILET PAPER CHECK INS but that's the schools fault not the worker. Went with my 8th grader to check out the high school! Everything was great! Very welcoming, huge campus and lots of promise. The only issue I had was with the Softball coach. We went around to the all the sports groups and everyone was really nice except him. He was rude and basically brushed us off when my daughter mentioned she had no experience. He made me fill uncomfortable and I felt bad for my daughter cause he basically made her feel like you have no experience don't try out. The administration at this school is incompetent and they are constantly changing the way the school schedule works. The administration went from wave, block schedule program to having classes everyday with students getting burned out with zero period and non sport time for 7th period. Math teachers that are new hires and do not understand math...Programs that the administration did not believe worked. Now, in 2017, the adminstration is going back to block schedule and is trying to recruit freshman to an individualized program. The administration continues to manipulate and turn things around without any concern for students. The administration also allows a police state on campus with numerous arrest and no parent collaboration. read more

I would honestly give the school itself a 5 star, but due to recent experience, it got only 2. The school was amazing, but if you plan on coaching at this school, especially softball, I suggest you second guess it! There are always two coaches per division. They tell you they will pay you for working there and when you are hit with family problems and financial hardship they say that they originally hired you to be at there for the whole season and that you would only be paid a small stipend. The don't give you a copy of the contract when requested or anything. They don't tell you that they won't pay you for the times you did work. They try to make you feel guilty for leaving the other coach "high and dry" when in reality, they leave you all high and dry. They are greedy. They suck all the money out of the students and parents and don't give anything back. Where does the money go? Parents still ask this, even at the parent meetings. They never know where the money goes, or what it goes to. They don't know what is spent. They tell you they will tell you, but they don't. They never tell you what they spend it on. Just that it is "for the program." They also make empty promises. First they promise the girls to have spirit packs. Then what happens? They said, oh too bad, we're only offering this option to the Varsity girls even though the head coach tells every parent that each girl will have an opportunity to purchase the pack. Not only did they lie, they let down the girls who were actually looking forward to this spirit pack. They promise coaches helmets and that doesn't happen. Not only that, they tell you they will reimburse you for different things but they don't. One example is the cpr & first aid training course. They tell you they will reimburse you but they don't. They tell you a lot of things to reel you in. Then they use you up, stress you out, just so that you will quit. That's their goal so that they won't have to pay you. Right now, they say they will save the money from the hit-a-thon and use that for the banquet. More than likely, they will ask for more money during the season and say that it will be "for the banquet". I wouldn't trust the head coach at all. Not one bit. The head coaches hire 4 Varsity coaches, but can't find 2 for the freshman team. They cut almost every girl to where there is only the bare minimum amount of players. They don't plan very well at all. Lack of Communication. While working, I get constant complaints from parents stating that they cannot reach the head coach. There is absolutely no communication unless the coach wants something from you. I used to play softball for this school. I loved it. The coaches made me feel like home, but these coaches....this is a whole another story. Each division is separated by an invisible wall. Coaches in higher division talk down to those in the lower division. How is this suppose to encourage girls to strive to do well when the coaches make them feel inadequate? To be honest, the lower division softball team does better than the higher division softball team (JV and Varsity). What kind of team discourages girls from moving up? Girls move up to JV because they can't be in any other team due to their age. Long story short, DO NOT coach for Wilson's Softball Team unless you plan on volunteering. read more

This school is SUPER SUPER STRICT with their uniform policy, which is fine but they even make the students change their clothes when it's appropriate to uniform they say non collar shirts are gang related even though the shirt is Wilson colors and you can't wear any other sweater or jacket unless it's Wilson colors or Wilson logo the staff catch students for every single thing. Us students could be all the way on c side (across the street) and if you wear pe shorts or something "inappropriate" which isn't inappropriate at all, they will send you all the way to the front of the school even with all the construction they make you go around and change out into undersized ugly clothes and then the student gets in trouble for being late tot class, the teachers don't know how to teach, it's so hard to pass your classes because the teachers don't teach correctly. read more
