I have seen Dr. Woods for the past three years. I went to her when I was in a horrible personal crisis which had rendered me unable to function. I found her to be intelligence, knowledgeable, compassionate and effective. Also, I found her strong enough and direct enough to call me on my "stuff" when needed. I feel very lucky to have been in her care at that fragile time in my life. On more than one occasion, Dr. Woods extended my appointment time when I was at my "worst" clinically speaking. She went above and beyond to make herself available when I was in crisis. Eventually, I expanded my counseling with Dr. Woods to include my partner and my mother. I found her extremely insightful in helping us work out our familial relationship. I think back on that time and I am grateful to have been under her care. One of the worst mistakes I ever made was to set an appointment for my daughter with Frances Wood PhD. Do not choose Frances Woods as your therapist. My daughter was diagnosed with bulimia, a very life threatening disease. She was evaluated by two of the best hospitals in the United Sates and the recommendation for my daughter was inpatient treatment based on her severe purging of 5 to 20 times a day. My eighteen year old daughter did not want to leave her boyfriend for the length of time it would take to recover from this disease. Desperate for help I set an appointment for my daughter with Frances Wood PhD. Within ten minutes into our appointment Frances Wood PhD told my daughter she did not need inpatient treatment for her bulimia and she said she had seen a lot worse. I did not think she made a professional evaluation. unfortunately my daughter continued therapy with her. Frances Wood PhD prescribed a medicine that had horrible side effects and my daughter could not even get out of bed. We were invited for a family visit with Frances Wood PhD. Within ten minutes Frances Wood PhD decided I the mother with three teenage daughters listening was a monster and a horrible parent. She said I had dissociate personality disorder, She accused me of brutally beating and abusing my children when they were young and having no memory of it, I am not a PhD but I think she would need more than ten minutes of time, multiple tests, and a few more visits with me to be able to diagnose such a complicated psychological disorder.. This was the first visit for my other two daughters and they had not even said a word about their child hood?? She accused me of dragging my children by their hair across the room when they were younger. None of my daughters had told her anything like these gross lies. One of my daughters frighten by his lady started crying, Frances Wood PhD was feeding absolute BS to my daughters, and with that being said she tried to set individual appointment for them. Frances Wood PhD charges over $100 an hour and I honestly felt like she was using the crude tactics of a shady used car salesman. My daughters had been caught drinking under age several times by the police. They had a period of probation and Frances Wood PhD said that it was normal for teenagers to sneak out of the house at 1:00 am and drink underage! She said the probation/ caseworker for Missouri are a joke as she tipped her head back and laughed. Frances Wood PhD said "the caseworker probably threaten my daughters with foster care where they would be sexually molested". I told Frances Wood PhD that the counselors I had for my daughters was very knowledgeable, kind and helped my daughters stop a potential drinking problem, Frances Wood PhD pointing her finger at me looking very angry said I was absurd! Frances Wood PhD had one insult after another toward me. I think Frances Wood PhD needs a lot of help herself,. I left her office and went directly to an attorney. Frances Wood PhD is one of most unprofessional women I ever have met. I should of known by the tacky dirty office and reception area!
