The kitchen utensils, cups, glasses, cookware and everything else, has not been replaced nor updated since 1984. You basically need to rent a uhaul and bring half of your kitchen, half of your linens, comforters, towels- just bring everything from home- DO NOT USE anything there. Drape the sofas, bedpost, use flip flops to shower, do not touch anything in shower, use disposable toilet seat cover. Just skip kitchen all together go out to eat. There are No lights on deck nor steps going down to lower deck; no lights on lower deck. So unless there's a full moon, you will basically need to bring flashlights, lanterns, solar lights, even a candle to light the way. The BBQ grill had used burnout charcoal from last renters. Couldn't open sliding doors facing the river at night because the screen doors are missing. The tv is BEHIND the sofa as if we have eyes behind our heads, and it is smaller than my computer screen. They offer streaming services- but when you open Netflix, they have created a profile with your name,in their streaming apps, without permission and it is impossible to log out of their streaming services in order to log into yours. So you are stuck with that. All 4 ceiling fans are very dirty, and with all the dust and dirt please don't forget your zyrtec. Bottom line for $145 - $165 per night, and having to haul everything that you will need- you are better off camping by the river, renting a cabin from another company or staying at a hotel. This people are riding on free natural views of the river and nature, while disgracefully renting out these cabins that are no better than camping under a bridge. DO NOT RENT FROM THEM; THEY OWN SEVERAL CABINS LIKE THIS ONE.

Our first B&B experience we didn't know exactly what to expect but we really enjoyed it. Bob, the owner, is just so sweet and we loved his hospitality. He makes you breakfast each morning and makes you feel very welcome and at home. It's a bit old school because we called to make a reservation and Bob just takes your name and number and that's it. No credit card number, no confirmation email... just show up, he's waiting for you! The house itself has so much character, built in the 1830's, we loved looking at all the unique rooms and old- timey decor. Definitely recommend and would visit again! Also would like to add that one of the common complaints that I read on yelp when we were looking for places to stay was that the noise from the highway was too much. Maybe it was our room's location in the house but I'll honestly say that it was barely noticeable and definitely not something that's even worth mentioning.

The breakfasts were fantastic; mostly variations on pancakes and French toasts (heavier than what I would have made myself at home, but hey, we were on vacation!). We ate in the dining room at a large table with other guests. It was great making acquaintances over those few days; getting to see them in the mornings and compare notes about what we'd seen/done the day before. The location was great, we had no problem exploring local wineries and small towns in the area. At the suggestion of the owners, we visited a local civil war museum and battlefield which were truly fascinating. We even made it to Monticello! All in all it was a perfect stay, we would love to go back!!

We stayed for a week and although there were several small kids, noise level was minimal during the day and nonexistent after 9 pm. The camp host worked endlessly to keep the grounds free of trash/leaves on the main roadways and walking paths. There was a sheriff's vehicle that drove through periodically which was an added security. There are a variety of walking trails from easy to more advanced adventures. Sites are $10 off season and $20 for in season. They do have bath houses open for in season campers and several bathrooms that are well kept all year long.

The trails in the area aren't difficult to hike at all even kids can do most of them. In the summer the creek is a fun place to swim and there is lots of history in the park go explore and have fun.

It's outdoors but so enjoyable. Also make sure you stop by Luray Caverns. It is nearby. I have been there several times already. Beautiful place to see. So my recommendation would be to check out the Lucas cabins first. They have numerous locations to see and enjoy. We definitely will be returning. So worth it. Nothing like peace and quiet when you work or live near the city. Just get ready to be moooo.

Features of small parking area, for about 20 cars. As well there are tent pad sites that are nicely leveled and each site has a picnic table. There is also a restroom. The one drawback is the lack of water, since the pump has been broken for some time. I've also heard rumors that the water was contaminated. For hiking in the local area this is a great jump off spot. You can go south to tibbet Knob, or North up to Big Schloss. If you have 3 or 4 days to kill, you can do the circumnavigation of the entire Trout Run Valley. That way you will get to see Mill Mountain, North Mountain and half moon Mountain. It's one of the best hikes in the Mid-Atlantic region with lots of great camping and and places to get fresh water.

We checked in and there were food crumbs scattered across the floor--- one of the crumbs even resembling a roach but I was too afraid to pick it up. The desk chair and desk were really sticky. The room itself, though listed as non-smoking, clearly had a smoker inside it before us... we had to keep the windows open at first! I gave an extra star because the internet was surprisingly more stable here than other hotels and also the shower head water pressure is pretty strong--- soo at least you'll feel clean/better about your stay? Idk.
