    Pier's Ploughman's Lunch and Fries
    Con B.

We ordered the Pier's Ploughman's Lunch which was served on a board and included an Apple and Watercress Slaw, Gran Reserva Jamon, Huntsman's Terrine, aged cheddar, stilton, house pickled vegetables, soft egg, english cream, sourdough $26. Not bad but could have been so much better if a little more respect was paid to the jamon (7/10). The taste was fine but I am guessing it had been sliced days earlier as some was in clumps. The terrine was a bit tasteless like my grandmother's meat loaf (6/10). The pickles, cheeses, slaw and sourdough were excellent (9/10) and lifted the rest of the board. We also shared a bowl of the French fries $8 (7/10) which by the way went very well with the english cream as a dipping sauce.

Beers on tap. Classic Aussie beers

They call themselves the gastropub of Woolwich and they have lived up to their name. The duck confit that I've ordered came in very tender and went well with the sauce. My friends seafood pasta came in al dente and very flavoursome. The great quality food justifies the higher than thy average pub prices. I agree with some of the other reviews written about this pub: They've got to have better service. Firstly you've gotta line up near a bar to get a food order. And then they give you a buzzer which sounded like it's gonna explode. Finally you'll have to go collect your food from the counter. In our case, we were sitting upstairs at the balcony, enjoying the views. Carrying two massive plates of food up steep stairs while balancing two drinks isn't for the faint hearted. The bar upstairs was unmanned hence we got to go downstairs again to get some water and serviettes too. I would come back again. But this time I'll probably sit downstairs near the kitchen.

    Pork belly and apple crisps.

Great place for a Sunday lunch with friends or a birthday gathering. Food is great and incredibly fast given how busy it is.

Stumbled on their website by accident and was hooked by their special 1st anniversary degustation…read morenight of their six best selling dishes. Menu looked fantastic and I can't stop thinking about it, so I made a reservation. Since my favourite French restaurant closed last year, I've been on the lookout for a new favourite, this could be it. A glass of sparkling on arrival and a friendly smile, enough to make a great first impression before our amuse bouche arrived, Escargot with Garlic & Parsley Butter. Definitely a great start! We didn't have to wait long before the first course arrived, Sydney Rock Oysters with Sauce Mignonette. Vinegar with mince eschallots made great accompaniment to the freshly shucked oysters. Black Truffle & Mushroom Veloute with Crumbed Quail Egg is creamy and earthy with perfectly cooked crumbed quail egg added necessary texture to the dish. Pan Fried Pancetta Rolled Scallop with Foie Gras, Fennel Remoulade, Lemon & Lime Vinaigrette was excellent. This was my favourite dish of the night. It was sublime. Everything on the plate complemented each other and the foie gras added complexity to the dish. Kimchi, Tofu, Ham Hock Terrine with Apple, Ssamjang Chutney, Sesame Leaf & Nashi Pear Walnut Salad was fresh and a great follow up after a heavy meal, a palate cleanser before our next heavy meal. But the highlight and my husband's favourite dish of the night was Grilled Eye Fillet of Beef with Basil Pistou & Jus. Perfectly seared sous vide beef so tender it felt like butter when you cut through it. It left an impression on my husband so big he seriously contemplating on buying a sous vide machine to try and recreate it. Just when we thought they can't go any better than this, desserts came. I had the Passionfruit and Plum Creme Brulée with its perfectly cracked caramelised sugar topping added extra crunch. I can't really taste the plum though, but found generous amount of Passionfruit inside the Brulée. My husband chose the Apple Tarte Tatin, Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream & Salted Crumbed and I can tell you he kept telling how happy he was that he chose it for his dessert. The proof is in the pudding, or in this case the Tarte Tatin as he scraped clean his plate within minutes of consuming it. Great timing on the delivery for each course. The matching wines I had with my meals were greatly matched. All that combined with intimate ambience and friendly staff definitely completed a pleasant dining experience.

The pumpkin puree and pomegranate are a excellent compliment to the Barramundi, im really impressed   My fiancé loved her duck dish also. Everyone else had no complaints with there dishes WE didn't try any desserts The Set menu is $60 for 3 courses, the zomato menu is outdated. But from this you will only save $4 or $5, In general I found the prices a little expensive Service was attentive and friendly though food took a little longer to come out than expected Despite the price it's a place I would come back to try something else. Worth trying!

Duck liver parfait, there is no place where this doesn't taste good and this is the same here. The bread is sweet but shouldnt be so crunchy Burgundy snails, the way they cooked it was perfect, the texture is just right but there wasn't enough garlic in it as there is hardly any flavour from the snails themselves My friend blue swimmer crab,he told me it's just average, nothing special but he liked our other mains Hot pot calamari, for me it was ok but to the other 3 people they were really impressed. The calamari was not rubbery and I did like the tomato based stock/sauce Duck "a l'orange" was the best main of the night. The potato gratin was a excellent compliment to the taste of the duck,it enhanced it to flavour explosions in my mouth! So so good! Dessert wise we had the Vatels crepe suzette . Another must try dish, all the ingredients meshed into one sweet mouthful of joy! Service was friendly and attentive The Ambience is that of a modern high class restaurant Prices are what you would expect from any French restaurant,on the pricer side My French friend felt it was authentic They have tues-Friday specials, will definitely be back for this A great dining experience

What can ruin your meal even more than person serves you don't want to be there ? The food is okay but the snail is the highlight but oyster is not that fresh . They all reasonably priced , we spent about $45 per person , got 5 entrees and 4 mains. We had no alcohol , oh is it why she was upset ? Hahah oh well .. Hope she feels better and someone gets better service than us . Didn't like the dessert . It is a romantic place to be with your loved ones but with average spending of 50-60 , I would recommend Vincent rather than here . The highlight dishes were : entree snail , mains were crab spaghetti and barramundi are pretty good and priced at :$31-32 From the customer that turned out they were all local so maybe the locals love it.

I ordered the lobster crab bisque and again, it had no meat substance at all, I was expecting at least a mouthful of lobster or crab but no, Just a fishy soup with a herb base. For the price it was not a good start. The staff were very inattentive at first, but then the wait staff switched and were more pleasant which made us all more pleasant. The food was very average. The wine bottle was triple the price of your local export. My steak was laid on a salsa verde purée which tasted aweful, so I spent the whole meal trying to remove that special sauce from my steak. I'm not sure why it was not put as a side in case you didn't like it, which I did not. Ruined the whole experience especially when paying $54 plus for the steak I left feeling underwhelmed and hungry, and wished I had gone somewhere else.
