This place is awesome for stocking up on all the freshest fruit and veggies, plus gourmet everything including meats, cheeses, nuts, and and beautiful array of hand made breads - oh yes tofu and tempe Even have spices and groceries so you can do a one stop shop - all your edibles will be incredible. We came back for the olive and rosemary sour dough bread which was sold out each day by 11am. On the way out with shopping bags bursting make a date with yourself to sit and relax as the cool sea breezes blows in swishing the palm trees under the shady shade cloth sipping chai lates and enjoy a tasty morsels - designer cakes, pastries, salads or sangers, lounging in the bean bags or at the big friendly communal tables. I sat at a little table (only two tables and chairs inside and two outside) and ate while observing the beautiful things for sale. The food was yummy and very fresh . The green tea is free. The two Japanese waitresses are very pleasant and helpful. The shop reminded me of the tea houses portrayed in a Hokusai or Hiroshige wood block prints from the Japanese Edo period. For those seeking an uncomplicated economic meal or some ingredients for cooking Japanese food I recommend Red Ginger . You wont regret it.

A word of warning, the markets are the main attraction on a Sunday and so parking can be an absolute nightmare, better off leaving the car at the holiday bungalow and walking, it's really not very far from the town centre of main beach.

Mon Patisserie Francais!!!!…read more I miss these so much since coming to Australia as there just seems to be a lack of French pastry shops in general in this country, so I have been substituting them for TimTams. I came to Byron Bay with a student organization, and we had basically time for us to just hang out and do whatever we want. While walking through the shopping area, the first thing that drew me was the wonderful glass display of all the amazing and delicious pastries they have!!! They were practically calling out to me. My friends and I opted for the 12 piece pastry box which was basically small sized samples of each of their popular, if not, favorite pastries. This was the best way to go since the pastry box gave us a taste of everything!
