There is a few parking spaces right in front of the building, a bigger lot at the rear of the building, and plenty of street parking so lots of options. I am not sure if the park is part of the library but there is a grassy area with a huge tree in the center and a play house in the far back for kids to play. I noticed the fish tank when I walked in, and later, their library of things (appliances, games, gadgets, etc. to borrow) caught my attention. There are a few good things in their collection, but it is a bit less impressive compared to other libraries. I noticed they had a plant corner which was really cool and were giving seeds away to encourage patrons to garden. The computer lab is in the center of the library, with tables to study along the perimeter of the library and books scattered throughout organized by genre. There is a rack with puzzles where you can freely take a box and give a box which I think is a good exchange program for those like myself who like to do puzzles but not store them. I am sure there were other cool things about this library but I did not do much more exploring. I think it was one floor only. There is a kids section and they do have clean bathrooms.

A big wooden boat for the kids to play in and also a castle for them to go in. Lots of little puzzles for younger kids to manipulate hanging along the walls. My 8 year old really enjoyed it. Also looks like they do a number of activities and classes here. I think I saw something about a coding class and also some movies that would be playing. Overall very nice library. We'll be back!

When I saw the opportunity to make my own three dimensional leather rose listed on the June Events…read moreat Rochambeau library newsletter, I immediately registered by emailing rocadults@clpvd.org to reserve my seat. Registration is suggested. The event was held on Saturday, June 28 in MakerSpace starting at 3:30pm. When I entered Rochambeau library, there was a sign that gave instructions to MakerSpace. Cassidy introduced herself and there were 6 of us for the event. We sat at the desks with all the supplies and Cassidy informed us we have the option for a mini or a large leather rose. Most of us chose the large leather rose. First, Cassidy instructed us to cut the petals out of the leathercraft pattern for 3-D Leather Roses by Annie Libertini. Using the pattern, we then traced the shape onto the leather. Next, we soaked the leather with water. This helps the leather pliable and easier to mold. We pinched, twisted, and rolled the leather into the tight center of a rose. Using a bottle cap as a base, we put the outer shell and the inner shell of the rose together with some leather glue. Lastly, we just have to allow the petals to dry over night. The next day, the petals were dry and they held their shape. Cassidy was very friendly, very knowledgeable about leather, and gave instructions that were easy to follow. Rochambeau library has many different events, so I'm sure there is something for everyone.

The best of both…read moreworlds The Blackstone Public Library is a visual stunning but still an extremely useful, efficient and very modern library. I believe it was built around 1978 and has all the modern conveniences that you would expect in a new library. However what really makes this library special is the fact that although it is thoroughly modern it still has the unique feel and ambiance of an old and historical library. The architecture is stunning, from the stone exterior to the vaulted and beamed ceilings. Aesthetically lovely and spacious at the same time. Since it is a large library there are plenty of resources and places to spread out and relax and it's a pleasure just to walk through the wonderful space. One of the best parts of the library is the incredible Historical Room. Not only old books and records but a great genealogy section and even a section for newspaper obituaries. A truly stunning and lovely library that manages to look toward the future without forgetting about the past.

The WiFi is fast, no problems with that at all. Lots of big tables to really spread out all your work. Probably the best thing about this place is all the tables have power outlets in the middle of the tables. It is absolutely thee best thing ever about this place i love this. it is so convenient for me or anyone that needs power and doesn't have to go on a search for an outlet. tell them i sent you, quietly of course.

I moved from North Smithfield to the Burrillville area within the last couple of years. I was…read morehesitant to leave the North Smithfield library as that was the library that I went to growing up and I had become accustomed to it. My boyfriend told me that the library in Burrillville is actually really nice and he took me there one day. I'm so glad that he did because the library is incredibly impressive and it has turned into my favorite spot in town. It has plenty of room to be able to sit relax, read, and study. They also have an area for a community puzzle that you can work on. They have a really good book selection and they are connected to Ocean State library so if you don't find the book that you're looking for there they can have it ordered from another RI library. You can also drop off/return books from any Ocean State library to this library. The staff is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. They seem to coordinate a lot of events and keep things interesting at the library. For example, this summer they had a place where you could pick out some seeds for gardening and it was in collaboration with another local group. I'm so happy that I live close by to this library and that I tried something new and gave it a chance!

This is the closest library to us, so it is the one we go to most often. They have a good kid's…read morearea, and the whole library is nice and big. Everyone is friendly and helpful but they do NOT accept cards for payment (in my case, a late fee). Had to log onto the computer to pay it off which was faulty, and had to try three different computers before I could check out a new book. They have some cute kids activities to choose from, as do the other libraries in RI. We went to a couple story time sessions with the kids which they enjoyed. There is a park across the street from them now which I have not yet checked out, and also another small park up the road. Usually we make a park/library trip at the same time. I like the toys and activities at the Slatersville location better, but this library does have the largest kids area out of all I've been to.

Very special…read morelibrarians The Norwood Library is kind of a squat, small and bricky looking building. Not unattractive but certainly not one of the more stunning New England libraries. It looks like a bunker or air raid shelter on the outside, something that would survive just about anything. We got there just as it was closing, in fact it was closed and the librarians were leaving for the day. Itty, bitty libraries like this aren't open very often and you have to get the hours right. In fact the hours often change and are very irregular and not necessarily logical. However the very kind librarians let us in even though it kept them from leaving and didn't hurry us one bit. They were very friendly and pleasant even though it was obvious that we were keeping them from going home. They both patiently answered our stupid questions and even turned on the lights on and let us go downstairs. This library was built back in 1907 and is pretty cool if you take the time to look carefully. It is a very stout and strong looking building tucked in a small space but it does have some cool windows and an impressive slate roof. Obviously not one of the more impressive and grandiose libraries in New England but still a pretty cool place. We didn't have a lot of time to poke around the library but it was well organized and had all the usually library stuff. The kids section downstairs was especially cool. Just a little library in a small part of town. Nothing specially except for the accommodating librarians that sacrificed their time so we could poke around There are plenty of books and plenty of places to keep books, but librarians like this are what makes certain libraries very special.

Wild women and…read morebooks The first Pascoag library was founded way back in 1871 by a bunch of wild women calling themselves the Pascoag Union Sewing Society. These tempestuous ladies got together 163 books, appointed a librarian, took over some space in a local store and started a library. The library moved around quite a bit during it's early days but finally through numerous fund raisers and private donations the present building was constructed in 1924. The library is still privately owned and operated by the Ladies Pascoag Library Association and governed by the Board of Trustees which is still composed of just women. The first thing you notice when you walk in the door is how small the library is. At the best of times they do manage to squeeze in over 15,000 volumes, some videos, DVD's. periodicals and a couple of computers but it's a tight fit. The library also has various children and adult programs and of course the pert and perky librarians working here are wonderful, pleasant and knowledgeable beyond belief. Even though Pascoag Library is an itty, bitty place, it's about to grow up. The diminutive building is presently under construction and the new room being added to the back will double it's size when completed. Sure everything is a mess right now, with loud banging and sawing, stuff moving around and dust flying everywhere but it's a small price to pay for the additional room. The Pascoag Library still won't exactly be a huge place but what it lacks in size it more than makes up for in friendliness and coolness. Those wild and spunky ladies that started it way back in 1871 would be pleased.

I appreciate both printed BOOKS , MAGAZINES ,NEWSPAPERS and the fairly new information technology including dozens of computers available to library patrons. I would vote in ANY election for an increase in library funding. For years it was taken for granted by both library patrons and library staff that- conducive to studying and reading -QUIET and CIVILITY were the norm; indeed THE RULE, in public libraries. For some time now I have been perturbed by this unexplained , un-therapeutic, and RUDE to the general public DUMPING BUS LOADS OF MENTALLY DISTURNED YOUTH into the Cranston Public Library. Presently I am typing at a computer station here and seated to my left is a clearly mentally disturbed youth. Only the STATE OF RHODE ISLAND can be authorizing this unprofessional " treatment " of difficult minors. NOTE : The Cranston Public Library could at least give notice to regular patrons for " patience " with this " problem ". Some of us might just think that " brats " are the problem here. Like the homeless crisis ,the real problem here is the STATE of Rhode Island ( or perhaps the City of Cranston ? ) neglecting vulnerable people. A little library with…read morea lot The very first Knightsville library was established back in 1927 and was just a small spot in a local store. The is was typical for the time and libraries were just sort of stuck in any place that had some room. The very first permanent library in Knightsville was built in 1959, a little brick building that is unassuming but very functional and has a lot more inside than you would think possible for it's size. A great example of how space can be utilized, this little library just oozes over with so many things to explore and examine. Nothing aesthetically that really stands out, the library has the good things that just can't be verbalized or expressed. It becomes very obvious that everything about this library is special every though nothing really stand out. This building was constructed by contributions in the name of Gerard Ruggieri. A great honor to have people love you enough to name a library after you. This library is a special little place that is so, so quiet and subtle. Nothing special about it at all. But I suspect the people that use this library know and appreciate just how wonderful a small, and very unassuming place can be. This review is dedicated to Alexandra S.
