After calling multiple roofing companies all around, Hans Peterson and his Wayland based Peterson Remodeling and Roofing company agreed to come out, on a Sunday for what was quickly escalating into an emergency situation here. He had initially explained that every company, including his own, was completely out straight for almost two weeks at that point, BUT, he'd be there. When he and his 4 man crew arrived, he explained to me every aspect of what they were to do, allaying my concerns regarding some horror stories some had mentioned to me involving some other, less skilled and experienced ice dam removal jobs. Not only did they get the job done relatively quickly, I was pretty impressed at the efficiency of this crew going from one section to the next, clearing the massive chunks of ice, all while carefully protecting the surrounding gardens my wife and I worked so hard over the years to plant and maintain! They covered and protected the external heat pump and even cleared all the gas and water line areas! Unexpected and highly appreciated. When all was said and done, I fully expected the price to be astronomical for the amount of folks involved, and the time they needed for our weird shaped, multi leveled roof etc, but was pleasantly suprised, once again, by the number. After, while cutting the check, he took the time to point out all the water damage issues that could go unseen, and made sure to stress the importance of the removal and replacement of insulation spots and electrical assessment. Needless to say, at this point, we knew we had found "our guy" to handle getting our house back into order. Turns out, those roofers were calling a substance rust that wasn't rust and I didn't need a fix at all! Jay Jr literally saved me $4k on the spot (with photo evidence and all) by pointing that out. I learned so much about our gutters and roofs from that first meeting, he was a wealth of knowledge. Right there, I knew he was our guy. I didn't need Jay to fix the slate anymore but since I was so impressed I happily hired him to do some gutter fixes we needed done and painting a small portion of flat rubber roof white. For the last five years we have been trying to get "one more year" out of the roof. When the vendor who cleans our gutters said we had a roofing section down to bare wood we became mobilized. On December 26th, using Google reviews, we called the first roofer presenting, Pinnacle Exteriors, (they had 20 five-star reviews and was from the neighboring town) Chris was over within about two hours that same day, had taken photos and was able to show us where the issues existed. We considered other roofers, some even recommended by close friends, but Chris stood out with his no nonsense, can do, we can fit it in during a break in the weather over the next two weeks, approach. Other roofers didn't seem to want the job. Chris considers this time of year in many ways optimal to be installing a roof. When a clear weather day approached with a 40 degrees forecast, Chris let me know that was the day. On Jan 23, 2024, a crew of nine arrived and completed both house and garage roof replacements in one day (7:30 am to 5:00 pm). Chris and his entire crew are very professional, knowledgeable and very easy to communicate with. They are real craftsmen taking extra care in all their work. Did you know, Chris is also a great carpenter! This year he was back for another big job and some smaller yet tedious jobs. We had him repair and cover all the exposed (and some rotted) exterior wood on our entire 1920 house. That included the wood window trim, soffits and trim around all the doors. It was a big job as we have a large multi family house. He replaced the house numbers, and also did some paint touch up. We also decided to have him replace four outside storm doors which also meant rewiring the doorbells or installing wireless doorbells. He also supplied and installed windows, including those hard to get to windows in the basement. He probably did more work that I don't even know about as he takes pride in his work and is meticulous.
