Relocated here from Dallas/Fort Worth and severely disappointed in the FOX Raleigh news station. The sound quality is terrible, they don't cover any national news, the anchors are rushed and hard to understand with their muttering, there's no music or sound effects. For the producer - I highly recommend you watch some of your peers broadcasts. DFW has great chemistry, lots of fun and is engaging with their audience covering local and national news. WRAL team doesn't have chemistry or engagement. WRAL feels like a show that would only be available to a prisoner. It's sad and depressing. read more

Should be demolished for modern news program. News is about who died every day in that nasally obnoxious voice. Nothing good, like a dooms day program. They don't reflect the nations local news programs. The anchors seem to hate the job and add nothing. Most other reviews are accurate. Amateurish for a capitol city. I don't recommend. My name is David Chisley, and I'm speaking out on behalf of my daughter, Desjane Chisley, about how WRAL completely mishandled her involvement in their coverage of the Star Bar shooting in Raleigh, NC. After the tragic incident, Desjane was approached by WRAL reporter Lora Lavigne, and she clearly stated that she did not want to be on camera or filmed in any way. Despite that, the WRAL camera woman put a camera in her face and filmed her anyway -- capturing partial footage of her body and then broadcasting it to the public. This is a direct violation of her request for anonymity. At a time when she was experiencing emotional distress, WRAL chose to exploit her vulnerability for a news segment. This was unethical, irresponsible, and flat-out wrong. When we followed up with WRAL, we spoke to a woman named Martha, who was extremely rude and dismissive. She made it clear she had no interest in resolving the issue respectfully and said, "I'll be waiting to hear from your lawyer," with a nasty attitude. This interaction only made it worse. We are now actively seeking legal representation to file a formal complaint and lawsuit for this clear breach of privacy, emotional distress, and media malpractice. To any attorneys or legal professionals who see this and are willing to take on the case: There is a real opportunity here for justice and compensation. If you were looking for an independent view of the news, it's not WRAL. They tell you "what they want you to know." They are one-sided, and tend to downplay the real world when it doesn't fit their narrative. Just review their website/ App. and compare to local ABC news. I really don't understand WRAL's unrelenting obsession to cover everything Chapel Hill. I didn't grow up here but for the first few years that I lived in the area I believed that they were located in CH and was surprised to learn that they are located in Raleigh, across the street from NCSU. I use the recent gun event in CH. Two of WrAl's local competitor's covered 8 or 9 other important stories in the same amount of time while Wral was rehashing the relatively uneventful bagel shop/gun story. of course the story was important but the tedium of the repetitive angles for this event is unnecessary. This is just the latest of many, many, many biased stories that Wral presents, almost daily and they should be "ashamed of themselves". read more

Most of the reviews seem to be about the broadcast content and news, and are politically motivated to be honest. I'm reviewing the actual facility. My wife and I were invited to attend their holiday tower lighting, which included a reception and tour. WRAL is one of the most technologically advanced TV stations in the country, and I believe the very first station to broadcast digitally. If you ever get the chance, it's interesting to see the studio and all of the technology it takes to run it. If you don't like content, don't watch it. It's that easy. read more

Unfortunately this news channel has gone downhill and decayed into a amateurish news channel over the last ten or so years. They're so obviously biased toward the political left its not even funny anymore. They used to focus on rural issues at least occasionally, but now you only get news stories from the urban areas. They ran off their only good meteorologist with wokeness and now they can't keep their radar online anymore due to "repairs" so the weather forecasts are very low quality now and fail to actually be accurate or keep people safe. read more

Once upon a time WRAL had an exceptional crew . They were entertaining and beloved I clearly recall Pam Sauslby reigning in Greg Fischer one stormy night as he went astray describing the Science of Weather when what we needed was the location of the next Tornado strike . As these beloved people left / were discharged WRAL went through a series of anchors, trying to appeal to this or that demographic . One particularly " Yankee" anchor stood out like a flask of Brandy at a Baptist wedding . Two issues made me finally give up on WRAL. One is seeing Debra not being treated with respect by her co-anchor. It saddens me when she is spoken to in a brusque manner. The other is an un-named young reporter who does not seem to have the capacity to verbalize the News free of his political biases . If I wanted to review the News that way I would listen to " Talk Radio" Now I tune into either 11 or 17 where the anchors appear to have a true camaraderie and, unlike WRAL, the political biases of the reporters do not overtly influence the content of their reports . read more

Used to be my favorite station for local news and weather. Lately they cannot predict the weather. I'm tired of washing the car based on their prediction of no rain and then having it rain within 8 hours. I hate when they tease you about the weather only to say we will tell you later in the show. The Television Station is my favorite for news, weather, sports in the Triangle. The gardens surrounding the Capital Broadcasting Station are wonderful. Touring the TV station is a lot of fun to see behind the scenes. Great ! read more

I have lived in Wake Co. for over 10 yrs. I have watched WRAL for my entire residency in Wake Co.. I have to say after the past 2-3 yrs their political motivation has become first and foremost in their reporting despite their awkward FOX, and NBC affiliation. The Weather and local news is top notch and reliable. I'm rating WRAL now based upon their Facts not Fear segments concerning the Corona Virus. Until this issue I would of given this broadcaster a solid 4 out of 5 for accuracy. The Facts not Fear segments they are currently running are filled with fear mongering not supported by the World leaders in their fields. Continually twisting words to those interviewed about, the words that were actually said by the World leaders on the subject. Disgraceful, dishonest, and I look for actions to silence the fear mongers within the WRAL producers/management, that are propagating political bias to instill fear among this worldwide pandemic. read more

I don't understand why they insist on interrupting all those wonderful commercials with those annoying little snippets of news. Wouldn't it be easier to just run an hour long loop of straight commercials. Then we wouldn't be confused with trying to figure out the rest of each incomplete snippet. As a hopeless news junkie, I usually fall back on WRAL for local news that I can't get from CNN, BBC, or NPR. I do think WRAL offers pretty good local coverage, although I usually don't bother watching past the first 10 or 15 minutes of the broadcasts. I find their special interest features to be lacking, but then again they have to appeal to a pretty broad viewership. It seems to me that WRAL manages to be the first local news station to report on any local breaking news, and that's the main reason that I tune in. I also frequent their website, which is pretty well organized except for the fact that you have to scroll down the page to get some of the slightly older major news stories. read more

This is the station we've settled on for local news. For foodies, one of the interesting things they do is highlight some of the best and worst performing area restaurants from the health department inspections. I don't think they do this every night, but I know they have this segment on Fridays (and it's also on their web site in case you miss it). It provides an interesting perspective on choosing a place to eat ;-) It always seems like one or more hole-in-the-wall Mexican places and a Chinese buffet are on the dirty list! read more

I've watched WRAL since the early 1960's. They have always been a good station ffor news & programming. I remember many times, watching the late movie, then seeing signoff & the National Anthem. Dave Collins narrated the late show, also did Dialing for Dollars some afternoons. Charlie Gaddy was news anchor for many years. read more

My wife and I watch this station daily, and usually find it very informative. Being a minority couple, we have come to expect this station - along with many others, to do careful editing of any news that have "color" to them. However, we were really surprised today, to hear of the Pope's visit to the shrine of "Brazil's patron saint" -- why is the station afraid to say that this shrine is to "The Black Mary"? read more

l have a 73 yr old mother who is not able to go and sit and watch the Raleigh Christmas parade( we are from Benson) so we opt to sit home and watch on tv, my daughter and friends were a part of the Stampede of Love this year and the camera only chose to video one person and not the rest of the group...I can only say I am very disappointed and heartsick that I could not see my family and friends and their beautiful Mini horses, not even a glimpse. read more
