Wherever you are in Ohio, chances are you'll be able to pick up The Word. This frequency reaches 80 of our state's 88 counties. Not bad, huh. Unfortunately, though, due to FCC regulations, WRFD has to discontinue their daily broadcast at dusk, because it interferes with WABC out of New York City. Wow! Now that's some reach! I'd much rather hear the programming on WRFD than the news and traffic out of the Big Apple! WRFD is one of the last stations in the Columbus market to offer the Word of God in an exclusive "Talk Only" format, i.e., without any music. Their schedule includes some of the best preachers and radio hosts in the country like James Dobson, Charles Stanley, Chuck Swindoll and John MacArthur. WRFD also features some of the best local Christian leaders. During your afternoon drive, you'll hear "Bob Burney Live". Bob is an award-winning local talk show host who never minces the truth as it relates to current events. On the weekends, you'll hear local hosts share their expertise in a myriad of professions from finances to medicine. One thing is for sure - you won't find any charlatans on this frequency. I even have this radio station on at work too. AND I have it saved on a button in my car too. Growing up in a roller rink for 20 some years of my life, attending a top ten design college and having the "gay ear" -needless to say my music collection/taste is rather diverse yet weird at the same time. I pretty much listen to pop, rock, hair bands...well, you name it I have it. A lot of the songs the Brew plays either reminds me of certain moments of my childhood back in the rink or riding in the car with my mother as a kid whom seldom had the radio on in the car but when she did it was Diana Ross, Mamas and the Papas, Phil Collins, The Supremes, etc. I like the diverse aspect of their station and I will continue to be a listener when the iPod isn't going with some electro music.

No more Al Franken and "Air America" here - thank God & good riddance! Since this transition, WYTS has added one of the greatest talk show hosts in America to the Columbus airwaves - Michael Savage. I used to listen to The Savage Nation when I worked up in the Akron market and was hoping for the day when this show would air in Columbus. That day has finally come! You can listen to Michael from 6-10pm. So shut off your TVs and tune in tonight! If you think Rush Limbaugh is radical, wait 'til you hear Mr. Savage! Another WYTS winning lineup is the Quinn & Rose Show which airs daily from 6-9am. Jim Quinn is quite simply a political genius and Rose is smart and sassy just the way I like my women! You'll love this show if you're seeking the truth about our political landscape. Another favorite of mine is Laura Ingraham. This lady is my kind of feminist! She knows what she's talking about. Her show airs daily from 9am-12pm. You'll also see her on FOX NEWS quite frequently. I'm not a huge Bill O'Reilly fan. He's too much of a liberal for me. Jim Rome (who covers sports) is harmless yet annoying. Dave Ramsey is a good egg. He provides the expertise needed today for America's personal financial issues. I don't listen to Bohannon much, but when I do, I'm entertained. Don't forget Cigar Dave on the weekends. He knows his stogies! 1230AM is the place for good, solid, intelligent talk radio. Some of the CWs other shows are cheesy but embarrassingly addicting like Beauty and the Geek and America's Next Top Model. You know you've wasted entire days watching model marathons! I really like the CW though. They are committed to the green movement, which is a great example since they're driving the media in Columbus. They give young talent an opportunity to gain experience by offering one position as the CW star each year. They're at almost every good-cause event in the city. They offer perks to viewers through a slurry of contests. And their brand is recognizable - how can you think of anything other than the CW when you see chartreuse? The CW audience is probably pre-teen to teen age, but even my mom watches some of their shows.

I don't consider myself in their…read moredemographic so I didn't think that neither the publication nor their events would hold my interest. But somehow I ended up on their events email list and saw a breakfast meeting that I thought I would attend. I didn't sign up because I thought it sounded interesting I only signed up because I thought that I might be able to drum up some more business for my agency and clients. From the description of the meeting it sounded like they were just going to try and sell us subscriptions to the paper. But I thought I could sit through an hours sales pitch for the sake of networking. Wow was I proved wrong. The meeting was actually quite helpful and I'm now left with a new respect for the paper and it can help me do my work better. I've read it cover to cover twice now (and I feel another read through coming) and it is well written, relevant to the Columbus market, and something that I can now see myself reading weekly. And at $2 an issue (less expensive subscriptions are available) it's affordable enough that getting quality news won't break the bank. Not only did I learn a ton, but I walked out of there with meetings set up with 5 potential new clients and a lunch meeting to go over story ideas for my clients with one of the reporters. Win - win!

Other than glossy photos and few write-ups on Columbus night spots this magazine serves as the…read morejournal for The Columbus Young Professional's Club. That said, subscribe and keep it on your desk at work or read in front of your coworkers to let everyone know that you are a professional and take your job serious! No matter what you do for work this 30 something club has a lot to offer. If you still can't function without your college club, team, sorority or fraternity this group can fill that void. They play sports, take trips, compete in scavenger hunts, participate in walk-a-thons...etc. Or in my case if you like free drinks and a night out to meet other c-bus socialites join the club!

I started reading C-BUS Magazine with their Fall 2006 Dining Issue and thought I had found a great…read morelocal magazine that dealt mostly in restaurant reviews. And while every issue has had some kind of local food review, each issue seems to focus more and more on Young Professionals in Columbus. I am young, but I am in no way a professional and I feel increasingly alienated from this publication. I'll still pick it up to enjoy reviews, but I am certainly not in their designated demographic.
