The downside is that they don't always have the most convenient hours for someone with a busy life. They usually have some fun local items, including a pretty good amount of University of Kentucky paraphernalia. An added bonus of this hardware spot is that the Lone Oak area post office is in the store. You can mail packages, buy stamps, that kind of stuff.

I mainly come to Ollie's for comics. I was surprised to see that they had so few. I later went to a new location in Orlando and found the same situation. I guess that's normal for a brand new Ollie's. I still managed to make a few good finds, and the rest of the store was like any other Ollie's. Worth coming to every once in a while to see what closeouts they have. I expect the comics will be more full after a few shipments.

I've been to Lowe's stores all over the country. Some stores have the most knowledgeable employees…read moreand others not so much. This store seems to lack some of the basic courtesies such as customer suport and a basic ability to communicate politely to a paying customer. Not all employees, but the one's that can't, really can't. I blame management. My poor experiences here are not limited to today's visit. Unfortunately, it happens fairly regularly. Today, I asked for help with a product. The employee held a finger up to gesture to wait (they were alone and looking at their phone) and never helped me. I got to the checkout line and saw the manager. Once again, chatting with 3 or 4 employees, while people waited in line at the only 2 registers open, as he usually does. After my items were scanned, I asked to apply for a discount, one freely offered, but never able to use because no one in the store seems to know how to process it (this is my 3rd or 4th time asking for it). I found myself at the same impasse as usual. The checker did not know how to ring it up. However, I stood there this time ready to wait for them to learn how. The checker didn't bother to stick around to learn it and I passed me off the "Sharon M" who was too busy to communicate with me in any manner other than to say the "system" was giving her trouble 6 or 7 minutes into the process. Finally, she asked for my email. I asked why she needed it and she said "the system" needed it. I said I didn't want to give it and she threw her hands up, sarcastically stated she "could not help me" and "here's your card back." The tab is $400.00 of a potential sale and poor "Sharon m" can't seem to regulate her emotions, sarcasm or keep a sale. I asked for the manager. I would have let this go, I understand this Lowe's has a customer service problem, but I never got to see the manager. Another employee came by, I guess, posing as the manager although, she never acknowledged either way. She was able to process the discount and sale, but never acknowledged my complaint of rude customer service. So, they lose my business. I can order most of their inventory on line with their competitors and never have to deal with rude employees. Unfortunately, another business loses local money due to a lack of competent, customer service and no incentive for loyalty.

But today, I felt an employee was lurking, watching me look through the racks and I was uncomfortable. A piece of clothing had fallen to the floor near me, that I don't think I dislodged. The employee came right up near me, and hung it back up. I apologized despite not being sure I had done it. They said nothing back me, just gave me a dirty look. At that point I put back the shirt I was planning to pay cash for, and walked away. I glanced over my shoulder and they had already snatched up the shirt and moved it back to what I guess was a better spot. I just smiled as the person glared. They were willing to discuss which flowers and combinations they had available and coordinate their availability with my wishes without any trouble- this is rare these days! Most florists just slap together whatever they have with little to no regard to your requests and will get attitude if you are specific, but the staff here was congenial and even verified the funeral arrangements and the flowers they had available before we committed.
