This was my first time being a patient at the WV Eye Consultants office. The building was clean and organized, but it was the only positive I could find. Staff were not warm or welcoming, but cold and uninterested. My appointment took well over an hour with plenty of waiting in between. I told them what contacts I wear and that I like them and they decided to put me in different contacts without even asking if I was interested. I'm glad I only need to visit once a year because this is not a pleasant experience. read more

Waiting room packed. We got up early to arrive on time, drove two hours, and we have been here for a hour and a half.

I was supposed to have cataract surgery in January, but ended up getting heart stents. I was released in March by my cartologist to have the surgery. They told me that it was their policy for me to wait six months even though I had been released in March. They called yesterday and wanted me to come in for another evaluation so that they can get paid for two evaluations. They can't get me an appointment until September. I didn't know that an eye surgeon knows more than a cartologist. If I would take the appointment in September it probably would be another three to four months to get the surgery and by that time they probably would want another evaluation. They have a good racket going to get double paid. I wouldn't recommend anyone to go there. read more

Poor appointment scheduling. If you have an appt for 10:45, you would be lucky if you got in before noon. The sign in the lobby that says to bring to their attention if you wait time goes past 15 minutes of your appointment, obviously some type of joke. read more

Arrived for my appointment at 8am, 2 staff members at the front desk, greeted and asked me to fill out paperwork. Both ladies were in conversation about office matters. R. asked for my license and insurance information. She held out her hand, no eye contact. Another staff member took me in the back for eye tests. Unfriendly and seemed irritated and annoyed that I wasn't able to position my head on the eye machine. She took me to another room and was asking information about why I was there. Informed her I had cataract surgery on my left eye and might need surgery for my right eye. She looked at my paperwork and told me my insurance would not cover for my surgery. I became very uncomfortable and somewhat insulted. I didn't know that a staff member could make that determination. I became upset and left the room, she followed me to the front desk. I left the office without seeing Dr Watkus. Very disappointed with this office and the front desk. read more

As a former trainee, I would like to share I was let go from WV Eye Consultants yesterday after 1 month. My trainning which was in Charleston was cut short and I was sent to the Beckley office. The trainer there, was far from a trainer. I was a burden to her. She would disappear for 30 to 40 minutes at a time. She constantly spoke negative of me to the Department manager. She also spoke badly of me right in front of me in the lunchroom. I received an email from my COO last Monday I would be getting my picture taken for the directory that day. She also emailed me and set up a date of yesterday the same day I was let go to go over benefits, which never happened. Ya see right before this I HAD to have two days off, I come back and was let go, the so called trainer I had, told the department manager there was no positive feedback, WOW! Also I did not retain the info. Just a side note I sprain my ankle in two different places and Medexpress had stated I had to go to the dr for further treatment. I did not go as recommended so I would not have to miss Work. The trainer really should not talk badly about the department manager on a daily basis. I also mentioned to the billing manager during our phone interview I had a week off preplanned and asked if it would be a problem, she said no it would not. I NEVER PURSUED THIS WEEK. I asked for 2 days. There are other trainees right now that have had to already miss. I should have had very positive feedback, I am the winner, how low and pathetic. I tried to contact the COO and of course that didn't happen. I WOULD THINK SHE WOULD ASK ABOUT MY TRAINING HERSELF, I WOULD THINK SHE WOULD ASK WHY I NEEDED 2 DAYS OFF, maybe SHE should have asked me not to take them off. This place has very poor manager, department manager and the person that was supposed to train me in Beckley, I have no words for on here. I DO NOT RECOMMEND APPLYING TO ANY JOB HERE, since it is operated as such I do not recommend being a patient here. read more
