There is also a basketball court, a paved walking path that has a StoryWalk, and a little structure with picnic tables and vending machines. There's a small playground available, with slides, climbing, and traditional swings. It is located very close to the parking lot (between the baseball diamond and parking), so that's something to be aware of. It is located very near Wyman Woods, which has the larger playground, but it's a great option if you're already attending a sports event here and have kids who need some entertainment.

It also has a playground with modern equipment. There's a running and walking trail. I think it's better to come when kids are in school or before they get out. It's not a big park and it can be crowded. The baseball diamond is usually crowded in the summer with all the little league then, and other times it's amateur softball players. It also has a basketball court and soccer field. There's a path around the park. I think it's a good park for Grandview. It's located across the street from Wyman Woods Park, so this is a good area to go outside. The streets are kind of busy so be aware of this.

On a pretty typical for the area triangle, it is quiet except for traffic, well-kept, and a fitting place for a memorial. There is a statue, and some memorial stones. Lots of pluses at this park. First, if you're traveling with a dog and staying at the nearby Hampton Inn, this is your "go-to" destination for dog walks. Second, it has a pretty pond on the north side of the park with an elephant column and winding pathways around the center. Third, if you like jogging, I would suggest running along the perimeter of the park (some inner paths are narrow) to admire the historic Victorian homes surrounding the park. One downside is that I did see a homeless man sleeping on the ground in the middle of the park early on a weekday morning. He was not bothering anyone, but it made me think about what options for affordable housing and social services are available in Columbus.

There are a myriad of picnic tables and benches between the sports fields and the playground. A real bonus is all of the terrific trees providing a lot of comfortable shade all around. A parking lot is available here. The larger playground is located sort of caddy corner down the street at Wyman Woods, but this was much less crowded and part of it was shaded, so those were some nice perks on a hot summer day!

Baseball field is adjacent to the west of the playground as well as a couple fenced tennis courts. There is really something else cool nearby - a community garden, which began its life as a Victory Garden during the Second World War - residents apply for and garden plots beginning every spring. Back to McKinley Field: The playground is frequently visited during the day by families and their children and the adjacent parking lot by city workers who want some place to relax and eat their food for lunch. It's a very serene place with a beautiful canopy of trees, green, and so calming. Just the right spot and a only few minutes drive to get away from the hustle and bustle of a downtown Columbus workday.

And automatically the statutory evokes a theme of education and reading in particular. Nearby this spot used to stand the original Wendy's restaurant. It closed in 2007. The founder Dave Thomas was a huge advocate of literacy programming. He did not graduate from high school until 1993, when he received a GED. he was also an adoption advocate. Dave was a great humanitarian. I always think of him when I am here. This is a great place to contemplate life and what important noble achievements are really about.

It also happens to be close to the very first location of fast food chain, Wendy's. Hah, what are the odds? The plaque near the garden, behind the statue of children and giant letters, explains that the park is there to honor Ohio's educators, the teachers, public schools, colleges, and universities. I'm not exactly sure who made this statue but it's a nice little nook of downtown. I only noticed it walking by. It caught my attention right away and created a moment where I was able to pause and think and reflect. Love finding hidden gems of the city like this!

There is a lot for kids to choose from - in addition to familiar favorites like swings and slides, there are a lot of exciting and challenging climbing options, interactive music and visual activities (like creating your own optical illusion or putting together a sliding puzzle). There are also unique variations of things like the two person swings, a rope bridge and spiderweb, and more. There are a number of benches and picnic benches nearby. Further off, in a grassy area, is a large first come first serve gazebo, and the small woods behind the playground contain a creek and a fun little trail with two bridges for kids to run around. Currently part of the field is off limits due to new grass seed - if you follow the sidewalks you'll be able to access the playground easily. The area is very walkable or you can use street parking/the small lot behind the library.

This isn't about the park itself, it's about Tremont Pool, the public pool located by the park…read more I went with my friends almost everyday during the summer, everything was great, the prices were a bit extreme and it racked up quickly. However it soon proved to me that it's not even worth the money. The last time I went, I took my 6 year old little brother. Along with my older brother, his girlfriend and her daughter who was 2. A whole mess of things happened, and I was left with the children, which I was okay with, however problems happened with the 2 year old, and I had to get out, leaving my little brother in close eyes view, in the kiddie pool. I turn my back for 2 seconds and he's vanished. From what he said after, he was trying to swim out to our older brother, and started drowning. I saw this and immediately jumped in the 4ft of water, to save my little brother, mind you he was directly in front of 2 lifeguards, who weren't paying any attention what so ever. I did make a comment, a rude one, because this is their job. Yes leaving him unattended wasn't the responsible thing to do, but that is exactly what the lifeguards are there for. I took him out of the water, and got him relaxed, then walked over to tell my brother and his girlfriend what happened, also asking them to go grab the toy that some other family had stole from us, and in the corner of my eye I see the same lifeguards in the corner, laughing at me. This didn't bother me any, but it's the blatant disrespect this pool has shown, especially to a 6 year old. I reported this behavior, and the situation to the manager, who was also extremely careless. He was at least professional, and said he would talk to the lifeguards, but that truly isn't good enough. Being a lifeguard isn't just about spending all summer at the pool, you are there to try and save lives. We need to stop hiring disrespectful, incompetent teenagers.

Great park! Lots to do!…read more We visited this park one afternoon and it was a hot day! The playground structures are large and inviting. There are several different types of activities to do, including a scavenger hunt for little animals all over the play area. There are just a few entrances to the play area so you don't need to worry as much about little ones running off before you can catch them! There is even some shade nearby to spend a few minutes out of the sun on a hot day. The library next door has a bathroom, so you really don't need anything more!
