Well I never want to write a bad review but unfortunately I felt compelled after my recent experience. My regular lash gal was out of town so I booked an appointment with Christy after reading great reviews. I called and told her I have partial lashes since my lady is out of town and I needed a fill in. I asked her price and she said she would not charge me more than $75. I thought that seemed fair so I booked the appointment. The first thing I was thrown off by was the fact that when I pulled up for my appointment it appeared as if she was leaving with a friend to get lunch and apparently me being on time stopped her plan! I wonder if I came a few minutes later if she would have made me wait?? Not a good first impression. When she finally had me lay down to start....she kept commenting on how crappy my normal lash lady's job was. She kept saying how terrible my lashes were. She determined that she would remove them and put a full set. After doing my lashes she said she needed to charge me $125!!! WTF!! I understand she did a removal but she assured me when I made my appointment that she wouldn't charge more than $75 and she certainly could have asked my approval of wanting to charge me more BEFORE starting the work!! I felt obligated to pay but I was not happy she increased the price AFTER she finished. Initially the lashes looked fine but by the second day most had already fallen off!!! This has never happened before and I have had my lashes done for over 10 years!! It was too late to get back in before my weekend vacation so I just had to deal with big gaps in my lashes. On the next Tuesday I called her to tell her the lashes fell off and she said that several other customers said the same thing so she thinks the glue had gone bad. She accommodated me by booking me with Mellisa since she was booked and said she wouldn't charge for fixing them. (Well obviously!!) Mellisa is super sweet and did a great job and took extra time giving me a full look. I enjoyed conversation with Mellissa while getting my lashes done (she is super sweet). Here was where it turned AGAIN....as I was laying there Christy was working on another client and openly started commenting about how terrible my lashes were before she did them. She said "remember the pictures I showed you (Melissa) of how bad they were!!! Who the hell does that and disses the customers choice in lash service especially while other clients are in the room???!!!!! That is not only rude but extremely unprofessional!! As much as I love Melissa's personality and work I will not be going back. P.S even after the second attempt at fixing my lashes once again they fell off after only 5 days. It is day 5 and I only have about 40% left!!! I am gentle with my lashes and they normally last at least 12 days at 80%. Maybe she needs to use a different glue company. Two stars for Mellissa sweet personality and full lash fix. Minus three for unprofessionalism and the lashes not lasting UPDATE****PICTURES ARE AFTER JUST 11 DAYS!!!! When I decided to get extensions in January of this year, I went to a local lash franchise. Not knowing any better, I went several times, lashes didn't last long, looked like spider legs after a week. Determined it was my fault, not caring for them properly per the salon (I did all they told me to do), I was about to give up. Wanted to have them filled on a Sunday and my place was closed. Kerry is the best eyelash person ever! She is the 9th eyelash person I have seen, and definitely the top one. What makes her stand out? 1. The quality of her work -- her lashes last longer than anyone else. 2. She alternates the size of the lashes to make it look more natural. Most people just do one size for all the lashes. 3. So happy that I found this place. I called Kerry wanting to get my lashes done as soon as possible. She was able to work around my schedule and squeezed me in. She followed up with me and was very helpful. I had bad experiences in the past with other eyelash extension places where the glue was hurting my eyes. Kerry Barstad did an amazing job on my very new set of lash extensions! I was a little nervous at first but after spending time with me to go over all of my options and looking a pictures of typical results, I settled on the 3-D mink lash extensions. They give me that full defining look that I was going for somewhere in between natural & Glam! The biggest benefit is that they feel so natural and I haven't needed to use any eye makeup! She was polite and professional, she told me what she thought would work best for my lashes and she was right; they turned out AMAZING! I love that she is located in Alamo; there is front row parking, the whole thing was easy peasy!!! She didn't try and up-sale me; she even told me she was running a special and gave me $25 off her regular price, which wasn't mentioned on her website! I purchased their full set of eyelash extensions, per their written groupon profile and also their website which states "my staff and I have been licensed Estheticians for several years"....."we have all put in many years at several different salons". So based on this, I believed it was a professional and trustworthy salon......that was not true in my case......first of all, the State of California requires only licensed cosmetologists or estheticians should be applying lashes. When I arrived on time for my 11am appointment, the woman that greeted me said my "esthetician" was running late.....she arrived 15 minutes later..... I've had extensions in the past, long story short, the process takes 1 to 1 1/2 hours....this person worked on me for almost three hours......at the end of the service, I asked how long she'd been an esthetician, her reply was that she was planning on going to beauty college for her cosmetology license, and she's been doing lashes for about three months, her mom was training her. I'm pretty upset, their website is misleading, I was personally lied to when I arrived, having been told my "esthetician" was running late.....the person working on me was NOT LICENSED....it took close to three hours and these new lashes are sparse, there are no lashes applied to inner or outer corners of my eyes and when I got home several had fallen out......BAD....BAD.....BAD!! read more
