I was very fortunate to have my hip replacement performed by Dr.Xenos. He was the head of osteopedic surgery at Walter Reed in DC and he has replaced thousands of hips. On April 7, 2023 I was referred to Colorado Orthopedics' for a broken Humerus and I saw Dr. Scott Koenig (an Intern). They had received xrays from the ER but did not redo any xrays at this visit. Dr. Koenig is very young and was not very specific on the treatment for a broken Humerus. I felt very uncomfortable so I scheduled a follow up appointment to specifically see Dr. John Xenos for proper diagnosis and treatment plan - this appointment was on April 13, 2023. When I got there they did do their own xrays in which the Xray Technician told me I had shatter my entire shoulder (I did not shatter my shoulder - it's called arthritis! Xray Technicians are never allow to tell you findings. When I was put into a room it was young Dr. Koenig again and he told me that Dr. Xenos will not be seeing me as he was out of town. I would of never reschedule an appointment a week later to see a Doctor that was an intern that I was not comfortable with. I have paid all my bills with CO Orthopaedic except for the last one that was on April 13, 2023 and I mentioned I was not going to pay for this incompetent visit. I have now been sent to COLLECTIONS for $99.95. I will be filing a complaint with the Department of Regulatory Agency of Colorado (DORA) against both Dr. Koenig and Dr. Xnex and office. I can't say enough about Dr Xenos and his staff...they are amazing!! We are treated like family and always walk away with all concerns and questions answered. He is an exceptional surgeon and goes the extra mile. He did a knee replacement on my husband which was successful, however, my husband was still having some pain and unable to walk without a cane/walker. Dr Xenos was convinced my husband's pain was related to his lower back. He suggested an MRI and visit with his partner Dr. Madsen, who is also amazing. I can't praise Doctor Xenos enough. He and his staff are awesome. I've seen the top 10 ortho docs in Metro area and had 2 TKR and a revision. 2 surgeries were painfully unsuccessful and Doctor Xenos was the first to see what the problem was, come up with a course of action and perform a successful TKR. Don't go to this guy. The two times I went to see him I waited 11/2 hours and over two hours. His staff says he makes them schedule that way...then when you mention it to him, he blames his staff. Unfortunately I referred a friend to him, and she had the same experience. If you're retired and I have nothing better to do than wait 2 hours for a 15 min appt., then sure, go to him...but my time is just as important his, and I don't appreciate being disrespected like that. read more

Dr. Xenos and staff are phenomenal. I switched to him after originally scheduling surgery with a different hip/FAI specialist for arthroscopic surgery to repair a labral tear and fix cam and pincer issues, and am so glad I did. He is top-notch, genuine, caring, compassionate, and just one week post surgery, I'm in less pain than I'd been dealing with for over a year. I first met Dr Xenos and team in June 2014 when we discussed the need for a hip replacement due to arthritis. Because of insurance mandates, I had to do physical therapy 1st before they would approve the surgery. Dr. Xenos and team are very professional, caring and they made sure I understood all my options and what to expect. I just had my hip replacement a few weeks ago and everything went really well. Dr.Xenos and team were terrific and I feel great! The office staff is great too. They took care of all the insurance paperwork; setting appointments and I never had to wait. I am a Medicare/Tricare for Life patient, 72 years old. Dr Xenos did a total knee replacement on me and I have had absolutely no problems. He recommended a physical therapist near me and I did therapy as advised and I no longer have pain in my knee. I can get down on my knees now and I can walk rapidly again. I no longer need any kind of pain medication, even motrin, even after long days on my feet. Everyone in the office was great from the front desk to X-ray to the PAs and Dr Xenos and his assistants. DON'T USE DR XENOS!!! We were treated by Dr Xenos over a period of almost two years. Over this time, he performed two shoulder surgeries, many office visits and prescribed countless rehab sessions. Dr Xenos also had us take several MRI's, x-rays, EMG, and other tests that not only very expensive, but turned out unnecessary. After two years of treatment, we are no better off than when we started. We finally decided to find a different doctor and have yet have a third surgery to finally fix my shoulder. My new doctor has admitted that Dr Xenos did a very poor job on my shoulder and he didn't understand why. This all started in mid-2018 with an initial surgery to fix frozen shoulder, bicep tendon, and some impingement. After the first surgery Dr Xenos admitted that he probably should have done more and that we might have to come in for a second surgery. This was told to my husband directly after surgery to our surprise. Why not just take care of everything while he was performing surgery the first time? We can speculate why, he had at least 6 other surgeries scheduled back to back that day. The next day we were scheduled to come into his office to evaluate my shoulder. I was still recovering from surgery and feeling very nauseous and was in extreme pain. They had me sit in the waiting room for over 2 hours past my scheduled time to finally see me. This became a common occurrence for every appointment I had with this office for over two years. They never were on time and didn't seem to really care about it. I was excited when I was seen 45 min late, because the norm was over an hour late. Dr Xenos performed a second surgery in Dec 2018 and again the same result. Poor service in the office, and no resolution to my shoulder. I have dealt with pain, two surgeries, countless office visits, countless rehab sessions, and thousand of dollars to repair my shoulder with Dr Xenos. All of this for nothing. I'd give this practice and Dr. Xenos a 0 if I could. I waited for an hour and 10 minutes to be put in a room for another 20 minute. 90 minutes of my times and they're charging me for this?! I complained and was told by staff and the doctor that this is very normal and they always over book. Please don't visit here. As for the doctor, he couldn't have been less helpful. DIsmissed what other surgeons told me and really wasn't interested in my case. I told my PT to NEVER recommend him to patients any longer, and she won't. I hate leaving bad reviews, but be warned if you still plan to visit. read more

It is difficult to put into words how terrific Dr Xenos and his staff are. Dr Xenos did a full left and right leg knee replacement. Surgeries were done in 2015 and 2017. Post surgery I would describe as discomfort but no serious pain. The physical therapy went extremely well with recovery mush faster than normal according to my physical therapist. He said this was normal for patients of Dr Xenos. He seems to never be rushed during an appointment, truly pleasant and professional in every respect. I drove down from Fort Collins to see this doc and the whole experience was a disaster. I waited for an hour and half and then finally just left! As I checked in I should have know because there was a person scheduled 10 minutes before me with Dr. Xenos. Really you are scheduling patients 10 minutes apart?!? I need surgery and I get ten minutes...no thanks. As I waited for over an hour there were no updates from the doctor or his staff. When I asked the front desk help, they acted as if I was unreasonable for expecting to be seen quicker than an hour and 15 min. What's the point of making an appointment if you get ignored and are asked to wait this long? I would NEVER recommend this practice to anyone, ever! read more

Dr. Xenos did my total knee replacement in Oct. 2014. I am very pleased with the outcome. He is the most compassionate doctor I've ever been to! From the first visit to my post-op visits, he has always been able to put me at ease, answer all my questions and concerns, and provide me with the quality care. Yes, the wait time is often long, but once in the exam room Dr. Xenos spends as much time with you as needed to assure you get answers and are satisfied. Dr. Xenos is by far the best orthopedist in the Denver area. He just replaced my right hip. Two years ago, he replaced my left. He changed my life. The pain from my hips was debilitating.
