While the pricing is great, I wanted to compare both the rate and the coverage. I emailed 5 different insurance companies and 4 of them immediately said "we'll get you the same policy for the same money" but only ONE came back to me and said you are not being covered properly and there's conflicting info in the underwriting language. That firm was none other than Coastal Insurance (see attached email). While their policy came back to be $200 more, but their policy also offers substantially more coverage. I would've rather pay the extra money than to leave myself exposed to a potential loss and claim denial b/c I didn't read the fine print. In a society where speed and cheap trumps service and common sense, it's refreshing to see a company that is thorough and didn't "sell me on price and price alone." Just an FYI, they also have an affiliate that provide tax grievance service and have saved me thousands of dollars with my commercial and residential properties.

Working with this team--especially Elena and Katelyn--has been an absolute nightmare of disorganization and empty promises. I was initially told by Katelyn that everything would be sorted out within a month, only for her to leave the office and leave all of my paperwork completely disregarded. When I followed up, I discovered they lied about uploading my documents; claims representatives on the phone confirmed the forms were never even sent in. To make matters worse, the financial incompetence is baffling. I was somehow overcharged over $1,000 for a $187 policy, and when I asked for an explanation, nobody in the office could provide an answer or account for where the money went. When disaster actually struck and I had a leak in my apartment that completely destroyed my couch, computer, and iPad, this office told me I couldn't even file a claim. What kind of insurance company takes your money and then tells you that standard property damage isn't covered? What am I even paying for? Elena and the rest of the staff are completely incapable of handling basic responsibilities. I went for insurance and without even asking me if I had the money to cover the premium Hillary at Lighthouse signed me up for a loan with Capital Payment Plan. She couldn't even tell me who my insurance carrier was because she put me in an "assigned risk" category so she could offer me a cheaper rate. If you look on their desks they have foot tall piles of invoices for Capital Payment Plan and they also have mugs and desk decorations with that logo as well. When I tried to cancel she told me it was done but it wasn't and they kept billing me. It took 3 months of calls and emails to fix it. They are taking advantage of innocent people who just aren't aware of how insurance brokers should work. When I questioned Hillary about it she tried to tell me this is just "how it works ". Lighthouse insurance is a broker. Call any other broker and ask if this is "how it works". It's not. They are scamming people. I lost about $700 dealing with them.

Matt Zaglin and the people in this office are real and genuinely polite. They go above and beyond the call of duty to make you feel like the most important person in their office. I accidentally found them while searching for car insurance. They offered the most affordable insurance I've paid for in over 30 years of owning cars.
