Extreme isn't for snow flakes that want the gym to cater to them... I've seen some reviews on people saying the free weights are a "mess" yea so is every other blue collar gym. Lifetime isn't that much more organized tbh...Mike is awesome, Sandy is awesome along with the receptionist Cindy. Jay is the man so are the other trainers and staff... don't be shy.. it's an mma gym testosterone is flowing through out the place... the staff is very welcoming and will wave and say hi to you from across the gym lol, be respectful ask questions they have class schedules printed out for weight classes and mma classes, your not limited to how many classes you can do a day, do all of them if you want. The gym is great the people are friendly the work outs are intense the price is very fair compared to how many classes they offer, they have messages Chiro... the ONLY thing that you have to get used to is the parking its shared with a couple other stores in the plaza and i got a parking ticket once... it is what it is. They have a big change room with like 4-5 showers a sauna if your not used to a loud environment it can be intimidating.. get used to it, nobody's watching you, we all train at the same gym at the end of the day the guys are cool. Its pretty clean but there's alot of traffic in the change room with all the classes going on, the cleaner is always doing something never see him just sitting around, he tries to organize disinfect the mats theres only so much you can do. Massive gym with every machine and bag you could possibly imagine. Staff is great too

If you've followed my love hate relationship with this gym you'll know that my fitness journey has not been without some turmoil - like any relationship. So why the bump up from a 1 star to 3 star? A couple of things: 1. I dropped the MMA portion of my membership and now focus solely on the free weights and cardio. It's not the best (weights always out of order and cardio machines down) but attempts are made to rectify the issues. AOK 2. Changes in staff/customer service. I'm finding they're taking a much more proactive approach to customer service, instead of giving you the run around they're much quicker and better at addressing customer concerns. The GM personally makes phone calls to address issues and the clubs owner is on hand every morning 3. Investment in personal training. I purchased a block of training a while back with Jahmal R. He's a great trainer and is involved with my training and goals and not just being on his phone like many of my previous trainers. This should show that any business can do better and deserves a second chance. I cannot say this is the best gym I've been too but it's. It the worst and they've kept me motivated to come regularly (3-5 times a week). read more

Dishonest marketing practices. Repeatedly they show deals ($99 for 3 months) - I requested this deal as listed on their large billboard out front, their two staff wrote me out a price breakdown. It came out to over $1,000! They added: sign up fee, the $99 fee for 3 months, and then a large per month fee for the mandatory other 9 months of sign up totally over 10 times what the billboard advertised. Sneaky, very sneaky. I attended Xtreme Couture for about a year for fitness and boxing. It was not the first time I had attended a boxing facility. I had been boxing for a while prior so I had experience, but wanted to try Xtreme Couture because I thought they had exceptional coaches. I thought wrong. In fact it was one of the worst experiences I had ever had with a boxing gym. I can not comment on the quality of the other combat sports they teach, but I can comment on the boxing and fitness. Both of which were terrible and over-priced. The fitness area frequently had equipment that did not work for long periods of time. A few weeks, usually. The boxing was abysmal. The "coaches" did not seem to be very knowledgeable of the sport. Often attempting to teach outrageous techniques to hide their lack of knowledge. None of them knew the rules of the sport, which is something that coaches should know. Training their boxers involved throwing them into a class, quite often mixed with beginners and doing repetitive drills, again likely to cover-up their lack of coaching abilities. Classes are for beginners. Competitive athletes need independent attention. I improved little while I was there. As a matter-of-fact, after finding a better coach, my new coach had to "fix" the damage that the Xtreme Couture coaches caused. In addition to all that, I had prepaid for 24 sessions of one-on-one coaching, which was useless, but they didn't honer all of them. They still owe me four sessions, totaling $300. I left because, despite the terrible coaching, I was removed from the team. Their excuse was that I had been "suspended", but after doing some research I discovered that it was not true. Therefore, cancelling my membership was not my fault and i should have had the $300 refunded. Overall, do not take up boxing at Xtreme Couture and definitely do not prepay for personal sessions. read more

A very big 33000 s.f. facility. Owned by the Ultimate fighting legend Randy Couture. It is great for people who just want to work out and for MMA fans. Professional UFC fighters are part of the traing staff. You can choose just to get a gym membership, or Gym + MMA training. The Gym membership is reasonably priced. The equipment is fantastic and brand new. The workout area is HUGE! Plenty of space to exercise. Special zones with tires and monkey latter. I haven't done any of the MMA portion so I can't comment on that. For the weight training area it is very dirty especially the back free weights area and where they put on the boot camp classes. The bathrooms are so old and shabby I haven't bothered to use them. The hand free weights are often missing and there is virtually no space to stretch after. Seriously? This PoS place actually has members? The martial arts here are watered down. Just plain and simple. there is no quality of anything here. The kids MMA is the same, it's more like a daycare for kids with a punch and a kick tossed in. I watched my daughter, she is 8 and tried the Muay thai class. While I know it's a kids class they didn't even teach her the stance, they showed her a few kicks and added some knees in but didnt stay on it till her or her partner got it down. If you want to use this place to lose weight or get in shape then join right up but make sure your kids mma is free or part of your monthly free. Do not let them charge you more for a additional child. they will just run around mainly not really learn anything, simply just a daycare for kids. If you are looking for professional MMA or other martial arts this is not the place you are looking for. Its really just a gathering place for people burning calories with poor and watered down martial arts who don't really care if they learn proper martial arts or not.. There are way better gyms out there. The only reason this place has a few members is because of the name and who owns it. It there was not someone like that backing it. I made a membership with this gym a long while ago and I remember I paid for it in advance. No one told me that there was a free trial they offer. Instead they were very pushy about obtaining my billing info. I came back to them to cancel my membership even though I hadn't attended the gym at all yet and the manager was very rude and not understanding in giving a refund/other options. I have had a great experience at this gym. I joined in May 2018 and have mainly used the gym but have also (to my surprise) enjoyed some of the MMA classes. Everyone is friendly and helpful. My personal trainer is amazing. This is the first gym I feel at home in. Not only am I reaping the benefits of exercise like weight loss but my confidence has gone through the roof. read more

BEWARE! Unscrupulous scam artists operating as a fitness club. Do not provide them with your credit card information. Along with many other members, I experienced unauthorized credit card charges periodically throughout the term of my membership and each time I would approach management regarding these issues they claimed that it was a glitch in their system. When my membership came up for renewal I cancelled and the gym kept charging my credit even after I had cancelled! I would not recommend this gym to anyone. First off: THIS GYM IS NOT OWNED OR ASSOCIATED TO "RANDY COUTURE" They just use Randy Couture's name on it. Second: Membership price is decent, but classes are complete crap. The barely have a martial arts class until the evening. They promise" Muay Thai, Kickboxing, Boxing(only two classes per week..lol). But good luck if you can't make it to the class at 6pm. I had to change my plans several times because they only offer one class of each per day. That means: today there will be a class of muay thai, but no kickboxing, tomorrow there is a class off kickboxing but no muay thai. Forget the mornings. They only offer Hot Yoga and one other aerobics class. If you like martial Arts esp Muay Thai: join "Krudar" on Spadina. Boy o boy are those guys determined. every instructor is built of pure muscle and flexibility. Xtreme Couture just sounds good, nothing else. p.s Don't waste your money if u enjoy martial arts classes. read more

I love coming in this neighbourhood gym because it is no frills and the cardio machines are never overtaken by a mob of cardio die-hards. There is space for me to do free weights and there is a great play area at the back where you can turn gigantic tires, handle mokey bars and punch your frustrations. If you are serious about fitness and just need a space to get your work-out done then this is the place for you. Did I also mention that you pay half the price of those "other" gyms? They are very good with pricing and always have promotions that are easy to take advantage. And if you are lucky you might even see some of the MMA fighters practice in the MMA area. I've been here in the past. It's way to pricey for what they offer. The machines are always out of order at times. The sales rep are all very pushy, and if your not into signup and only do the trial they seem to lose interest in you and your goals for training. I went to this gym a few years ago when my regular gym on islington closed down, it's ok but they only have a few ab machines.

I wish I had never joined this gym. The facility is horrible. Fixtures on walls not repaired just hanging there. Aerobic equipment old and falling apart. Bare bones concrete facility. Staff not friendly actually somewhat arrogant. For the price of 60.$ a month for a basic membership you can find much better gyms in the south etobicoke area.If you wish any other add +++ dollars. Incredibly disorganized business. I asked for a refund on October 26th, well within the 10 day trial cancellation period - at which the contract says the money should be refunded within 20 business days, presumably with no questions asked. After waiting very patiently, for more than "20 days", I decided to call and inquire. After playing phone tag with the manager, he calls me back and says the CHEQUE will be ready on Friday, December 8th after 5pm. Mind you, this is the 21st century, you would think they would deposit the refund back into your account. Anyway, I unfortunately was not able to pick it up on the Friday (life happens) but I went in on Saturday, and much to my disappointment found out that the cheque was not kept at the reception along with the bundle of other ones. The receptionist working that evening said this happens a lot, and to contact the manager on Monday. Monday comes, lo and behold he is not available, the receptionist I was speaking with was of no help at all, she said she will check my file and came back with the "I can take a message, and have him call you back." I would imagine a gym this size with "world class fighters, state of the art equipment, and fitness programs" is capable of training their reception/administrative staff to handle giving out, filing, simple book keeping, or holding onto cheques for customers accordingly. All I can say is to join with caution, read the fine print, ask questions, and do not get bullied by the sales staff. The timing wasn't right and I was more than keen on rejoining in the future but going through this experience has definitely put me off. read more

Facility: seems to have decent equipment, but the actual facility is only 'good enough' to serve its purpose... it's kind of crude and lacks things like a water fountain even. Classes: I took one BJJ class and the instruction was marginal at best. Worst point, why they get 1 star instead of 2 or 3: Signed up for the free trial week on the website (requires email address) and instantly started getting inundated by "enlargement" spam. Went from maybe one spam like that every 6 months, to now getting 6 or more every day. I work in IT and actually set up email servers, so I'm not leaping to conclusions... it was too sudden and dramatic to be a coincidence, they obviously sold my email address. The first such spam came about 20 minutes after filling out the form, so it must be automatically harvesting them. At best, their website has at least been hacked and the email addresses are being stolen if they're not actually being sold... either way DO NOT SIGN UP WITH AN EMAIL ADDRESS YOU CARE ABOUT. read more

I have many times had the thought of learning jiu jitsu cross my mind and it would float away as quickly as it came because I thought joining a gym is intimidating, never mind a MMA gym. I am a floral designer by trade, a fairly small 33 year old woman without any prior training, like zero other than my couch to 5k app. But I decided I would like to give jiu jitsu a try, it's fascinating and fluid and how cool would it be to have the bonus of something in your back pocket to protect yourself with if it came down to it. Also women MMA fighters are just awesome. The process began with a phone call, setting up an appointment to come check out the gym, so right away the first encounter, not scary. There is so much going on in the gym that when I went down there, I didn't feel like I stuck out, nobody stopped and starred at the new girl. I then met with Jay, a very friendly and approachable guy to do my assessment and advise me, like a guidance counsellor helping you plan your curriculum. In order to fast track my training, he set us (my husband and I) up with some no gi (the white jacket and pants) jiu jitsu personal training sessions. You're always matched up with a partner at the same level as you, so in our case that level being very much beginners we were able to partner up together. Even though my husband and I are very different sizes, in jiu jitsu that doesn't really matter, which is another beautiful thing about the sport, its all about technique it doesn't matter if you're the smaller opponent. All of the instructors at Xtreme Couture are very knowledgable, giving and approachable. Everyone seems to really love what they do which says a lot to me. Our P/T is Paul a brown belt who is extremely patient and thorough, taking the time to make sure we understand the why behind the what of what we are learning. Paul trains under Wagnney Fabiano, who is like the best gift in an instructor and the fact that we have regular access to someone of his calibre is amazing. He is a 5th degree black belt and wins tournaments all over the world and as a bonus is the nicest guy. The environment and vibe in the gym is all inclusive. Everyone at all levels take the same class. I feel like the recommendation of the private lessons was hugely beneficial to not only our training but to preparing us for the group class. To be able to have individualized attention and time for questions is invaluable. My husband and I also started taking personal training sessions with Thomas a Muay Thai instructor and it is amazing. Such a great workout and addictively fun. I highly recommend this gym because of the positive attitude in striving to better yourself, the large open and equipped facility and the high level of training being offered.... also, there is a parking lot! So especially if you are a woman and have the thought, ya doing something like that would be cool, don't just let it pass. It's totally achievable, you just have to start. read more

Absolutely worst gym I ever went to. There are many complaints that I can list, however, list would be far too long. I will, however, let everyone know that people running this gym are petty swindlers, as they commonly double, sometimes triple charge their client's credit cards. So be aware, and make sure to check your credit card statements monthly. In addition, they do so advertently, hoping that their clients will not check their credit card statements (I've been told this info by one of their stuff members, and considering that I've been double charged 3 times in a year, it's something to think about). Furthermore, gym is down right filthy, with toilet soap and paper towel missing quite often. Simply unhygienic and likely great candidate for public health concern, I would not recommend this gym to my worst enemy. read more

Please note that I am rating this gym as it stands now. When I first joined (about 3-4 years ago), I was very impressed. Great MMA instructors, clean equipment, great staff, just overall a great MMA gym. Since then things have taken a steep decline, especially within the last 6 months or so. Ask anyone that has joined for more than a year and they'll say the same. Here's some (not all) of the issues. THINGS JUST DON'T GET FIXED. The display of 4 out of 5 bikes they have are broken and haven't been fixed in over 6 months (I don't think they plan too). The MMA instructors went from guys like Mark Hominick and Chris Horridecki to guys that barely know what they're doing. I even saw a former student (mediocre student at best) teaching the classes. The soap dispenser has been broken and instead of fixing it, they have an industrial size soap box sitting on the sink. They have missing weights for over a year and still don't have it (80 lb free weight). Things just seem to break and never fixed. It's only a matter of time before they pass the threshold of their members patience. I actually think they've reached it due to the fact that I always see the price of membership decreasing every time I pass by. They don't even have a scale to weigh yourself...What gym doesn't have a scale? It's like a boxing gym not having punching bags This gym is a prime example of a facility trying to hang on to stay afloat. It's either they can't afford to maintain the gym or they just don't care any more, both reasons to me are unacceptable... If you're looking for a MMA gym, don't be fooled by the "Couture" name. He's either an absent part owner (Highly doubtful, but you should ask yourself ) or they just paid to have his name put on the the gym (highly likely). Go in, take some classes and you'll see what I mean...Maybe I'm wrong. Actually I hope I'm wrong as I have respect for Randy Couture, or had anyway What was once a promising MMA training facility is no more than run down space with broken equipment with a somewhat pretty façade. You can put lipstick on a pig but... These are all opinions so my advice to any that reads this is, if you're looking to train in MMA, look elsewhere. If you don't believe me, get a week pass and try some of the classes... I guess the reason why I left is because they just don't care... or that's what it feels like. My first real gym. Been going for 3 years. It's improved hugely in the last 18 months; they've got a really great group of trainers, the memberships are affordable, the staff are friendly. It's not got the bells and whistles of a high-end joint, but if you want to go and sweat for a few hours a week it's ideal. There's no attitude, not one of those places where they won't let you join if you look unhealthy, this is a gym for people who want to work out without any BS. MMA, Yoga, XFit, Power Lifting, Kettlebell, Hot Yoga, all available with regular classes or you can just go and do your thing. Lots of machines, lots of equipment. Only downside for me is the bloody awful music - some on-line US electronic pop station with the same 10 songs in constant rotation. Get some headphones! Otherwise Xtreme is highly recommended read more

I'll start by saying I only attended one class, but was put off enough by my overall experience to have no interest in returning. To start with the pros: The place is gigantic. If you're looking for a variety of fitness options, this might be the place for you. If you're looking for help with anything while you're working out, this might be the place for you. Also the warm-up for the one kickboxing class I did was good. Cons: Money sharks, hounding you for a contract the second you walk in the door even if you've got the 7-day pass. They'll offer you a considerably better rate if you sign up on your very first day. I had a really awful experience being paired with a rude, condescending girl in class, but tried not to let that colour my experience. There were hardly any kicks. The instructor was playing on his cell phone, the class pace was slow and there was too much standing and staring, not enough moving. The handpads smelled awful. I don't think they're cleaned between classes. Really gross. The person bugging me for a contract kept saying "you can use this whole facility and go to all these other drop-in classes!" and I kept repeating myself, saying "I don't need the gym because I have one in my building at home" and "I'm not interested in zumba or spinning." Bottom line: Didn't want to sign up for 15 months after that disappointing experience, and I can't afford more than they offered for my first-day special rate, so I'm not going back. read more
