Located…read morein the old city in Sultanahmet, it is very convenient for visiting the major attractions, such as Topkapi, Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, etc. Be aware that if you're looking for a Hyatt or Four Seasons kind of hotel, this is NOT for you. It is a cozy boutique hotel nestled into the neighborhood. You won't find a spa or room service here. But you will benefit from super helpful and friendly front desk staff, a large and varied complimentary breakfast that changes every days, quaint rooms and views of the Blue Mosque and Bosphorus from the top-floor terrace. We were in room 303, which is probably the best room in the hotel. It's on the top floor and has windows on three sides. In one direction you see the Bosphorus, in another you can look down the cobblestone street where all the nearby restaurants are located, and in the third you see the Blue Mosque, which is especially beautiful when illuminated at night. Our room was more spacious than the rooms that the rest of our family had, but all of us were comfortable and happy during our stay. Getting nearby points of interest entails a short uphill walk down narrow streets, so you need to have some situational awareness as you'll be sharing the road with cars and taxis. You'll have to run the gauntlet several restaurants with proprietors who will try to entice you to eat at their establishments. They can be rather assertive, in a friendly and good-natured way, but after a week of dealing with this it did get a bit tiresome. Nevertheless, this is an excellent place to stay during a visit to Istanbul. I don't anticipate coming back to this area any time soon, but if my path leads me back to this beautiful city I'll be booking the Darussaade (hopefully in 303 again).

We booked the family connected rooms and they were absolutley beuatiful, it felt so regal and elegant. Both rooms had ensuite bathrooms, but the bigger room's bathroom featured a marble walk in shower/ hammam. The rooms live up to the photos perfectly. The main selling point of the stay was the terrace breakfast that had a generous breakfast buffet and stunning panoramic views of the Blue Mosque. Overall, it was an extraordinary stay and would 100% recommend the Hotel Darussaade!

They accommodated my early arrival which I really liked. The rooms were so pretty. The first night I stayed in a suite which looked like it came out of an Aladdin fairytale. On the top floor, they have free breakfast for their guests which had a plethora of Turkish breakfast options and european options. The top floor also is a bar and has a really amazing view of the city. The only complaint I have about this hotel is that my friend and I needed twin beds and our travel agent told the hotel this; however, we show up and there was no twin beds available. Also, the heat in our room didn't work and after our long late flight, there was no one to fix this issue so we spent an hour trying to figure out the radiator. The manager didn't help out when we tried to ask for a partial refund (which they should considering we had struggled to find heat after our long flight).

The location of the hotel is tucked away from all the tourist sights so you don't hear too much noise, yet you're still within a reasonable walking distance from everything. Our room was equipped with a safe to lock away our belongings, but we didn't feel uncomfortable here at any point. They offer a driver service to and from the airport for approximately 50 TL.

I stayed here for the first time in 2013 and have returned every time that I've stayed in Istanbul. Over the years, the hotel has changed. It also contained a restaurant, which then changed to a cafe, and is now finally a rug shop. Even with these adjustments, the hotel has remained the same. The hotel is owned by Erol, who is very hospitable, funny, and kind. His English is great! The other stuff constantly changes, but they're all young and very nice. The rooms are clean and comfortable. They have air conditioning, which is needed for visits in the summer. Stays come with breakfast, a traditional turkish breakfast. It's delicious! Overall, I highly recommend staying here. It's close to all of the major sites, it's a good price, and the staff is great.

(grins) Istanbul is loaded with hotels, but the only ones that make sense unless you're at a convention/conference are those within walking distance of the Hagia Sophia, the Topkapi Palace, the Blue Mosque, the waterfront, the National Museum and the Grand Bazaar-- plus all the restaurants and gift shops.. The staff at the hotel was incredibly welcoming and friendly. Our concierge Gökhan was very helpful and made sure our stay was memorable and smooth. The housekeeping personnel did a wonderful job keeping our rooms clean and tidy. Only reason for 4 stars is that both rooms we booked were quite small and needed some minor maintenance which could have been proactively done prior to our arrival. I had booked it through my work portal for 6 nights and they charged me for the full amount when I checked in so was stuck otherwise I would have moved hotels due to poor quality of service. The hotel is centrally located in Old Town but for any small thing, the reception desk was not helpful from asking for restaurant recommendations to even asking if the restaurant in the same hotel was available, I was told I should go and check myself. The breakfast was pretty good but surprised by the surcharge for a Nescafe or even Turkish coffee. I would not recommend this hotel purely based on the staff that worked the reception desk, they ruined my experience but was there for work so barely had any down time.

I'm only giving it 4 stars because there were two things that bothered me a bit, you have to leave your key at the front desk when you go out. As a female traveler traveling alone, this bothered me a bit. There is usually someone at the front watching the desk so it's not a huge deal. I just am used to walking around with a modern keycard. Not a huge deal, but it's worth mentioning. Secondly, as obvious foreigner, staying in this part of Istanbul can be....annoying. I chose the hotel for its amazing location super close to both mosques. But it's a full tourist location. People stand outside of restaurants and call out to you to come in. You can't comfortably walk down the street without every shop/restaurant owner asking you to come in. It's super annoying and kind of ruined my peaceful solo trip. If you want to stay in a less tourist part of the city stay in KadiKoy. But if you want to be within walking distance to the Blue mosque/Aya Sofia and Topkapi, and don't mind the hagglers: This is overall a wonderful hotel, and I enjoyed my stay while I was there. There's nice view from the terrace. And it's close to the water as well. Also the cleaning ladies are SUPER sweet and took such good care of me. I felt very safe here especially walking around at night. There is also a small bazar up the street, and lots of restaurants super close to the hotel. 4/5!

Location: Less than 5 minutes from Sultanahment tram stop, Blue Mosque, Hagia Sophia, Basilica Cistern. Plenty of restaurants and shopping within a block. We visited during the off season (late November), so there wasn't any problems with an early check-in. The hotel staff were beyond wonderful and were more than happy to assist us with anything we needed. They offer 24-hour car service for a reasonable fee -- it came in especially handy for early morning airport rides. Complimentary breakfast had a nice variety. Rooms and beds were tiny, but still comfortable given that we didn't spend much time at the hotel.

It's a fairly walkable area, but it's at the very top of a few hills, so just make sure you're prepared to walk. Once inside the beauty of it and service is just top tier. The rooftop restaurant Spago is amazing, along with the service. The Brassiere downstairs is also great. The rooms are very largely sized, but a few downsides... The shower head is a rainfall head, but the shower itself is so small you're stuck under it and sort of constricted in your movement. It's hard to wash yourself like that, and the bathroom and closet are so big, as is the room that they could've made the shower a bit bigger for sure. The TV in the bathroom also was basically useless, it did not work at all. There's also a few details here and there overlooked (dings, scratches, wood not finished to 100%) but nothing enough for me to really complain about to the hotel directly. I would stay here again if I go back to Istanbul at any point in time, but I would probably break my trip up where half of it is here and the other half at the Four Seasons Bosphorus, not the Sultanahmet one.
