I drove an hour to get to Yakima to pick up some lumber and realized that the keys that I had worked in the ignition, but wouldn't work in the gas door, or the pickup door. I was told by my local locksmith that they could probably make a key for $70.00 but no guarantees. I went into Yakima Lock and Safe and asked if they could make me a key. The young man asked for the VIN Number and made me a key for half of the price of the other locksmith. I asked if he could make two more keys, and I think he said that will be $6.00 for the two extra keys. The keys worked fine in the ignition and doors but I couldn't get it to open the gas door. The young man told me to spray WD-40 on the lock and it should work fine. Sure enough, they saved the day read more

Nice friendly people. I have used them twice over the years. I would say prices are very affordable for duplicate keys. More so for regular keys. After thoroughly vetting our ownership they made arrangements to get her back in our home. Great customer service, highly recommend. I found myself locked out of my house the evening of 1/18/17. New to the area and never having used a locksmith before, I called Yakima Lock & Safe. I was told that it was going to be approximately 40 minutes and they apologized that the fee would be a little higher than normal because it was an after-hours call. They asked if I wanted to wait somewhere warm and they would call me when they were about 5 minutes out. I was pleasantly surprised when they arrived sooner than expected. Their employee Danny was great- he made a very frustrating situation so much easier with his kindness and compassion. I understand that people don't like to pay for unexpected expenses, but this employee drove to my house after hours, in freezing rain and had to put chains on his van to get there. I learned that my "smart lock" couldn't be picked, our new weather-stripping made it impossible to credit-card, but he still tried and then made the extra effort to look at my garage door and my back door to see if he could get me in another way, to make the call less expensive. That's what I was most impressed with, an employee taking extra time to try to make it easier for me, when it certainly didn't make it easier on him. In the end, my bill was higher than my quote, as it should have been, but the individual fees (service call, new doorknob and installation) were all extremely reasonable. I would highly recommend Yakima Lock & Safe, great customer service and love supporting a small family business. After being lied to, ignored, and then as good as told that they didn't feel like seeing if they could help me, I gave up on VALLEY LOCK & KEY. I went online and found YAKIMA LOCK & SAFE and gave them a call. They were out within 2 hours and 45 minutes later Jeremy had the ignition out and he'll be calling me to let me know when he'll have the parts needed to fix the problem and the cost. After my discourteous treatment with Valley Lock & Key it was breath of fresh air to find a company with the 'can do' attitude, instead of what I got from Valley which was; you know they don't make Saturns anymore, and, I don't think we would be able to fix it. From here on I will be a loyal customer of YAKIMA LOCK & SAFE. I wouldn't dream of darkening the door-step of VALLEY LOCK & KEY. 9/30 had called to get a new key because of a domestic dispute. Wanted to do a civil stand by so that everything would be legal. However I was pressured from them to just go there get the key made because they had a opening. I wanted it later on in the day so I can have everything set up. so I had to pick the key up from the office. Which was the worst thing I could of done. SHAUN who went to make the key made was met by beautiful ex and help assist her to pull a fuse out because she's not mechanically inclined. I later seen my nosey next door neighbor and he told me a chunky guy which was Shaun pop the hood and assist with the taking out the fuse. Shaun did text me pretty fast saying the key was made as he was suppose to make a key from scratch and was told it would take a while. It was only fast because he took the easy route and dubbed the key. I go to the place of business after hearing the story. because I paid $85 plus tax. Because all he did was make a copy of my ex's key. He lied denying it but my nosey neighbors told me when I seen them. It's a family owned business so of course the dad would take his sons side over mines. All I asked for was a key made but he involved himself into the matter. Helping my ex take a fuse out. I was very polite about it and all I wanted was a refund which was denied. Because he didn't do his job instead he prolly got conned to help. Which I do believe my next door neighbors. they are a good business not taking away from that. But that's pretty foul. I could see his heart beating it out his chest which I knew he was lying. Highly un professional!!! Do not use this company!!! Called this company to re key one of our facilities. they were very prompt with setting up an appointment for the next business day. That's where any form of professionalism stopped. Our company is in the aviation business and everything we do is extremely safety and security sensitive. We were getting our facility re keyed due to changes in personnel. We made sure to do the job when no other employees were present at the site. The tech showed up at our facility and began to re key it. Before the job was even finished, our HR department got a phone call from one of our employees asking about what was going on at that facility and why was it being re keyed. It was baffling to us as to why an employee who wasn't present knew about it while it was happening. After asking a lot of questions to the employee who knew about it, we found out the tech from Yakima Lock and Safe who was doing the job was friends with one of our employees we were letting go. The tech took it upon himself to call this person while he was doing the job and let him know he was re keying the locks at the facility he worked at. Extremely un professional and very big potential security issue for us. I assumed that a company who is in the business of changing locks and working in secure places would not be so liberal with the information that their employees give out. This was a bad assumption on my part. I called Yakima Lock and Safe to voice my concerns and displeasure with the situation and was basically made to feel like it was my fault that it happened and that I was an idiot for not letting them know ahead of time it was a safety and security sensitive job, again, I assumed that people in their line of work would consider all jobs they do as private and are being done for security reasons and they wouldn't freely give information about the job out, not the case with this company. After a conversation with the owner I was told that unless the customer asks to keep things private then they have no issue in talking with other people about it...this is a very alarming and poor way to conduct business!! I was asked what it would take to make me feel better about the situation and I stated that I wanted the locks re keyed again by a different tech so we could close the security loop. The owner said no problem and they would do it the next business day. It was a total of 4 locks, not a huge job at all, and after the conversation with the owner, I assumed the second re keying would be on them as it was their employee who caused the issue with us...again, bad assumption. After the second re keying they demanded payment on the spot. I again called the company stating it was my understanding that the second re keying was on them. They again made it out to be my fault. At this point I was so done with this rediculous episode we just paid them for the second re keying just so we could get them out of our facility. Bottom line, there are professional and un professional ways to conduct business. Yakima Lock and Safe is a highly un professional company and if you are in any type of safety or security sensitive environment I would not trust or recommend Yakima Lock and Safe at all with their services or employees. read more
