My family and I spent time in Prague touring different historical sites and shopping the city. Most of us were exhausted, but my sister wanted to go out and explore Prague more before she moved away. She rallied us out to go eat sushi. Both her and my father ended up picking the same restaurant without consulting each other. Immediately we were greeted with warm welcome and seated at our table. After all the walking, we immediately ordered several starters that eased our hunger. My dad rated that the ebi tempura was the best he ever had and my brother added an additional item to our order. All of us at the table adored the garlic edamame. Later we received the three rolls, sashimi, bulgogi, and the additional ebi tempura with vegetables. We finished everything on our plates, enjoyed our sake, and did not feel overly stuffed. We absolutely enjoyed this experience and will be recommending to everyone who comes to Prague! read more

I liked this place so much yesterday that we came back today! The staff is cheerful and friendly and helpful; and the sushi is delicious. Highly recommend the Kamikaze Roll and the Marilyn Mon Roll. Punny and delicious! Bevard beer turns out to be Budweiser brewed in Prague-- too funny! And this might have been the best ikura I've had-- and it's my favorite so I have it a lot! You aren't necessarily expected to tip in Prague, but we did both days because the staff are so great! And huge portions! Strong recommend! read more

We easily snagged a spot for two during a late dinner. The menu was surprisingly diverse and we were appreciative of the photo menu, too. We ordered the salmon and avocado salad, shrimp tempura, and the Red Moon rolls plus a couple glasses of Czech wine. I have to tell you I was more than a little surprised when somebody raved about this sushi bar. Would never have thought of looking for sushi in Prague. I am so glad I went. I arrived Sunday night at about 8:30 and they did not have a table available. The gentleman that welcomed me said he would do his best to get me in. I wound up sitting at the sushi bar which is my preference when I travel solo. At home I eat sushi about three times a week so know good sushi. The food and service were both exceptional. I had a roll with raw butterfish. I have to admit I never had that before. It was always cooked. That along with tuna, avocado and ponzu sauce was the perfect combination. We waited patiently for 10 minutes for a table. We did not have a reservation. It was 415pm when we walked in. We were swiftly taken back after 10 minutes. Then we didn't have any service for another 10-15 minutes. Luckily we were ready to order drinks, appetizers and the main course. Once the server came back, she was swift bringing our drinks and taking our order. We ordered a couple of appetizers (seaweed salad and fried calamari with a spicy sauce) and a large sushi boat (sashimi, nigiri and rolls). We continued to order a specialty roll as well as a couple of sushi cones. Pro: Asian men at the sushi bar making the dishes. While we were waiting, we could see them making the dishes and it looked incredible. Pro: Prices reasonable (in US dollars). Sushi boat worked out to $41! (945kc) Con: VERY slow service. Even on the cooks end. Long delay between courses and items ordered. Seems that might be the Czech way unfortunately. [OVERALL] A pretty upscale Japanese restaurant in Prague. The interior is decorated very nicely and has a modern touch. The service is super nice and professional, and there are Asians at the sushi bar making the sushi. The quality matches the price of the food, and I'd definitely recommend Yami for good Japanese food. The restaurant also holds a decent amount of people. There's a HUGE list of specialty rolls and a good selection of traditional sushi as well as à la carte options. My friends and I really enjoy the food here and don't really have any complaints. The tap water here costs 50 CZK and comes with mint and orange/lemon slices. [FOOD] Marilyn Mon Roll: This roll is as good as the pun. This roll is SUPER filling and tastes amazing. The two sauces are very creamy, the salmon roe cuts through the heaviness nicely, and the ingredients come together for a really nice flavor. The pieces are really big, so it might take two bites for people to finish. Aburi Spicy Hotate (Spicy Scallop): Though very expensive, it was really good and refreshing. It's only very slightly spicy. Unadon: Super super good. The eel is nice and tender, the sauce is on point, and the rice is slightly sticky and nice. If you want, you can also replace the side miso soup with another bowl of rice (which is great for people who love carbs like I do). It's a solid 5-star dish. Mochi & Green Tea Panna Cotta: The only dish I didn't enjoy thoroughly. The panna cotta doesn't really have flavor, and the mocha (filled with red bean) is just as tasteless. I've been here a few times because I'd say that it's probably the best Japanese restaurant in Prague, however, there are a few caveats. First, there aren't that many really good Japanese places in Prague so it doesn't have much competition and second, it's very pricey compared to most of the food in Prague (so you would hope that it's the best). I wound up getting salmon teriyaki one time, chicken teriyaki one time, tempura, edamame, and unadon and I'd say that the portion sizes are relatively small for the money. I wound up getting like 5-6 pieces of chicken and 3 pieces of salmon so it wasn't particularly filling. The overall flavors were good, but the price is a bit steep considering it's Prague. Yami has some of the best sushi I have ever had in my life! I was surprised because Prague is landlocked but the sushi is absolutely incredible. The BEST Japanese restaurant i've ate at so far in Prague, which is saying a lot. I love the authenticity, and how delicious and fresh the fish are. There are a few korean dishes, which I myself haven't tried (i go to their Korean restaurant instead) but have seen to have looked very good. I live quite near to Prague, but whenever i'm there, i always find myself ordering the Chirashi sakedon - which is a 10/10 in my book. Never have I ever had a chirashi as delicious as this. Most chirashi's i've had were ok, but a little tasteless, whereas at Yami, you get the roe, the rice, the fish, the furikake; it just all complements each other very nicely, especially with the saltiness of the roe. I strongly recommend that you order the chirashi if you're there, but their sushi is of high quality as well! read more
